I have lived in Barton Hill for 19 years. The majority of the money from Community at Heart was spent on installing a network CCTV across Barton Hill, which we pay a monthly charge for and it never works. The CCTV was only installed after three ballots of the local community until they voted yes to CCTV. The children's playground has now fallen into dilapidation, the lifts always break down, we suffer from fly tipping on an industrial scale, the stairwells are regularly used as toilets, dog shit on all the grassed areas, the misnamed Barton Hill Community Centre due to its extension has created huge levels of traffic congestion and cars parking, the cladding on our flat is covered in petrol and is damaged, no sprinkler systems, no fire alarms, no safety lights, no designated assembly point in the case of fire and only once point of exit....not just slums on Barton Hill but death traps. Contacted the mayor (who half way through a tenants meeting regarding tenants concerns after Grenfall Tower, went home) councillor who did nothing and my MP.....they may as well have thrown £50m in the bin
