Survivors guilt and PTSD is a real wound. God bless.
Steve and I reunited a few years ago at a 2/12 reunion at Branson Missouri. We were so young and New Years Eve day was a son of a bitch for us. I was the medic he called for and I responded. Most things were a blur and training steps to the forefront... Seeing this picture of him here brings back the memory of him. We both have changed so much in 50 years. I. like him, will never forget that December 31 1970 close to Nui Ba Den. The picture I am looking at has to be Phuoc Vinh Base Camp, also called Camp Gorvad. In the band of his helmet is insect repellant, across his chest is a bandoleer holding both m-16 magazines and field dressings. My memory of you is much clearer now.
Chuck this is wonderful news. I would love to hear more of your story. Can you please share Steve's updated contact information with me via email? My email address is: lcappetto@icloud.com WELCOME HOME!!!
It’s unbelievable Steve doesn’t know how much he was needed & the lives he saved 🫡 incredible interview thank you. 🙏 ❤
A humble humanitarian who found himself in a war. I have no words except thankyou for all you did Steve.

You did a great service to all of the Medics in all of our wars! Great job of sharing your story.
My Dad was a medic in the Pacific from start to finish. 4 of his buddies stopped by our ranch in 1963 on their way to a reunion in California, and everyone of them called him Doc. They took a lot of 8mm film on to their reunion and he got tons of Christmas cards from them for years. God bless you and your incredible story!!!
God bless your Father Eugene. Is he still with us? I'd love to see that 8 mm film. I invite you to check out and share my new radio station. Share it with a student and truck driver: Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
Thanks for your service I spent all of 67 there every one please remember the ones that didn’t make it back home!!!!!
I also was a medic in the nam and I served with steve. When he became the cp medic, I became the 3rd platoon medic. I was the 4th platoon medic until new years eve 1970-71 when the world changed for b company. We served under Captain Owens who we called blivit. We were based out of camp gouvard by Phouc Vinh.
Thanks, Doc! Your's was the toughest job. My father and his two brothers were all combat arms veterans in WWII (dad was the infantry guy) and all made it back without a scratch; my mother's brother (who didn't have to go, but volunteered) was a combat medic killed on Okinawa. You have a place reserved in heaven, brother.
You are a hero and a angle sir. Thank you and welcome home 🇺🇸
Thank you sir for your service and sacrifice.
Thank you Jimmy. I invite you to check out and share my new radio station. Share it with a student and truck driver: Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com

What a fantastic gentleman, what a great interview.
What an Amazing Man
My favorite medic story. We were walking through the woods one day when our lead element came under heavy fire. I run from the center of the column to the area where our guys were being shot at, I am dragging my RTO with me. I flop down about ten meters away from the platoon sergeant. I am gathering data to fire an artillery mission when one of the guys on the other side fired an RPG at us. It landed between me and the platoon sergeant. The sergeant began to scream and roll around while holding his hands to the right side of his head. I said to my self "oh shit, sergeant Crosswhite has a head wound." I thought it was very important for me to keep doing what I was doing but our medic had arrived, I fire enough artillery to stop those guys from shooting at us. I go over to where the doc is working and he has a syringe above the sergeants ear and is flushing it out with water. The doc was able to flush out a cucklebur shaped hard piece of ear wax that had been driven into the sergeants eardrum.
Thank you for watching my story with Steve. I appreciate your comment. What a story!! Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com

Yeah Larry, Steve really makes ya feel that STING and sorrow ,not knowing the outcome of the many soldiers he treated?...Ya see news storys all the time of a "hero among us" who saved a life in a fire, rescued someone from drowning, car wreck etc. They're the talk of the town for months, just as HE....SHOULD be. Steve's interview reminded me of the nurse's interviews on here, and what "UNsung" hero's they were. Yeah Steve, had you landed here in WV. , you woulda had MY 11 yr old lungs screamin GLADJER HOME ! Can ya please take me for a chopper ride?. (thought everybody in uniform got ta fly hueys...☺) Many THANKS for your service ! Hope life's treatin ya VERY well !
ROCK on brother John. Another fantastic comment from you!! Steve definitely is one of my unsung heroes. His story has been tucked away for many years. Love this man. Got a head full of good sense.
Thank you both.
First thank you sir for your service to this country and your fellow man.
God bless you sir for all you did and went through. I has family and friends that served in Viet Nam, some didn't come back, some did.
I have nothing but the highest regard and respect for any Viet Nam vets.
Thank you sir for all your efforts in putting these interviews together.
As you state, these stories need to be told. I have family and guys I worked with from WW II, Korea, Viet Nam , Gulf War, War in Iraq. I've always enjoyed talking to vets, never pushed the issue, but if they wanted to talk I'd listen until they were through.
God bless every vet, regardless of what area they were in. May God grant each of you the peace that you deserve and help you put your demons behind you and have them stay there.
Thanks Brian. I appreciate your kind words. I'm working around the clock to get these stories out on this channel and my radio station. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Moderation is for cowards!! Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
God Bless you Brian Lykins. You are a kind soul. I pray every Viet Nam Veteran can read your words. I spent 19 months in I CORPS, 95 days under siege at Khe Sahn. Our first junior Drill Instructor in Boot Camp told us, "You are all going to Viet Nam. And you are all going to die!" Only one of us, to my knowledge, did. And then, we found out we have all been killed by Agent Orange, we just haven't given up the ghost yet. Semper fi...
Vietnam. 1965.66. Fresh off the boat !!!!
I loved this interview. Every crisis needs someone like Steve to reassure people that everything’s going to be alright.
Agreed Rebekah!!
Thanks for bringing these warriors for freedom stories to us .Keep up the great work .Would love to hear more from soldiers who fought along the HCM trail .LRRPs ,SF etc alongside ARVN forces
wow
My God!
Much respect and honor to this gentleman and proud veteran. I wish we had more of him that are respectful of our flag. His sacrifice and duty to his fellow brothers in battle is exemplary. I wish him wellness and peace. I served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era (E-5) and lost a dear friend over there 9-16-70, L/CPL William Franklin USMC. Much blessings and Thank You for just being you Steve. Much thanks to VOH for this interview of a Patriot soldier.

God bless 🙏 these men ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Dane!!
Steve is one of the most beautiful human beings….you can see the heart of Jesus in his eyes. I pray that our country continues to produce men such as him.
Tachy psyche is what my instructors called this when I went through Naval basic combat skills in Gulfport. It’s basically how we react differently in a combat situation (simulated at the school of course) where time slows down or time disappears or even a type of tunnel vision. This man is describing it very accurately on how he experienced it. Amazing stories all of these vietnam vets have. Absolutely incredible.
Thank you for watching. I invite you to check out my new radio station: Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
An angel amongst men.... What a guy... A brilliant interview.. So sincere 🙏
One of my best interviews.
Great story. Real and honest and brave helping those who at that very time we’re in such great need. He was there telling them it’d be alright, like he was taking their worry from them for a little while. It was like he took that wounded man’s worry and just pushed it out of the way…more incredible as I reflect on his story as I write my comments. And I hope he goes to the wall with a buddy so he isn’t alone…
Thank you Jay. Always good hearing from you. I hope to share this comment with Steve. I invite you to check out and share my new radio station. Share it with a student and truck driver: Voices of History Radio® (KVOH) larrycappetto.com
