I didn't even realize how much of a monster this gun was, and that reciprocating action thing😮 I remember ogling this gun..or at least a similar one in Cabelas when I was a kid just because of the FPS. I was probably imagining how many frogs I could kill with it lol not even realizing it was the size of a cannon. That would have been hilarious if my parents actually got it for me.

Probably good that they didn’t. 😀 Then you don’t have to deal with the regrets that your younger self didn’t take the best care with it.
My beloved ‘85 RWS Model 36 bears the scars of an 8th grader who didn’t take care of the stock as well as I would today. I’ve taught myself to not get bummed about small nicks, dents and scratches in new vehicles as that adds Alaskan character.
But I still can’t view the water damage to my Model 36’s stock through that lens… yet.

@@airgunsofalaska Oh yeah, looking back I can't believe the abuse I put my 34 through. Dropping it in the water/mud, keep shooting it without any cleaning or drying, stuffing bbs in the breech with grass to keep them in place, leaving it out in the rain, telling my dog to bite the stock. Just adds character to it now haha. I guess once we grow up that's when we start with 'ah dangit, a scratch on my gun/truck'😄

Best mount, if you are concerned about recoil, is a Sportsmatch dampa-mount. They are designed for gas-rams primarily. For a springer and a 54 in particular, since the whole action is on a sledge, I'd just use a quality one piece with a recoil stud or fix an arrestor block. Scotland UK

I have the 48, same action but it is fixed to the stock, love it, a fixed barrel gun the AA tx200 and the weirauch 97, the are inherently more accurate than a break barrel. This one is fixed barrel also and the sliding action takes the hold factor out of the equation and should be very repeatable. Genius design.

I agree to an extent. But, as the sliding parts wear, the tolerances will become looser and accuracy will suffer. Perhaps a buffer of some fashion could be fitted to the rear of the sliding action to reduce the shock to the scope?
I should do some research as the gun doesn’t recoil hard in any way to the shooter. I’d just read the Air King was a scope killer and didn’t want to damage my scopes. Maybe it doesn’t even need this mount?

Just got my Air King Pro Laminate 22 caliber on 9/25/23 . My first attemp at shooting was disappointing as I tried to cock the gun , the sear would not catch so here I am adjusting the trigger on a 800.00 pellet gun . Then on my second and third try the recoil pins have C-clips that just took off . So a trip to the hardware store was in order . All back together now and hoping for better luck . People can say what they want but I never had any such issues with my Gamo's . One positive note ...very easy to work on . I would take your stock off frequently to make sure everything is in place . Maybe better quality inspections are the answer ? This one may have been overlooked ? Really beautiful rifle , hope I don't have to send her back 😮‍💨

The Seneca Dragonfly I owned briefly literally had parts falling off it as I shot the gun. The Mag-Fire Extreme I also briefly owned had an alignment issue and shaved pellets as they loaded into the breech and the auto loading mechanism kept sticking. That POS went back to Airgun Depot for a full refund. My Benjamin 397 starting holding air within the first month or two of use. I guess the Germans aren’t immune to post COVID quality problems either? For the price though it’s simple unacceptable.

I purchased a new one last August. Biggest disappointment in my air rifle life. Nothing worked. First time cocking gun, sear would not release. And to top everything off it’s barrel droop was so bad that my ZR mount could not bring it up, ran out of scope elevation adjustment. It also shot to far to the left , ran out of windage adjustment and came with a torn breech seal . There was more power in a cheep sling shot.
Paid over$ 1000.00, owned it for two days but dealer would not take it back, had to be shipped to warranty at my expense. Diana warranty had it 8 months , sent it back , replaced trigger , spring but not breech seal and didn’t address other issues. Disappointing to say the least.
Finally Hector Medina , world class air-gunsmith from Maryland offered to fix the barrel and some other things. He is affiliated with Diana and is on the US Springer National Team that competed in the World Championships in 😮South Africa this summer. He is also a great guy. He also worked on the ZR mount so 0 lateral play. I now have a very accurate 54 but took a year of stress and much disappointment to get there.

@@airgunsofalaska You don't have to looks like precision isn't important for you. But in sport it's essential.

@@snd7622 I can see that. If you were competitively shooting you always want better and better.

Too heavy and expensive. Buy a modern pcp like brocock, avenger x fx line. Pcps are alot more accurate and light weight. Shoot slugs and play with different power settings and pellet grains.

Pros and cons, pros and cons. You don’t mention the need for a compressor if a guy wants to shoot a PCP regularly and with rhythm that a springer or a pumper allows. I have a hand pump and dislike the long durations of pumping to recharge. The Air King excels at being accurate and self contained. All I need is it and a ton of pellets and I can shoot and shoot.
It all depends on what you want to do and what you want to spend money on.

Lol the Diana is just as accurate as a PcP.

The springer is what keeps it fun.

@@sid35gb Not even close. With my Walter LG400 Anatomic I can put literally pellet on pellet. But Diana is one of 4 the best springers next to Weihrauch HW97k, Air Arms tx200 and Walther LGU . Diana is something unique and like all top springers more fun factor than PCP's. But quality PCP is definitely much more accurate.
