Thank You for another great session. You're loyal student I am, What an honor to have the co founder ( You guys know that Mr. Thomson is a co founder of Spitfire yeah) teach us all this. Most of my pages saved are all yours and Christians videos. To me there are no other programs out there , Spitfire has everything ever dreamed of!! How envious I get when you put up your Kontakt player my God! I notice almost everyone uses Logic, I use Abelton, which I got because I saw a video with Charlie Clouser( he's a favorite of mine and figured if it's good enough for him) using but then another shows him using logic....I like it, it has amazing sounds in the box, but there are a few places I see big differences. Can you talk about DAW's in a session? Or maybe you already did I'm going to have to go through again and see but I'd love to hear what you have to say about the different DAW's. Thank You again... Thanks Kristopher you are very kind! I know Charlie uses both - in fact Harry Gregson Williams uses Ableton and Cubase - Ableton is especially great for some kinds of rhythmic composition, allowing you to jam along to picture with the rhythmic 'cells' on different tracks, and then refine that. Its a different workflow and very useful one!
@@PaulThomsonMusic Wow Thank You very much for that! Harry Gregson has been a favorite of mine since 'The Rock" I did not know that, I feel better about it now. I do like it a lot, I like that say if recorded rototom with Hammers and decide toms would be better it's a simple change. What a great way to start my lesson today!!
Thanks Paul! Another wonderful tip. Using the notation software or the DAW to do the invert is much faster than working it out by hand on manuscript!
Absolutely Dawn - saves a lot of time, and you can try a whole bunch of them very quickly and see which give the most usable results!

Thanks Paul. In my simple mind it helps explain why I find the Lydian hard to compose in (its close relation to the weird Locrian). Both have a weird in-built drive to change to another key. I found it hard not to slip from the Lydian into the dominant's Ionian. I love the sound of the Locrian but it doesn't have a natural resolution.

I was thinking the same thing then scrolled down and that was the first comment, pretty cool. I know my theory for decades now but there are for sure a few things , I'm sure you do the same, that we figure out because we hear them throughout our favorite scores or just stumble upon and think we just discovered something....It's hard to type where I'm at so that didn't come out like I was thinking.....Much Luck to you , You have to be cool if you're here!!

I'm guessing this function is unique to Logic? Pretty cool either way. Or Maybe the logical editor in Cubase can do this as well?
