Here is the number one rule with street performers; If they're good enough to hold you attention for several minutes, have enough class to donate a couple of bucks!
I still don't understand why these men aren't famous. I seen them in front of the Met a couple weeks ago. Everyone loves them and they are the definition of real soul. They have such a great sound and really got it together.
Amazing voices, ashamed so many people simply walked by and tried to ignore them. People need to take a moment and enjoy the beautiful art that is around them, and support their local performers.
During Vietnam on the fantail of the ship most every night a group would Du-wap the night away "in the still of the night" but those were militant times for black folks and sometime they were offended by a young white boy hanging around to listen. I used to have to hide but there beautiful voices made a hot night on the South China go by a hell lot better.
Mike Gulbranson Mr., you could easily turn your story into a short novella. Combat missions by day, doo wop by night, and maybe a viet namsese love interest mixed in. Or maybe a Steven king style strange and mysterious happenings on the ship.
This is what makes me miss NYC. Born and raised in the Bronx taking trains to work and school and I've always loved bumping into talent like this. I used to miss trains just to listen.
This song was a favorite of my late husband's and mine, too. Listening to this makes me happy with memories of more than 60 years together. Lots of talent here, better than in many theaters!
Marcus Cooper this was filmed over 10 years ago. Song was released in 1956. She was likely born mid to late 40s which would put her 8- 12 when this song came out. Stay positive;)
This ladies and gentlemen is real music. This ladies and gentlemen is real talent. THANK YOU. GENTLEMAN, for the memories. in the still of the night, when they're needed to soothe the soul
I wanna move to NY just so I can dwell in the subways, because thats what would happen, I would never make it to work, my time would be spent in the subway listening to all the wonderful talent that is there and i would never leave...I wish I had a subway here in St Louis, hell they do not even allow any kind of street buskers or anything...How people just walk on by not even stoppong for a damn milisecond and even acknowledge the awesome talent is beyond me, ive seen it a thousand times here on youtube and it just amazes me...i'd be droppin money and hangin out soakin in some wonderful, raw and beautiful talent, every day. every. damn. day.
Man, everyday I think about the oldie days. Like what was it like ? The people, government, crime? Man I sure do wish I was their. Rocking it out and having a great time. They'll never be forgotten.
I love the first part where the lead singer gets up checks if a train is coming and then takes a little walk around the pillar while smacking such high notes with his voice. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.
This is the music from MY generation. It will always last. I worked in the city and saw alot of street corner groups and always would make a contibution. They gave their time and talents and a little in return always helped. And it made the time pass. How I miss those days.
These five young men can blow, what a good way to hustle using what The Good GOD gave you. I wish I had the talent. I would ask if I could join the group. But I don't have the voice I have two ears so i can enjoy twice as much.
oNLY IN NYC will you go to catch a train and think you are seeing the original line up of the 5 Satins live in concert. Do the damn thang, Accapella Soul
love how the lil white lady in the blue coat tuned in immediately and enjoyed the show.. seems like it took her right 2 a beautiful time in life.. love it
Wish i could have witnessed this happening.... one of those never forget moments that rarely happen if your lifetime. Brilliant, thanks for posting this video.
I’ve never been to NY, but if ever I do and see something like this sounding soooooo good. I would donate to their music. I love old school music. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 this is F I R E!!
they came in my train once dun remember if 6 or 5, but they were amazing! was kind of hilarious because one with trench coat was arguing with another 1 pretty intensely but then out of nowhere one of the other ones (who was not involved in argument) started singing there argument ended as if it was not happening so damn fast and they both broke out singing, was pretty funny and great entertainment, was tired on my way home from work and they brightened up my day god bless i hope u get signed!
real talent , real harmony , I love it . just like back in the day ,my dad and his 6 brothers singing acapella .Yes lets bring back the 50's and 60's .
Shesh, this made me cry.......shesh!!!! I would buy a CD, or donate something. Haven't heard a beautiful and soul-singing voices in a long time. Thanx heaps for uploading this vid., really appreciated!!!!!
Wow wow wow wow wow Real voices real talent NO auto tune I could listen to this group for hours.... Going to have to check if they have a facebook page
Beautiful! ,A long lost art, now we have electronic tracks that repeat and could do anything, but there is one thing these new electric machines can make and that is what these men have, and that is SOUL!!!!
There's a lot more talent on street corners than in recording studios today.
keeturbo Right! Genial!
WOWWWWWW!
And that's so true. Kinda sad, if you think.
This comment was 4 years old but I still do agree. :(
I agree 100%. If you disagree you’re obviously from the new era of auto tune and non singers with dancing trends !!!
Here is the number one rule with street performers; If they're good enough to hold you attention for several minutes, have enough class to donate a couple of bucks!
Amen! And especially if you want to film them!
YES!! Id be ashamed of myself to just walk away.
that's as real as it gets
I agree
so you're telling me I can't just enjoy it? And a lot of people who take the subway struggle to make those couple of bucks
I still don't understand why these men aren't famous. I seen them in front of the Met a couple weeks ago. Everyone loves them and they are the definition of real soul. They have such a great sound and really got it together.
Their male organs are all too small to win the affection of women in the audience. Sorry, but male genital size truly matters to most women!
Amazing voices, ashamed so many people simply walked by and tried to ignore them. People need to take a moment and enjoy the beautiful art that is around them, and support their local performers.
Lots of dicks roaming around that don't like anything
Matthew Hatch you said it
Although I enjoyed it, not everyone has the same tastes.
Matthew Hatch
busy schedule most likely.
if I saw them I would try to sit and watch but if I was in the subway I would most likely be in a rush.
its the subway, ppl are on their way places, you know, work and such.. the performers know, its street corner busking at its finest
My favorite song from the 50's and the first record I ever bought.
Me too- caught the do-wop bug and haven't let go!

Well done guys

That's beautiful.

Considering these songs are from the 50s..... That would make her at least 70plus?
Marcus Cooper this was filmed over 10 years ago. Song was released in 1956. She was likely born mid to late 40s which would put her 8- 12 when this song came out. Stay positive;)
