Last week, I did pay attention much to the weather forecast because the storm was expected to land in South Korea. Hurricane is not common here, so the heavy storm sounded very scared.
It was my first time to experience the storm since I moved to a house... I was very nervous.
Not like the weather forecast, the storm passed quiently. However, there was a strong wind. So, I made a video of it :)

I'm scared of heavy storm too, I can hear the sound of the sea from my house since it's kinda close and it's so scary 🥺 There was one time when it was very heavy storm and the coconut tree fell onto the roof 🥺

Not gonna lie, I prefer my winter storms here in Canada over any hurricane or typhoon. No need to take care about plants or outdoor furniture. Just need a warm blanket, a cup of tea, and knitted sweaters and wool socks on the side in case the power goes off a few hours so you can layer if it gets a bit cold in the house.

Today was my first experience of a heavy storm at my house as well. The backyards fence is broken in 4 areas, the flowers are dead, and the other plant got toppled over and fell out of the pot! 😕

We have tornadoes here sometimes, usual wind speed is 80-100 miles per hour (130-160 kilometers per hour). I recommend removing all outdoor furniture and structures and placing them indoors during strong storms. They can get carried away or, worse, thrown against the house and break windows, damage doors and even roof and gutters. It is important to do tree inspection regularly on any mature trees on the property, to make sure that they are healthy. This will reduce the risk of them breaking during the storm and falling onto the house. I also recommend checking roof and gutters systematically, because any weak and loose roof tiles and gutters will get torn and carried away during a storm. Where I live, people try to spend storms in the basement, because it is considered safer. If the storm is particularly violent, it is a good idea to get under a sturdy table and cover your body with a mattress or a thick blanket, so it does not get punctured by the debris. Basements with windows are less ideal, because they can flood, drowning the residents inside of them, and debris can still get through the windows. It is also a bad idea to shelter underneath some heavy furniture stored on the floor above you. Should the floor joist break, that furniture can fall down into the basement. However, I would say that if conditions are that bad, then evacuation might be a better option. With climate change, I have noticed the storms getting worse and worse. I wish for you and your family stay safe and unaffected by natural disasters ♥
