No, each disintegrated/warring period lasted a few hundred years. Basically, there are three major disunited periods. The first one is the entire Spring-Autumn and Warring states period, from about 700 BC to 200 BC. The relationships among the various states are not dissimilar to those between European countries for the last 1000+ years, during which royal families of various states intermarried, such that the heads of states were cousins or other relatives who went to wars against each other. Keen competitions for resources and talents led to advancement in many areas including philosophy, agriculture, rapid colonization and development of sparcely populated territories. Qin defeated all other states but all the heavy lifting of Qin culminated in a united Han dynasty (about 200 BC to about 200 AD) which was a successful melting pot, giving rise to Han culture. The nomadic Hunu (=Xiongnu in modern Mandarin) confederation was the major antagonist of Han, and it was eventually defeated by Han China. The second one is the Three Kingdoms-Wei-Jin-and northern/southern dynasties from about 200 AD to 580 AD. Some Han elites and their followers emigrated to Japan, which started to have a writing system based on Hanji (Han character) during this period. Meanwhile, the nomadic proto-Mongolic Xianbei immigrated into China proper and abandoned nomadic lifestyle. Han-Xianbei mass intermarriage and integration culminated in the Sui-Tang dynasty (580 AD to about 900 AD). The trade via the Silk Road blossomed during Tang China, and Buddhism, which was first introduced via the Silk Road to the nomads in northern China, spread throughout Tang. The nomadic Turkic confederation, which was the major antagonist of Tang, was eventually defeated by Tang China. The third one is the Northern Song/Khitan(=Cathay) to Southern Song/Jurchen/Mongolian period from about 900 AD to 1250 AD. This period again led to mass immigration of the nomadic peoples who abandoned their nomadic lifestyle and adopted agricultural-based lifestyle. This period also saw the decline of land-based trade via Silk Road and the rise of maritime trade via South China Sea and Indian Ocean to the Middle East. The disintegration of the Mongolian Empire led to the subsequent united period of Yuan-Ming-Qing dynasties to the modern republic eras from about 1300 AD to present, during which Beijing is the capital of China proper about 90% of the time. For the majority of time during the period from 200 BC to 900 AD, the seat of central government of China proper was in Chang'an, which is now called Xi'an.
Of course, the Yuan was the Mongol dynasty, and the Han Chinese were grade 4 and lived as livestock and slaves. Even during the Qing Dynasty, the Han Chinese were ruled, disfigured, and slaughtered by the Manchus for 260 years. The Han Chinese were slaves to the northern peoples.

Yuan's sudden showed up probably correlates to the political move of Kubulai who declared himself a Chinese emperor and made a official challenge to Song's legitimacy as well as being the successor of Genghis Khan to get the support of ex-Song and Jin bureaucratic apparatus like Merovingian King's Christianity conversion. This way he can rule China properly and directly with dictatorial power instead of through a series of semi independent vassal kingdoms like Medieval European Feudalism. The rest of the Mongol Empire in the Russia and Middle East didn't show up because they were only bound to Kublai as vassals and Kublai has little to no say in their internal governing.
@Lynnfield I Kublai called himself a Chinese emperor. In fact, whether it is a nomadic nation or Japan, to get the dominance of Asia, you must first recognize that you are the successor of the last dynasty of China.

The ruling class of the Song Dynasty chose the path of emphasizing culture over military affairs because they were afraid of falling into the same ending as other dynasties (the army rebelled and established a new dynasty). Take the two great generals of the Song Dynasty as an example: Yue Fei and Xin Qiji. Yue Fei once helped the Southern Song Dynasty fight against the invasion of the Jin Kingdom and experienced military exploits, but was later framed and killed by a traitor. Xin Qiji was once an outstanding military general who helped the Southern Song Dynasty in the Northern Expedition, but later he was not reused and could only write poems every day, becoming another important poet. Before he died, he still shouted "kill the enemy". If not for all this, although the Song Dynasty may not necessarily win, it will definitely be able to hold Mongolia back for more than 45 years.
For those who say its because the empire only has control over the cities and outposts- no real life academic publisher makes maps like that. If they did, the Persian Empire would be a bunch of unconnected dots and roads, the United States in the early nineteenth map should be represented as a bunch of dots centered around where the cities and forts were since they didn't even have full control over the Native American tribes and so on for other countries in similar situations.

India was the world's richest and most populous country for -5500 years (from 4200 BC to 1700 AD). In olden times, when technology was not so prevalent and countries were agrarian, a civilization with the higher population meant a higher GDP. India dominated world Economy and Culture for 5500 years. Ancient China, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan were all influenced by Indian philosophy of Buddhism. Even today, China has 150 million Buddhists. To put that in perspective, Imagine US dominance today, except that the US in 10 times stronger. India's economy only dwindled after 1000 ad because of continuous Arabic conquests and British colonialism. China talks about a century of humiliation, but India should talk about a Millenium of humiliation! And the fantastic part is, despite a Millenium of conquests and ethnocide from foreign powers, Indian culture was still not eradicated. Sure it's become diluted, but its still there even after a 1000 years of opression!

All claims that tibet, xinjiang and taiwan should not be part of china basically ignored the fact that the territorial sovereignty of a modern country is defined by the international treaties and the land(sea) it inherited from its previous political regime. PRC claims the territorial sovereignty of tibet, xinjiang, taiwan just because it inherited from ROC. Self-determination in general is not recogonized as a feasible way to claim independence. Because it is not allowed by the constitution in almost all nations.
Then let's give back all colonies to the United Kingdom since they inherit all the land from the British Empire. What a laughable comment. Literally everyone would be climbing over each other to claim each other's land the world worked like the way you described it, if we 'inherited' land from prior regimes.

This video only proves that the "Mandate of Heaven" was one of the most efficient rulling ideologies that humanity created. Even if dynasties rose and fell over and over again, all the land of China proper - the size of Continental Europe - was always culturally hegemonic and from one nation.
Ummm ... no. "China" is an assemblage of dozens of ethnicities speaking dozens of languages and with a long history of battles, wars and genocides between them all. There was no single culture, there was no single nation/ethnicity ... Han ethnicity is a political creation. Stop buying into and furthering this BS of Chinese culture being some sort of steady, continuous stream. The reality is that it has been every bit as turbulent and bloody as Europe, maybe more so.
"Mandate of Heaven" and "Divine Right of Kings" are not totally distinct concepts. They are both circular arguments designed to justify the current ruling status quo
Rome and Napoleon also occupied Europe. But Europeans don't live thinking they're all Romans or French. It is important to think that Koreans have survived so far and are not part of China at this time.

LMAO Yuan just showed up out of nowhere
@Lynnfield I never mind, those mongolian converted into chinese finally.

True. South China's hills are an amazing terrain advantage.
宋朝国力还是可以的,也是因为宋朝的抵抗,元朝才没有占领欧洲

The name of the theme is “Fuan.” It’s available on the Internet :)

Vladimir Lenin dammit Lenin you should know this! You were living in a time where the emperor was still around
Korea coexisted with countless countries on the continent while they continued to rise and fall. This is truly a great history.
A lot of major flaws in Tang period. Missing Anxi, Anbei, Heishui, Weishi and some other territories that submitted to Tang.
they could be tributaries/vassals, he only showed protectorates and annexed territories
They are countries that paid tributes to Tang but not provinces of Tang.
@@sgcl10658 these protectorates are more like European colonies with governors designated by the central government, rather than countries.
For about eleven hundreds years, today's Vietnam Cambodia Laos areas were vassals of China. The emperoral courts practiced suzerainty to the peripheral States all around china' periphery. At that time the attitude of the emperoral courts towards these peripheral States were that it was benevolent to them and they needed China for their economy and protection. That's why the economy of Vietnam has been in the hands of ethnic Chinese Vietnamese.
@@userwsyz I don’t that’s the case about ethic Chinese Vietnamese, because there’s barely any of them, let along controlling the economy
Republic of China in 1922 to 1926: I am small
All of China in 1922 to 1926: I am big
Dutch was the first government to conquered Taiwan.
Japan was the first government to united the whole Taiwan island.
By your definition?
This is very fascinating! I just really love the traditional architecture more than anything else, although I have become more fascinated with the Han Dynasty era recently. There's not exactly much left over from that era. Although I also really love the music here!
Probably because the Chinese preferred Wood instead of stone

The 1910's until the 1940's deserve a video on their own.
