Samsung pay having the option to use MST is still a huge benefit even in 2020, at least in the US. NFC has definitely started to catch up, but it is not even close to everywhere.
I’m in Japan and I’m using Suica, QuicPay, PayPay, Rakuten Pay, Line Pay, iD, Kyash, Origami Pay, AU Pay, D払い, メルペイ in my daily basis without any problem.

If anyone is new to samsung rewards, ignore it. I've worked at saving those points for almost 3 years and have been only close enough to buy a $15 phone case, then they removed all the buy now redemptions leaving only some coupons and sweepstakes. After deciding to cash in whatever I had the only meaningful thing I got was a consolation prize of 1 free year with Calm and a $80 equivalent value of in-game purchases for a mobile game I've never heard of. If you think this reward system might give you enough value for this card, it definitely won't. I love the MST function but everything else is useless at best and a time-sink at worst. Even if you could earn a lot of points with this card there is nothing you can do with them.
Many pple forget that Samsung is a gigantic conglomerate composed of 80 different businesses and hundreds of subsidiaries. Samsung already owns South Korea's largest credit card company, Samsung Card since 1988. They're the only ones who can issue AMEX Black cards to some parts of the world. They are not going to cannibalize parts of their own business or go after their friends in wallstreet by launching their own credit cards in the US.
This question might be dumb but what does an intrest rate of 0.2% APY mean? Is it good or bad? I wish schools would teach us about this but sadly they don't.
I have a few questions. Firstly can you have the option not to accept the interest payments.? Secondly , i notice that when users on the advertisement are using their phones to pay with the no-touch payment method that their phones do not have any protective cases or tempered glass screens, how well does the app work with a reasonable protective case and screen?. Lastly when will this payment method be available for international users and can the card be used to purchase items from websites like ebay and amazon or the samsung store etc.
Humans really confuse me. Have we not figured out imitation is love? It's great that both apple and Samsung are doing these their own way to appeal to everyone out there and I'm interested in Google's version.
"MST was a big deal especially in the US" the last time I saw a non NFC terminal was forever ago and pretty sure that the magnetic stripe reader is disabled in Slovenia due to security reasons and everyone has Chip cards
Yeah the 🇺🇸 is way behind the world in more ways than 1. Here in rural Pennsylvania there's various places that still don't have NFC readers so I'm really glad for MST yet here in 2020. Also, dollar general and Walmart refuse to accept contactless payments for some reason so it's always fun when the cashier says that it won't work and I'm like "just watch" 😜
It is so ridiculous that US was still using MST when the rest of the world had moved on to chip based card transactions. Also its weird that we have NFC payment methods (wearables, cards) which bypass the chip based pin requirement up to a certain small limit. Its a bit jumble all around, and not to forget EU also has that chip based card which combines your credit and debit in one and one can choose which to use at the payment gateway.
v1d300 apple pay and probably Samsung pay and google pay allow unlimited amount purchasing without inputing a pin into the terminal, you just need to use fingerprint/face/password to tell the phone you’re you
Ryan it makes no sense for major retailers not to accept contactless payments, for contrast here in tiny Slovenia every corner shop that accepts card payments has a contactless terminal
.2% is pretty much nothing, because it's higher than the average for debit cards doesn't mean it actually counselor everything when that's less than inflation. And there are savings accounts with 2% and credit cards with 5% cash back.
Why is Samsung doing this - data, specifically information into what people spend their money on is very valuable insight into people's behaviour and characteristics!
I got emails from Samsung, promoting 30% discount if I open this sofi account just wondering doi have to be samsung employee in order to qualify for 30% discount on samsung products.
This is not a Credit card- it is a "Cash Management" brokerage account which is basically a hybrid between a Checking and Savings account. You deposit money into the account, and when you use the card, the funds are immediately deducted from the account balance. You normally cannot spend more money than is in the account, although sometimes it happens accidentally. They aren't giving you a credit line, so everyone is approved. The deposited funds are invested by the banks they go into, and then they give you a small amount of interest that reflects this. The interest is a perk of the card, not something you would want to get rid of.
Can Samsung Money be use on my Samsung Galaxy A71? I hope Samsung Money is not restricted to the Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series. Will this card can link to any bank? I don't lived in the US, I lived in Malaysia. And when will it be available worldwide? I will be dissapointed if it's only available in the US and not anywhere else.
I need advice... Yeah, it is cool option but, I ordered samsung A71 phone from store in my country. Got phone tried to add card on SamsungPay and it notified me that it is impossible to add card. reason is that my phone is made for market of Abu Dhabi, and gave me bank options which cards it allows. Any advice how to avoid this step
You brought an Export Set. For security reasons, Knox won't let you add a card as it thinks it's in Abu Dhabi. In order to fix this you have to flash the ROM of your local area.

Also once u start pushing forward like apple, ur going to make more enemies in wallstreet since the banks don't like it. Samsung has more than 80 businesses with Samsung Electronics Galaxy devices being less than 1% of their revenue. They gotta think of the relationship with the other banks for their 79 other businesses.
I left chime for this. It still has roundups but I love the "vault system" you can set up individual savings "accounts" that you can split up and name. I've got a rainyday and a few more that I deposit into with each paycheck. If you want you can make it pull out automatically.
