- A new update to Adobe Lightroom adds a new AI Denoise option but is it any good? I also do a quick macro edit while show casing some of my products.

When you say you didn’t continue to pay for Topaz and did not update so it stopped working, the version you had would still work there would just not be any further updates.

AlI AI noise removal works by finding consistent patterns across the entire image. Anything that is consistent everywhere in the image is likely to be identified as noise. Therefore, it works best and preserves the most detail if you have as large an image as possible (don’t crop before removing noise), with a variety of objects and textures in the image, and some light and dark areas. If you took a photo of a blank wall, and the wall filled the entire image, any small pattern in the wall would likely be considered noise by the AI. This is why TEXTURE and GRAIN should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be applied before Denoise.

I don't like this denoise for the same reason I don't like using other plugins, and that is simply because of the additional file that has to be created. In my case with this LR Denoise, my ~20MB raws were converted into ~100MB DNGs.
well since we are not using toasters to store our files on, if the software removes the noise and give you a great image it's worth it.
