I was born in 1953. I grew up with this song in my ears and in my heart, because it has accompanied me since the very first time I danced with girls. I know every single note and beat of it, and I play it on the organ too, and I must say that your cover is perfect down to the smallest detail. Thank you for this emotion.
I too, was born in 1953. In fact, an April Fool. In addition, this anthem of my life mirrors that of yours, my friend “ennio7730.” For my 70th birthday, and knowing my connection to “Whiter Shade…” my lovely and thoughtful wife danced with me as the assembled guests looked on as the DJ played this gem at a surprise party I’ll never, ever forget. Thank you Sina. You may not know what you have done, not only for me, those born in 1953, and those born who came of age accompanied by this timeless song. But know this: please live your life with the love and emotion as expressed in your passion and skill on the throne of your lovely drum kit. You’ve made more than two well-seasoned gentlemen very happy.
In juli 2021 we here in Holland have lost one of the greatest persons and this was his favoriete song. 10 years ago I lost my dad to cancer and at his funeral he wanted this song to be played. Sina......please keep on playing! Let the drums play! The 🌎 needs this! ♥️
How beautiful and inspiring the world was in those years of the sacred decade of 1960. All the great artists were rising up and raising their flags. I'm very proud to have been there, still small, but receiving all the great good vibes. I miss the starry nights of 1967. And also my parents and my little sister who passed away prematurely. ✨🌟 🇧🇷
I don't care how Sina mixes her drums; I consider this to be a privilege just to see her perform her talent on the drums. And she's creating her own unique skills as she tries different techniques on her journey to become the best drummer that she can be. You go, girl!
I have always wanted to see and listen to music from the drummers perspective.....and Sina does it with absolute perfection....there is no one else close to you Sina.....the most special for me being Roundabout by YES....I still have the 33rpm vinyl.....never thought I would see the drums played to such perfection.....you are amazing
First, I am not a musician. I find it amazing the amount of whole body coordination that goes into drumming. I appreciate the different camera angles showing the synchronicity. To me anyway, this is a talent that rises to art.
@@toddscully256 I, myself, never thought it was easy, but yet quite the contrary. I've been the lead-singer in 4 bands & back-up singer in 2...mostly Rock
How you and your Dad take an Iconic Classic and improve it without changing the soul of the song is the magic you and your Dad (and friends) possess. I've never seen or heard anyone like you CONSISTENTLY mixing your talent and Mike's touch in the studio to improve songs that we didn't believe could possibly be improved upon...and yet you do it over and over again, song after song. You're covers alone are better to listen to than any Classic Radio station airplay rotation that I know. Amazing job yet again Miss Sina!!
@@DonDueed I've spent extra money on my older Honda just to put in an AUX port to connect my phone to listen to her drum cover list thru my car speakers.
I just discovered Sina yesterday and have watched hours of her videos in awe! With due respect to others who've commented, she isn't 'playing' the drums, rather she fuses the use of her instruments with the other musical elements. Most drummers just use her arm, hands, legs and feet, Sina engages her whole body, mind and soul as she gives life to an exquisite creation.
Albert, well said. There is a reason than Sina has been the most viewed drummer on RUclips for the past 2+ years and her ability to "become the music" is a large part of that.
I was a background technician in several Munich radio, television and music studios from the late 70s to the late 80s. I was allowed to accompany countless music productions. Believe me, Sina is one of the best, no, she is the best drummer I have seen in my life. I hope the right people will wake up soon to recognize what a huge diamond she is. She definitely belongs on the biggest stages with the best musicians in the world! All the best, dear Sina!
Remember this song when it first came out in 1967, our breakfast radio presenter in Sydney NSW Australia was always featuring anything new. We got to hear all these brand new artists we had never heard before on that very radio station. Great to be alive as all these bands came out. My mother even had me recorded as dancing to Rock and Roll at 18 months old (circa late 1961 early 1962) so, I'm stuck with it. So my brother and I listened intensely to all the Pop/Rock music as it was launched. This is quoted as Baroque Pop but Elvis already borrowed from Classical and Baroque compositions almost a decade earlier. It's in Rock and Roll DNA. My cousin was a Classical Orchestra leader in the early 20th Century and then brought Bebop (Jazz style) to Australia, first to do so. So innovation runs in the family!!! It obviously does here to with Sina mastering a classic that cannot deviate because of its soul is in this song. Very well presented. This style inspired Keith Relf and Jim McCarty to want to discard Blues Rock and the fact that the music was thought of (this was the 1960s) as temporary and decided Classical music needed to be presented as itself within Rock to prove it was 3 minutes of throwaway Pop music, for it to last. They formed Renaissance!!! Enough said. The band Renaissance is still touring today, with that Procol Harum inspiration!!! Great work Sina!!!! 😊❤
What impresses me the most here is, if my mind remembers correctly, when the band initially did this song in the studio, it was recorded, but the band's drummer was out that day and a different drummer was brought in. Later, the band member could not reproduce that great drumming, so they went with the other guy's recording. Sina has reproduced what Procol Harum's real drummer could not. Outstanding work, young lady.
We played this last night, with my keyboard player giving me weird lookks. At the break we were discussing the beat. Now I'm a 76 year old self taught drummer and I can't count the time it's in my body. Thank you Sina for proving me right.
Sina, I can't quit watching this video. I love this song for one. And the organ is so beautiful. And I love how you always keep your kits simple. While most drummers have all flash and dash, you only have a snare, high hat, 2 tums, a ride and 1 crash. And I love how you take 2 Tums and make in sound like 4 or 5. You have a talent most drummer would die for. Keep it up. Have a great summer. Much love from 5,300 miles away here in the USA!!!
@@GlazeonthewickeR The small set up is what I love most about her. You can at least see her unlike most drummers that have mega setups. And sorry, I meant to say toms.
Rock and roll was truly the age of musical enlightenment for the young. It really allowed them freedom of speech and thought. Poetry turned to music. I'm so happy you cover these jewels..
Sina, As an old guy who wishes I could (really) play the old drum kit in my back room... you are inspirational. Your skills and your spirit combined with the techniques of your team - camera angles and sound levels allows me to see and feel what drumming is about. Don't ever change.
Sina, you have an old soul To see a young lady drumming to the songs of my youth, I know there is still hope for this fantastic era of rock. You are so into it. You may have seen my other comments in the past, and I must repeat saying I get joy from watching you play. Much continued success in all of your endeavors.
Procol Harum, and this, one of my all time favorite songs, ever . Van Halen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Metallica, Foreigner, Iron Butterfly, Golden Earring... are you kidding me . these are some of the songs that define my youth . they are a part of me, and they never sounded better than on these videos . you are breathing new life into these old songs . watching Sina's videos is like listening to a new favorite song, that you just can't get enough of . apparently i'm working my way through all these videos, even though i had no intention of doing so . i can't seem to stop . these videos are so addicting . These are all just so good . Thank You !!!
What is impressive is the natural, good sense of meter, which was spot on. Musicians that play with drummers are looking for a foundation to play upon, that doesn't shift, isn't too busy, and lays it down simple and sweet. This young woman does that. Get down on that groove, girl. bk
Omg sina , you took me back to the summer of love 1967 , at my home in Vancouver ,my best friend and I listened to my transistor radio every day in the park or went to each other’s house with our records , listening to the most amazing music all summer , whiter shade of pale was the hymn like anthem that summer , and conquistador along with brown eyed girl , sgt pepper , the stones , the animals , the kinks and so many other great bands and songs , I was thinking as I watched you play whiter shade of pale just now , that I wished you were there with us you would have loved that time as much as we did , in 68 we saw the stones , the yardbirds , the moody blues , the who , the doors and Jimi Hendrix in concert in our home city of Vancouver , the west coast was a great place for concerts because bands usually played in San Francisco , Los Angeles and then would come up to our city , I’m so happy to have been alive in that time , and the songs that you pick to play bring back those memories , you constantly amaze and pleasantly surprise me and many others with your choices , somehow you know what we have always liked , so glad you like all those great tunes too , looking forward to more of your great choices !!! 🥁
Well, I was born in 1960 and remember this song. I believe it was the first slow song I ever danced to with a girl. Junior High School freshman year. Thanks for bringing back this memory Sina. Your just an awesome young lady!
I too am a 54 model and to see these young talents gravitating to the 60's warms my heart. Quite possibly the best decade of music ever! Indeed, You go girl!!!!!!
@@brianpiersol9412 I was actually a "model" as a child in the 50s. Magazines, catalogs, and even a TV commercial for Robert Hall clothing. Where's my money????????
This songs brings back a beautiful memory for me. The first time I heard this song was at a dance my senior year of high school in 1968. As I danced with my favorite girl I didn’t want the song to end. What a moment. Thanks Sina !
Sina is a class act. She is versatile and plays beyond her years. I love her choice of music. If I was young again and in a band I would love to have a drummer just like her.
One of my most favorite songs. One that defines the late 1960s. One had to have lived through that time to understand what it is truly about. That being said, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing a cover to it. Well done.
I'm with you on this one... Sina, you do it like you wish you were around in those days....This is a very heartfelt classic....In those days, no one had ventured into anything Bach or the kind to do some r&r.... I'm just so glad you did this one.....Beautiful!
Thanks so much for this rendition of what is widely considered by many musicians including Peter Frampton, that this is the best song ever written. Having heard it dozens of times since the ‘60s, I’d never focused on the drumming before, always the organ and vocal, not realizing how important the drumming is.
thank you for this song - it brings back memories of the times it aired, beautiful tribute you did - brings back memories of lost times, lost friends, and lost family you brought this tough old bird to tears - thank yo so much your tributes to these songs means so much to many of us -
Well I wasn't around in the beginning of 67 but I was around in the middle I grew up with a lot of great music and 67 is even in my screen name thank you for keeping the classic music alive it's good to know that young people like it too you're awesome Sina
Sina skills as a drummer are absolutely out of our galaxy, but what amaze me more than anything is her exquisite musical taste. Einfach ausgezeichnet !!!!!!!!!!!! Extremely well done girl.
Sina, there is nothing you have to apologize for. You did not interfere with the sound of the original song at all and your drum treatment was fantastic. The song was great to begin with and one of my favorites. You only made it better.
Im 68 years old and this song was "in my time" and it still gets me emotional every time I hear it as time goes by so fast, and Sina you bring it home with your passion and commitment, your precision is perfect , you bring back a rush of memories that are overwhelming sometimes especially in todays times - your performance is wonderful thank you so much for the memories - gather your crew and come to the states on tour someday !!! - Your the best.
I was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany 1967-68. A few of went to a club in the area one night and a live band was playing and they played this song. It was the first time I had heard it and when we began hearing it on the radio sometime later I realized that we had been listening to Procol Harum without even knowing it. To this day I swear their live performance was better than the studio version.
Exquisite performance of “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. Amazing what you do....and he sings “the crowd called out for more”. I’m one of your crowd call out for more...more of you & your exceptional performed music, alike your fine taste & choice of music. Thanks so much for this all. You’re an enrichment, inspiring old & young for so many years already. Reading the comments of some of the older generation - but not only them - I’m thrilled how much you achieve with your music, far beyond common entertainment. You provide minutes/hours of good reminisce, an escape from normality, a bonfire. This is owed by your very well chosen songs, performed in an excellent presentation. Here I repeat myself happily, it’s your great talent & personality, just as your independent interpretation of those songs. What a great mix we witness here. For me it’s unique here around.
The absorption of Sina’s play, her style to hand out music is gorgeous. Often I like to close my eyes and fey…but then I can’t see her performing, for me equal delightful. Maybe I should try to alternate.
What is warming my heart even more than the excellent drumming is that this young generation of great musicians is getting back to the works that are worthy of being called music! And even more that Sina can play the most complex and sophisticated patterns and polyrhythms, and yet she gives homage to such songs as this 1967 Summer of Love classic, a straight forward 4/4 with classic fill-ins, and in another video she tries to explain to the young audience of today why Ringo Starr is a pioneer in modern drumming! Hats off to you for elevating feeling and emotion over pure technique and today's muzak emptiness
Sina, brilliantly played. One of my favorite songs. You moved me back many years, when I was as old as you are now. A tear swirled in my eye. Many thanks for this song
Danke!
One of my all-time favorite songs from 1967 (I was ten years old that year), and Sina did it justice. Gary Brooker is smiling down from heaven. And so is Johann Sebastian Bach; “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” was based on one of his compositions. I have to do something about those onions, though.
It's good to remember Robin Trower -one of the great rock guitarists - and B.J. Wilson - one of the best drummers in rock history (The Octopus). Both joined PH after A Whiter Shade of Pale. Jimmy Page wanted B.J. for Led Zep but he decided to go with Procol. You have to look for live videos of PH with B.J. Thank you Sina for the very good cover. PH was one of the best bands end of the 60s and in the beginning of the 70s.
I have the alarm set for SINA for post! I love you girl!! Great song and performance! BRAVO! My neighbor told me he just purchased a drum set incase I here him. I told him to bring it on and oh btw let me show you this very beautiful, talented and Awsome young lady I've been following for awhile. Needless to say, I turned him on to SINA and you could drive a bus through his mouth when his chin dropped. Hope he is still following. So proud of you Sina! BRING IT ON
Thank you Sina! I LOVE hearing this with the drums up-front, no excuse needed! I'm a keyboard player, and have heard and played this 1,000 times, always focused on the Hammond Organ and descending bass lines. Hearing it and focusing on the drums was like hearing it for the first time again. Love the way the drums do a descending pitch at ~ 0:50 "the crowd called for more"...chunk, dunga-dunga-dunga-dung... and several other lines.
Hey, happy that I can still experience this in my old days. My favorite drummer drums to my favorite-favorite-piece (I think I also have some dozens of favorite pieces and my two girls "had to" listen to my music in the car - today they take revenge for it when I drive with them and they play "Their Stuff" - no, it’s OK; fortunately I have a broad taste in music). If so many posters this time tell how old they were when AWSoP came out, I have my coming out now - That time I was as old as Sina today. Of course I have this “thing” in my ears and everything has to be right, but it really does. When I’ve read the announcement, I hoped for a complete re-recording with Rick on the organ, but who should have sung it ... Another very happy Thursday - thank you!
Sina. As usual, you are always spot on. Note for note, shot for shot. That's what I like about your videos. You always maintain a level of exactness when covering the songs and instrumentals the way that you do. I know it's not always easy to make every cover you do come out totally exactly like the originals but you come very close if not precisely on nearly all of these great classics. I wish there were more, young musicians like you in the world keeping these great classics alive. I've been following you on RUclips for a few years now and I have seen you morph from a hobbyist to the young professional you have become. I applaud you for sharing with us your talent and love of music in all forms. Keep On Rocking Sina.
I like how you can do different styles of classic rock or pop music. One video it's Kansas, then it's Boston, then the Beatles, next it's Iron Maiden, and then it's something mellow like this. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world.
Sina, I love that you are so precise and that you cover so many of the songs I covered until my retirement in 2002. I sold off my gear in 2014 to make rent. I now live vicariously through you and your great performances. We love you!
Say Hello to Sina's 72nd video to reach the 1Million Views Mark. Again, Sina and Mike's mixing magic puts the drums prominently placed to hear Sina's Par Excellence work without taking anything away from the original track and actually improved the clarity and again show what an important part drums are to a Classic. Congratulations Sina and Mike!!
The sextuplet fills in this song are as iconic as the organ. The forward mix of the drums really accents this feel; they almost put the song in suspense. And yet the triplet fills provide that emotional transition between verse and chorus. I better understand the rhythmic contribution that make this iconic song what it is.
Go Sina, never shy of reinterpreting the classics. The original drum cut was done by Bill Eydon. He is an old school 50s jazz/dance band drummer .the drum call to the dancers easy swing feel drives the song.Bill was a bit older than them and didn't want to be in the band but his cut remains on the song.
Amazing drumming to a classic song. You weren't even born yet when this song came out in '67 if memory serves me correctly. You show great taste in music here.
Beautiful cover! Thanks a million for playing Procol Harum. This is their most famous song (summer of 1967). The drummer was a session player named Bill Eyden (I think he was paid about $25 for the track!). Procol Harum’s permanent drummer was Barrie James (B.J.) Wilson, who played on many tracks outside PH, including Joe Cocker’s “A Little Help From My Friends” & that “Rocky Horror” soundtrack. B.J.’s work with PH was unique & expressive. “A Salty Dog” (title track from their third album) is a beautiful piece. I’m thinking that “The Piper’s Tune,” “About to Die,” & “Bringing Home the Bacon” are some of B.J.’s best short pieces. I love “The Idol.” Outstanding track. That’s a long song, though, as is “Repent, Walpurgis” (instrumental last cut on first album). “Walpurgis” breaks into part of Bach’s “Prelude in C Major” on piano. “About to Die” is a bit sloppy. I wish I could’ve played the bass track on it. But I love B.J.’s work on that song! Thanks again, Sina! Love you & your work. Keep it coming.
Let's lift one to BJ Wilson - a drummer gone way too early from this world. Thank you for this excellent cover, Sina. You always deliver with a superb performance. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
Yes this is an old favorite Sina and I was 15 at the time and couldn't wait to get the album!! Seamlessly appropriating Bach was something Procol Harem did so well!!
Sina, your drum cover of this classic song is the very best of all. You understand the groove of this tune and technical aspect. It is amazing you didn't hit any one stroke more than necessary. Many cover drummers easily give in to their ego, but you don't. And the same can be said about your other covers. Keep on rocking and drumming for us! And I like your cute German accent as well!
Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent & Studiogitarrist, Germany
Thanks, Sina, for not deleting the original. It is one of the iconic tracks of the era. Just In Case. In April Deep Purple will launch their 21st studio album. Obviously they chose that month because it so close to YOUR 21st birthday. Probably you'll be even mentioned in the album's liner notes as one of the Keepers Of The Flame regarding DP classics. IF (!) this should result in another DP cover, maybe "Fireball" with this great drum opening: Please, DO NOT DELETE that song either! Thanks! :-)))
I love this version I love the drums at the end !!! I can’t listen to the original on the radio without thinking of this version !!! Thank you Sina !!! 🙏🙏🙏
I Can Name That Tune In 1 Note...as long as it's Matthew Fisher playing that sustained E on his Hammond M102 ;D A write-up for "A Whiter Shade of Pale" (AWSoP from here on) is daunting. There are thousands of pages online, dead or misdirected links, contradictions and inaccuracies. Even the people involved tell their stories differently over time. So, what is the truth? Between the lines perhaps.I'll use a narrative style without attributing quotes, except where necessary, to save space THE SONG - "AWSoP", by Procol Harum (P.H.) was written by Keith Reid (lyrics), pianist and vocalist Gary Brooker (music and melody), and, after a long legal battle, organist Matthew Fisher (music co-write and all organ parts). It was recorded, on a four track machine, on April 1967, at Olympic Sound Studio, London. It was released, as a mono single, on May 12, 1967. It was common practice in the UK at that time that singles were not released on albums so it was not included on the band's debut album 'Procol Harum' in the UK, released Dec 1967. Neither was the song "Homburg" which was another UK single release. "Homburg" was, but "AWSoP" wasn't, included on the German release of 'Procol Harum'. The bulk of the album was recorded, not at Olympic, but at another London studio Advision. Some negative comments about Advision exist but it was a first class studio at the time- still only four track with Telefunken machines. They were the first to get a Scully 8 track machine in 1968 - too late for P.H. though! The album was engineered by Eddie Kramer and Keith Grant. In the US, it was common to include singles on albums so "AWSoP" (but not "Homburg") was on the US album released in Sept 1967. US albums were, by then, also released in stereo. While the majority of the other songs, also recorded on a four track machine, had a rudimentary stereo mix, "AWSoP" did not and so was "re-channeled" to make a pseudo stereo version for the US album. "AWSoP" was a major global hit reaching #1 on the UK charts on June 7, 1967 where it remained for six weeks. In the US, it reached #5 of the Billboard Hot 100. It hit #1 in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany and a number of other countries. P.H. never had another hit as big as "AWSoP" but they avoided being a one-hit wonder with "Homburg" reaching #6 in the UK (US #34) and a live version of "Conquistador" reaching #16 in the US and #22 in the UK. What does it mean? Some believe it's a psychedelic experience or a sexual relationship or inspired by Chaucer's "The Miller's Tale" which is considered to be a bawdy or vulgar story. According to Keith Reid, "I'd never read The Miller's Tale in my life. Maybe that's something that I knew subconsciously, but it certainly wasn't a conscious idea for me to quote from Chaucer, no way." He continued, "I was trying to conjure a mood as much as tell a straightforward, girl-leaves-boy story. With the ceiling flying away and room humming harder, I wanted to paint an image of a scene. I wasn't trying to be mysterious with those images, I wasn't trying to be evocative. I suppose it seems like a decadent scene I'm describing. But I was too young to have experienced any decadence, then, I might have been smoking when I conceived it, but not when I wrote it. It was influenced by books, not drugs. WHO PLAYED - At the time "AWSoP" was recorded, P.H.'s guitarist was Ray Royer. He was replaced by Robin Trower who played guitar on all the other songs on 'Procol Harum'. P.H.'s drummer Bobby Harrison was unable to play on "AWSoP". He was present in the studio but apparently indisposed somehow. It's speculated that it was drugs or drink or sickness or whatever but producer Denny Cordell had to call in session drummer Bill Eyden who was a jazz drummer. Upon arriving at the studio for the P.H. session, Eyden discovered Harrison present but "non-combatant"; the whole recording, he recalls, took about three hours. For his work, Eyden received only the Musicians' Union rate of a bit more than 15 pounds. Harrison did drum on another take of "AWSoP" a few days later but it was substandard and not used. Harrison left P.H. soon after and was replaced by BJ Wilson. The iconic organ part - Matthew Fisher told BBC Radio Two, "I'd thought that it would be great to have a pop record that used some of the features of a Bach prelude. It is a quotation, but it's not a 100% rip-off ... I pride myself that I did it sufficiently well that you can't hear the joins and that's why people think it's completely Bach." Rosanna asked keyboard wizard Rick Benbow if he'd ever played "AWSoP" - "I’ve played it many a time! It’s interesting that it constantly changes - there’s an element of improvisation about the melody over the descending bassline. You will read that it near-copies Bach’s Air on a G string but it’s more generically ‘baroque’ really as that descending line is not an uncommon device. It certainly provided the template for Gainsbourg’s Je T’aime but I can see why that might have been a trickier choice for Sina to cover!" Rosanna also wondered how Sina and Mike connected with the song. Sina said, "It's very difficult for me to analyse this song, because I grew up with it and I've heard it a million times. That's why this drumpart is so obvious to me, I think it really needs to be this way in order to make the song to the song it is now. I think every fill and roll is exactly where it needs to be and I can't really imagine the song with a less 'full' drumpart. Also, because the song is really slow, it's always difficult to prevent it from being boring after a few minutes." How did she grow up with it? Mike said, "Due to the fact that this is one of my 60s favorites, likelihood is high that it was on one of my mix tapes, actually mix CDs that she was exposed to." Sina said, "I think it was on one of our car-CDs. That's a CD collection my dad made with his 300 favorite songs. We would listen on every car ride. Also radio, of course." There is much more that could be told. Rosanna researched many sources including SongFacts, Discogs, artist and studio websites, the Internet Archive and even Wikipedia (beware of errors and dead links). The best single source, in my opinion, is www.procolharum.com/ if you want to do your own research. It's actually a fan site but it has more in one place than anywhere else. Cheers!
This is such an in depth write up of both sound studio tracks beginning to change from 4-track to 8-track stereo for studio recordings back in 1967. This was an amazing fact for me. You two never fail to impress with the knowledge learned here. Thank you our Kasey Kasem duo for another job well done!
Thanks for another post filled with info one will not find on any public site. Never read about Rick, Mike and Sina on "Beyond The Pale" - not to mention contributions BY them! :-)
Juliet and Ro - Once again, you add more color and background. I don't remember much of this, and not much was publicly known then anyway. I really appreciate what you've added here - thank you! Thank you, too, Sina. It's a kick imagining those car rides, and I'm betting we're hearing many of those 300 songs today. Thanks for making room in the back seat for me! Feels comfy. ;))
Just goes to shows you that music and the arts can take you further and beyond anything you ever imagined. I remember this song from my youth on the AM dial. I feel very fortunate to see this superstar in her element here. Thank you!
Just flipping onto RUclips , and there you were playing one of my favorite songs , "A Whiter Shade of Pale" , a song in which I learned to play on the organ ( I learned to play by ear , to this day I cannot read music ) . As I would say back in my radio days "A Blast From the Past" , and Sina You've done an excellent performance , my heart & soul thanks you ! Love Ya Sina !
I was born in '48, so "Whiter Shade" fitted right in there for me, your cover even improves this iconic song! when put alongside Emily's vocal an piano cover mmm!
How beautiful to see and hear Sina on drums with this song of so many years. It is evident that she crosses generations when choosing her musical pieces and appreciates all the music. Greetings from Chile.
I am following SIna for many years, but this time I finally fall in love with her. This is one of my all life favorites and this versión by Sina is simply wonderfull. I enjoy it more than i can´t explain. Thank you very much Sina
Friken nice - love the ending (shows both her sense of song and time). I'd hire her. Probably can't afford her at this point in her career - she's kicking butt - happy for that for her. Wish I knew her younger and hungrier when I was playing in Nashville
I have no words to describe! One of the most beautiful love songs "A Whiter Shade of Pale" reproduced in part (drums) with an incredible work by a young woman who could today be the granddaughter of some of the authors (Procol Harum) what a wonderful thing ❤️ .. congratulations on the talent and for the sensitivity in dedicating oneself to this song
Vielen lieben Dank . Ich wünsche dir alles Gute

They’re called toms, and minimalist setups are trendy as fuck.

Thanks so much for this rendition of what is widely considered by many musicians including Peter Frampton, that this is the best song ever written. Having heard it dozens of times since the ‘60s, I’d never focused on the drumming before, always the organ and vocal, not realizing how important the drumming is.

I was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany 1967-68. A few of went to a club in the area one night and a live band was playing and they played this song. You’re an enrichment, inspiring old & young for so many years already. Reading the comments of some of the older generation - but not only them - I’m thrilled how much you achieve with your music, far beyond common entertainment. Here I repeat myself happily, it’s your great talent & personality, just as your independent interpretation of those songs. What a great mix we witness here.

The absorption of Sina’s play, her style to hand out music is gorgeous. Often I like to close my eyes and fey…but then I can’t see her performing, for me equal delightful. Maybe I should try to alternate.

THIS IS ORIGINAL DRUMS, BRAVO ! Most of other drummers played wrongly, but this one - great!

She has found her bliss. No place she'd rather be. Nothing she'd rather be doing. I can see it all over her face. Pure contentment!
This is what passion for something brings! Happiness!

A write-up for "A Whiter Shade of Pale" (AWSoP from here on) is daunting. There are thousands of pages online, dead or misdirected links, contradictions and inaccuracies. Even the people involved tell their stories differently over time. So, what is the truth? Between the lines perhaps.I'll use a narrative style without attributing quotes, except where necessary, to save space
THE SONG - "AWSoP", by Procol Harum (P.H.) was written by Keith Reid (lyrics), pianist and vocalist Gary Brooker (music and melody), and, after a long legal battle, organist Matthew Fisher (music co-write and all organ parts).
I pride myself that I did it sufficiently well that you can't hear the joins and that's why people think it's completely Bach."
Rosanna asked keyboard wizard Rick Benbow if he'd ever played "AWSoP" - "I’ve played it many a time! It’s interesting that it constantly changes - there’s an element of improvisation about the melody over the descending bassline. You will read that it near-copies Bach’s Air on a G string but it’s more generically ‘baroque’ really as that descending line is not an uncommon device. It certainly provided the template for Gainsbourg’s Je T’aime but I can see why that might have been a trickier choice for Sina to cover!"
Rosanna also wondered how Sina and Mike connected with the song. Also, because the song is really slow, it's always difficult to prevent it from being boring after a few minutes."
How did she grow up with it? Mike said, "Due to the fact that this is one of my 60s favorites, likelihood is high that it was on one of my mix tapes, actually mix CDs that she was exposed to." Sina said, "I think it was on one of our car-CDs. That's a CD collection my dad made with his 300 favorite songs. We would listen on every car ride. Also radio, of course."
There is much more that could be told. Cheers!
thank you for another great write up and research
Juliet and Ro........ Gracias....
Feels comfy. ;))
Also den richtig guten Handgemachten... Und sie macht es und kann es. 😉 Ralf.
Just goes to shows you that music and the arts can take you further and beyond anything you ever imagined. I remember this song from my youth on the AM dial. I feel very fortunate to see this superstar in her element here. Thank you!
I danced slow songs with my girl in 1968 and she melted me like Sina melts you with the drums. This is a great cover of Procol Harum. wow
I'll bet this was slow danced at every high school prom in the late 60's.
Thanks!
Thank you!

I ran out of words to praise Sina's awesome talent a long time ago. Need more...just keep the songs coming Sina!
Goes to show there is a beauty in simplicity. You don't need 25 drums to achieve a wonderful sound. All it takes is a talented person.
Ich freue mich jedes mal , wenn Sina was Neues macht.
This has always been 1 of my favorite songs. Thank you for this. I'd close my eyes and listen but then I'd miss watching you. Loved the ending.
This young lady is just incredible. I’m old enough to remember when all her covers were new and she does them as well as the original artists.
I've been dancing so much on this song ! Thank you very much Sina. It is just perfect.
Why would anyone give thumbs down if you don't like it don't listen I love this song and I love sina
This song holds a special place in my heart. Thank you. Perfectly played.
Sina is by far one of the best.
