[Tripleheader] Amtrak Coast Starlight 11 with ALC-42s 350, 314, & 333 at Oakland Jack London Square

This video was filmed on February 2, 2025.
This is my second time seeing the Tripleheader Amtrak Coast Starlight train with 3 ALC-42s in general. The previous one has 3 ALC-42s facing forwards, but this one has one facing backwards which is ALC-42 314 while the other 2 are facing forwards. That was a rare catch I had during the rainy morning at Oakland Jack London Square.

Honestly, I’ve always wondered this about the track arrangement at Jack London Square. In the street there are three sets of railroad tracks the Westbound track is abandoned then the middle track and the Eastbound track are what every train runs on.
My question is why doesn’t the railroad remove the abandoned Westbound track as it doesn’t serve any purpose anymore?
