    I think this is one of the better analyzations I've seen of gone girl, it's odd that all credit seems to go to the director and none to Gillian Flynn. She wrote the book that this is based on and the screenplay for the movie as well. David Fincher definitely deserves good credit for the movie but I would still consider it Flynn's more than anyone else's.

    • @WynneL
      @WynneL 2 года назад +13

      I was about to say the same. Talking about a woman's work as if it were a man's creation is a bad look for a channel. Unfortunate. Fincher did her story amazing justice and I am in awe of his brilliance, but I am in awe of *hers* as well. Gone Girl is Flynn's voice--her literary creation brought perfectly to life.

    • @PeakedInterest
      @PeakedInterest  2 года назад +19

      I wasn't really giving credit to anyone just highlighting what drew Fincher to the project. If it seemed that way it's just because I was talking about the movie, if I were discussing the book id have focused more on flynn

      @@PeakedInterest My grandparents, as far as I could tell, had the best relationship that worked for them. Grandpa more or less let Grandma do as she pleased and she rarely, if ever, asked him for help.
      Her favorite hobbies were gardening and photography, I remember almost every Christmas that Grandpa would get her something new that she needed - be it gardening gloves or a pad for her knees when she was weeding. Or a new lens for her camera.
      He was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed bird watching. So she would buy him books or small things related to those subjects.
      Their relationship seemed timeless. They were together for years and truly just seemed to enjoy one another's company.

      I think the best relationships are the ones which do two things - communicate openly, honestly and calmly and the second thing is to respect each others space.
      Too many couples in my experience don't give each other enough space and it causes friction.

    Great work brother!! Im a new subscriber. The Presentation you put together about the 2 young dutch ladies was as good as it gets. I respect the way that you look at both sides of the equation and not being biased in any way. You do not speculate as many of the other crime docs I watched about them. You took what you know to be evidence , presented it in a way that was very logical and easy to understand and gave your personal opinion on what you beleived happened. Just for the record I saw eye to eye with you on what you believed happened. Ive been making my way thru your videos and enjoyed them all. I too have a love for film and enjoy coming to conclusions on the narrative and visuals. Anyways keep up the good work as you definitely have the Knack.** On a side note there are 2 cases I've followed for years and have yet to figure out what probably happened. The first case is of a man named Brandon Lawson who mysteriously vanished although there is enough evidence to get solved. The other case is about a young man name Christian Andreacchio. If you had time to do some digging on either of the cases , I would love to hear your opinion. I don't really wanna give up too much info, as doing research with an open mind is always best imo. I love the Ellen Abbott character as well. The way she is able to take the information given and spin her own narrative on it - much like how journalism works, which likely comes from Gillian Flynn's background as a journalist. Ellen sees the picture of Nick "flirting" with the woman wanting to give him the casserole - we saw the interaction and how uncomfortable he was, but Ellen just sees the photo and assumes he is being flirtatious. This further backs up Ellen's theory when Emily Ratajkowski comes forward with the affair.
    However, when Rosamund Pike comes home and admits that Desi was the one that did all of this, you briefly hear Ellen explaining, "and when Desi couldn't have her, he TOOK her. It disgusts me how..." even though we know this is a complete farce, yet with Ellen's power of her audience, it's likely that, if this was a real true crime case, that this would be the story we would tell on all the true crime podcasts.
    My fiancé hated this movie when we first watched this because she thought Amy was stupid for deciding to come home to Nick. I tried to explain that this movie is more about how people try to control each other to fit the narratives in their own heads and their perceived characteristics of each other, as well as how "the media" can easily manipulate a story line to fit the story they want to tell. And you're right, it doesn't make it right or wrong. Gillian Flynn did a phenomenal job.

    I think the characters and their world are such exaggerations that you can't really critique it on the basis of real life, but rather debate it like you would a morality fable. I think the question and debate was the whole point.
    I still wish the ending had been more believable (even if not "realistic"). The cop and other friends just telling him to give up and live a lie DESPITE them having proof of her deception, MURDER AND FRAUD was just way too nonsensical for me. But maybe i'm just unappreciative of some "deeper point" lol

    • @PeakedInterest
      @PeakedInterest  3 года назад +5

      I dunno, Affleck makes the point of saying there is no physical evidence that she did anything that's why she made him strip down and get in the shower before she would tell him she did it - then she knew he wasn't wearing a wire.
      I think you're right in many ways really the movie is just a starting point to debate how much we really value truth. Perhaps I didn't emphasise that enough in the video.

    • @uegvdczuVF
      @uegvdczuVF 2 года назад +2

      Yup, same here. To add to that didn't really like the "he's an asshole and she is a murderous psychopath, so that's pretty much the same" vibe. As a morality fable that just fails flat since those things don't even come close. Now if his affair was him seducing and than murdering women and dumping their bodies in the woods that would be more like it. imho it would make even better (more satisfying) movie and the end would work better.
      But that's just me, a now old man who "lived in interesting times" since being 5yo and likes to watch movies for fun and not the _message_ or _deep underlying meaning_

    It is a big problem that they are both wrong.. it’s not about feminism if we suggest a person (even if it’s a woman) to not hurt other person.. it applies to men as well..in a relationship marriage or love, cheating and violence are just unacceptable.. if husband does cheating then wife leads to violence.. both intolerable.. but the sad truth is only solution is divorce/break up.. one doesn’t get to punish the other person for the physical or emotional loss they have suffered even if it’s huge enough to put their existence in question.. what amy did would definitely be terribly hard to pull off in real life but it would be where a person’s rage can lead them to if they are pushed to the extremes of insanity whether it’s a man or woman.

    You have a lot of good answers, but I'm going to give you what your missing. You're looking at the old Panamanian case with a logical brain and not the brain of a psychopath... The key to this who done it... Is the Blonde! (Kris)... Think about this location... Panama! Not too many native Blue eyed blonde women in that region!... The killer was infactuated with Kris...Lisanne was collateral damage to him... That's why you have the photo of Kris's platinum blonde hair!... That was a keepsake of the murderer wanting a trophy. 😐

    I never really feel into these but I totally get the gender obsessed public would. Gender is the new identity for some people and these roles are insane.

    I prefer these videos of yours, they are neutral and show depth. But the opinion based and oversimplified discussions on the gender wage gap are terrible and biased.
