My man Lucien Flavius.
He’s great because he can do anything. And he’s a good mirror to my Knight in shining armour character.
Him and Inigo are perfect Lancers to any character in roleplaying.

I personally like Interesting NPCs. It may be not a follower mod, but it introduces several followers with interesting stories and backgrounds.

True, had Jade from the temple of Mara become my healer. She has a small quest and some character development. She is craven which makes her interactions pretty funny. 10/10 follower

I'd recommend Kaidan too, he's fun, especially if you want a romanceable follower
Kaidan is the non-trashy and less pervy (well slightly pervy) version of Bishop. It feels like a 15 year girl old who dated an adult man (maybe, say, 27+)... Wrote Bishop's romance arc... Get a little older, and men like Bishop become laughing stocks lmao. Not to mention Bishop is pretty much stolen from Never Winter Nights

I wish someone could make more male followers, -especially elves and humans, there are faaaaaar too many females! Females play Skyrim too =(
It is kinda unfair isn't it. Male followers like bishop that have a lot to it are hard to find.

You can try Kaidan. He’s a really good one with a awesome quest and he has a romance option. I really want to make a male follower, in fact one has been bouncing around in my head for a while but I don’t know how to make mods 😢.
Actually there are a few for Oldrim when you take your time to find them on Nexus. Not all are voiced though. But Bishop is by far the one with the most content.
For example: Atvir Dres, Casteo, Draven & Oliver, Dustbound, Galen, Gerald of Rivia, Immersive Idiots, Alerik, Odvar the Aflicted, Rayan, Thorin Oakenshield, Ulath, Vero Darke and Viktor.
Rayan and Viktor are both pretty great abd custom voiced with quests.
You could also install "Brynjolf has time for you" if you like him.
Erik The Slayer in vanilla game is always a good pick
OMG, I now immediately love Recorder because she is played by PotasticPanda. I know her from MXR Plays, she is the host's girlfriend and is a prominent part of the channel. So, yay, Recorder all the way!
Her voice is godly. Love her voice. She is my favorite companion. Inigo is awesome of course but I like Recorder's voice so damn much. The voice of a goddess. Besides Ambriel does anyone know does Recorder interact with any other mod followers? I got Recorder, Caseia and Inigo following me around but thinking about adding Ambriel. Caseia is eh.

I really like Sofia shes another female companion shes so great and shes got just as much dialogue as all these guys

Also as of December, there's a new droid follower based off BB8 called snippy on the nexus. It's really cool and acutely more friendly!

I'm late, but Mirai is the absolute best imo. Her quest is surprisingly lore friendly and the voice actress is amazing.
The only downside is... her age lol It's weird that you can romance a 17 yr old.
better to can than having to (the can for players around that age and with characters around that age while others can avoid it)

The games medieval based, they had fairly lower standard on pedophilia. The moment they were 16 they were legal (sometimes even younger depending on where you were)

XDD I installed her without first hearing her voice, just being aware of all the positive feedback over her, and I kid you not, when she walked up to me in the Inn and started going on about the two thugs or whatever for her first quest, I told her to go away and haven't returned to that quest since XDD
This is my problem too, the companion / follower is like a game of its own, but hearing that broken Swenglish from every Vilja character really makes it rough have Vilja following me around.
I couldn't do a better job myself I'm sure and I admire the voice actors for their efforts, non-swedish people really enjoy Vilja

My favorite follower is M.H.A.R.P.H.I.N. I rarely see him make lists like this, which is a shame because a lot of work went into him (over 1000 lines and various sound effects) and he's hilarious.

A suggestion for the mod author for recorder relics of high rule is a massively awesome mod should make some dialog options so that recorder reacts when you find certain items such as the heroes clothes or the master sword maybe. Just the thought daddy awesome.
For those interested, the mod added dialog web that was brought up for Inigo and Vilja doesn't just include those two. Lucian, a Scholar from the Imperial City, can be found at the Dead Man's Drink in Fallkreath, and the opening quest to recruit him actually has him hiring the player as a bodyguard and will grow and develop his combat style as you fight with him in your party. I also remember Lucien whispering in my character's ear about how uneasy he is because Inigo got curious and sniffed him. There's also Kaidan, a heavy armor/two-handed weapon specialist. The opening quest to get him is rescuing him and recovering his gear from a squad of Thalmor solders in the abandoned prison near the road between Whiterun and Riften. His starting armor is a set of blades armor minus the helmet and his starting sword is a custom blades nodatchi with custom dragon runes on the blade, near the guard. Like Lucien, he's part of the mod added follower dialog web, and he introduced himself not Lucien in the Avery the Relic Hunter Roleplay, not long after both were recruited. Keep in mind, the links that I've provided are to the Special Edition of both Lucien and Kaidan, so you'll probably need to either follow a link to the classic Skyrim versions of both on the page of find them yourself if you still prefer to play the original skyrim.

@@Just_Call_Me_Frosty If you're going to do an updated version of this video for either special or anniversary edition, there's a pretty long list of them as well. The two that I can think of as recent uploads on the Nexus are Xelzaz and Remial. Both are new to the Nexus, as Xelzaz, an argonian that's been recruited into the Dunmeri House Telvani, wasn't put up until February 1st, 2022, and Remial, a dwemer expert that can be found in the in, just inside Markarth's front gate and can summon an upgradable dwemer spider in combat. They will also be able to detect when each other's in the player's followers since I've seen videos of them getting into rather heated debates over the ethics of necromancy.
As for other new followers, though this one doesn't have that much custom dialog with other followers but does hit on some of the less well-known Khajiit lore, doing so much better than Inigo does, is Sa'chil. The mod author made her specifically a Dagi raht, putting her overall height on par with the vanilla child models while also buffing her magical skills, as this furstock's main talents are magic and climbing. The author also went ahead and gave Sa'chil a Palmar raht brother, making him the Khajiit version of Shaquille O'Neill, with his big talent being unarmed fighting.
Man, the Xbox One community is really lagging behind in terms of custom-voiced followers. We've got Caesia, Sophia, Kaiden, Recorder, and M'Rissi, all of which are great, but we are hurting for variety.
Joshua Olsen we got a decent one called Lucien.

It would great if someone did a custom follower that wasn't really for combat, but more of a bard? Type of follower for a home. Play instruments, tell tales, or even read (random) books that are placed into his/her inventory.

Of all the voiced followers available in xbox one, the only one I know of that actually comments on the dragonborn and dawnguard dlc is Auri.

Whenever I hear Recorder, I can't help seeing MxR in my head. Also, when Ambriel and Recorder talk to each other, it's basically just PotasticPanda being a schizo and talking to herself

I always considered it somewhat more of a quest mod, but it's pretty hard to categorize I gues.
I suspected that Bishop came from Neverwinter Nights 2, then I saw him talking to a girl called Neeshka and I confirmed it.
Bishop is totally Alister from Dragon Age Origins. Hell, even his dog has the Mabari bark.

And Acalypha is Morrigan
I would trade all of these time-travelling, half-angel half-demon, long-lost-queen, fourth-wall-breaking, "funny" [eyeroll], jokey dummies for one lore-friendly normal companion who had an actual personality and meaningful things to say about our travels.

I'm getting Hocus Pocus vibes from Acalypha
In my opinion, everyone except Inigo are very unimmersive, they look kind of unfitting in the Skyrim settings, they fit more in japanese-like rpg and stand out from the typical vanilla character design. There is also too much on their own lore, which is mostly interesting to those, who completed every other single vanilla and dlc storyline - which takes hundreds of hours of much more immersive and interesting gameplay. I'm not including Vilja because of poor quality audio, ruining great actor performance. Though, Recorder is ok, because she constantly brakes 4th wall to compensate her unimmersiveness. Inigo, on the other hand, sounds, like he was voiced by an actual living Khajit, is very reactive on everything you do and have, while not being annoying and adding more immersion to the original storylines.
If you do look more into the romance mod you can find that yes he does stand out from the vanilla npcs but there are many other characters around skyrim that the mod creator implemented that balances it out in a sense. I also highly recommend it now that the 3.1 version is finally out and it makes the characters seem more lively. But, if you are still unsure I think you should watch grims play through of the mod because if you at least if you aren't planning to get the mod you can get some entertainment from his play through. Sorry for the rant though the comment was made months ago.
Try to add Auri form the song of green and Lucien. They both interact with inigo and are very lore friendly. Lucien is from cyrodil and Auri is from valenwood. Both are pretty cool and lore friendly and since they interact with inigo it's more fun.
Now if only someone would port these to special edition. Well the ones that are able to be ported

Sadly, Murai didn't work out well at all for me. Save game bloats, quest's didn't update. It's a damn shame because she really can be a great follower.

Jeez, I don't know who I want to use now. Started a new game last night and this time I'm really using new mods all around. Sofia remained in my load order, but she can get a bit annoying at times. I'm leaning toward Mirai and Acalypha.

I can never get used to using Recorder or Ambriel after how many Henry/MxR and Jeanie/PotasticPanda videos I've watched. I just hear Jeanie the whole time and I can't hear it as its own character. It's jarring, a shame too because both followers have fun and interesting concepts behind them.

Recorder is created/voiced by Jeannie Lee, you can see her on MxR mods, MxR plays, and on her twitch PotasticP. She is pretty damn funny and hot AF..
I didn't realize for a while she also voiced Ambriel. She's a good voice actor.

Well I know that the skyrim romance mod and recorder do work for special edition but I'm not sure for the other followers
Almost all of them, I’m not sure about Acalypha, Cerwiden or Mirai for example
Viljas voice acting is so bad I always had to RP that she had some kind of brain damage in order for me to accept it. Which I happily did cuz she is an amazing follower.
Inigo, Sophia, Mrissi, And the Daedric bitchs.
