Minelab Equinox 800 & Manticore - Relic Hunting in Tasmania

I took both the Manticore and the Equinox 800 out metal detecting in the Australian bush looking for relics and coins. The objective was to compare signals and find out which machine gives the best results!

Thanks for this video Steve, I hope that you do a few more of them, comparisons that is. So far I have seen no reason for me to update the 800. The only thing that the Manticore has that I like is the 2D screen. Otherwise the 800 is still as good as any. Cheers John

Thanks John. I’m still learning the Manticore, and have only recently completed the software upgrade so need to put a few hours into it to see if there’s any improvement. The Equinox is still the best all-round machine I’ve ever used, but I think the Manticore will have its advantages…

Hey Steve, have you done any videos explaining and showing your All Terrain fast set up? It sounded very much like the Nox tones. I find the Manticore doesn’t have nice sounding tones even for desirable targets. What’s your thoughts? Cheers 🍻 Camille

Not yet, but I was planning on putting together a video to show how you can setup the Manticore tones to sound more like the Nox. I definitely prefer the Nox tones, but I also adjusted those and changed them from defaults.

I think I’ve worked it out though to have nice sounding tones similar to the nox.
