Girl, I totally feel you 😔 when I was in school, I felt the same thing, not smart enough, no logical skills and generally just dumb, especially when your best friend is the brain of the whole year. my grades were average, but I didn't know how to study, so I just resigned to it. BUT PLEASE listen to this: first, you're absolutely not dumb or stupid. You may feel like it and that's totally valid, however, being able to get good grades by working hard is smart. you see a problem and find a solution and get a good outcome. that's certainly not dumb. I think you might not have found the right way for you to make studying more easy, it was the same with me back then. Now, I'm out of school for over 16 years and went to two different schools for different professions (speech therapy and medical technology, it's similar to a university and you get a state-approved certificate when you're done, it's a weird system in germany) especially for med school, I knew I had to take math, physics and chemistry classes, which were my worst subjects back in school. however, in the meantime I found a way to make studying easier for me and I got straight A's in all of my classes and got the best exam in the end! It was then when I realized, that I always identified myself as being bad at math and physics etc, so I had an excuse if i got bad grades. same with logical thinking.and at some point, I didn't even try to get better, because in my mind it was already set that I'm bad at this, so why even bother. So from what you said, having to work harder than others doesn't make you stupid. your current abilities don't define you as a person. You'll need some time to adjust to the new program (I don't know what IB is, since I'm not familiar with this system, sorry 😔) but that doesn't mean it will be this hard forever. and I know, integrity and being a good person don't pay the bills, however they're traits that some never achieve, no matter how smart they are. sorry for the long text, I just see my younger self in you and I wish someone would have told me this back then... I hope you'll feel better soon and kudos for being so brave and openly talk about your struggles, wish you all the best ❤❤🩹

There isn’t really a “naturally smart” person. As someone who has been both a bad student and a good student. Some students retain information more because it interests them. Like for example things regarding history/geography/biology came east to me because I cared about that stuff even outside of school. People from those classes judged me as a “naturally smart kid” (a useless term) because how effortless it came to me. Luckily they were not in my pre-calc class. I did not care so I didn’t retain the information well. I mean best advice is not to care about school too much (I know you are already in IB we didn’t have IB at our school) because I truly don’t believe it matters anymore with the way the world is even more competitive than it is now that school notoriety/academic accomplishments matter even more. Like every achievement in life it is about luck (another factor that allows people to do well in class), who you know, and learning from past mistakes (the only thing I appreciate as a fair factor we have control in). If it gets too stressful you should honestly think of a way out because you are too young to give yourself an embolism from stress. Good luck, be as silly as much as you can because once you are an adult who is churned out for their productivity you are going to miss it. Being happy (even if you manage to find happiness as a loner) is worth it when you compare it to having stress that makes you hate your life. P.S this advice is for all you kids/adults/parents/whoever.

It is so encouraging to know that l am not the only one who has problems at school. I am actually going through the same thing l am now in high school and l had to change classroom and meet new people but l am so disappointed with my new classmates. Last year l had the best class ever. So seeing how much of a difference in your school life mean classmates can make is very depressing. To give you an idea they made a group chat on insta with only 8 of them and they didn't invite the rest of us so they can talk shit about us.
ok ik im like a billion yrs late but i have a solution to accidentally jinxing urself (ur grades, skin, etc.) after saying something good about urself like "my skin is rlly good" or smth say Alhamdulillah or Masha Allah. this is like a religious thing honestly, but maybe it will work. hope this helped
I was eating ouch one time with my bff. We were watching a movie in the movie room (an option at our school) and my 2 ex bffs walked in with their lunch, and they did not eat AT ALL! They sat 3 seats behind me and were just shit talking about me. Like at least talk outside! Dang
IB is definitely not an easy program but try to focus on the tasks at hand. As backwards as it may seem, when you stop focusing on the grades and spend your time trying to engage with the content in as many ways as you can (i.e. focus on learning) the grades will follow. The next year or so will be stressful but you will be grateful you powered through. You got this!

It is so encouraging to know that l am not the only one who has problems at school. I am actually going through the same thing l am now in high school and l had to change classroom and meet new people but l am so disappointed with my new classmates. Last year l had the best class ever. So seeing how much of a difference in your school life mean classmates can make is very depressing. To give you an idea they made a group chat on insta with only 8 of them and they didn't invite the rest of us so they can talk shit about us.

ok ik im like a billion yrs late but i have a solution to accidentally jinxing urself (ur grades, skin, etc.) after saying something good about urself like "my skin is rlly good" or smth say Alhamdulillah or Masha Allah. this is like a religious thing honestly, but maybe it will work. hope this helped

IB is definitely not an easy program but try to focus on the tasks at hand. As backwards as it may seem, when you stop focusing on the grades and spend your time trying to engage with the content in as many ways as you can (i.e. focus on learning) the grades will follow. The next year or so will be stressful but you will be grateful you powered through. You got this!
I'm soo glad u talked abt people talking bad abt others its sad cuz i feel it right now one of my "friends" is ignoring me so much and if i talk to her bsf she whispers smth in her ear and i honestly feel like shes using me just so she can use my makeup and homework answers.
