    Hey Gris!
    I know you retired from this stuff but I have a question! Have you ever experimented with other materials besides fiberglass mat / chopped mat? I’m just tired of getting itchy fiberglass fibers everywhere. I’ve read online some people have used polyester based cloths like fleece… The might be strong enough for my molds considering I’m sticking to smalls lately. What are your thoughts?
    Thanks!
    P.S You should make videos again they were so fun and informative to watch!

      Hey there. Some peeps use medical plaster bandages for shell ,as well I know Smooth on has a product for shells as well .I just can't remember the name off hand.

      @@mrconcreteartisan That’s an interesting tip. I’ll have to experiment with the medical bandages. Wondering how that material will jive with the polyester resin. Haven’t figured out which Smooth On product yet but will keep looking at their catalog. Thanks for the response!

    Love these videos, thanx ! I react to resins and not often willing to chance it so I am stuck using plaster bandages, thermal plastic, or rubber only molds that I cast in sand piles. Limiting, yes but fortunately good glass backed molds are available for purchase.

      I know glass isn't for everyone .Nothing wrong with the plaster backers,I know a fellow who makes tons of molds that way.Thanks for watching.

    The threat of impotency, works every time. 👍👍
    I really love your foam idea. To anyone who has never made concrete molds but is thinking about it and learning from these videos? Do the foam thing from the very start.
    I myself, wish I knew about it a looong time ago.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I learn so much from your videos. About the resin, do you use the waxed type or the unwaxed type. I have a feeling it is the unwaxed type, but just want to make sure.

      @mrconcreteartisan  5 лет назад +1

      Morning Stuart.All the weight of the pot was on the styrofoam,the board was just held on by a couple of clamps.

    I have the Bondo brand polyurethane resin. What was horrible about it?
    Also, do you buy your polyester resin at a store or do you order it online?
    Thanks!

    • @mrconcreteartisan

      Von ,it's just really thick and heavy and difficult to work with. I purchase mine from a fiberglass commercial supplier .They will sell to smaller guys.Check on line for a supplier near you ,or call a boat repair place and ask where they get their resin from ...much cheaper as well.Good luck,let me know how you make out.
