Love the song...where really telling the story of dreamies emotionally views about graduation system they had before. Their performance in music gore where they really tears renjun while performing.
apologies again for another long comment from your local crazy dreamzen lmao just breaking down/providing some additional context to lines from graduation, because it's a very meaningful/deep song with a lot of "lore" from nct dream's history as a group (also noting that the english translations in that lyric video aren't the best, so please refer to my translated lyrics!): "when did i start thinking, 'can i stay by your side forever'?" this speaks to 6dream's (nct dream minus mark) thoughts towards mark's graduation from the group at the end of 2018. they're ruminating and thinking back to those times when they were apart, and wishing to be together as a group of seven again. "when it's hard for me to believe in anyone, you're always there for me, standing in the same place" refers to 6dream's reliance in their leader mark, who they've called the "pillar" of the group and someone they trust and lean against. mark is so, so important to them and his graduation was a huge blow. "now i will stop graduating; those countless days filled with worry/anxiety; remember this overwhelming feeling" refers to their collective relief that the stupid graduation concept has been scrapped, and that they no longer have to worry about their future as a group. they will always be seven moving forward, and nothing can change that. "we're white aliens, look around; it's just the two of us" is a bit of an inside joke, because they like to call mark an alien and they had an alien concept for hello future (where they were aliens from space coming to earth to spread peace and love, lmao) "always somehow feeling inadequate, not knowing what to do; that was the young/small adult inside me from long ago" rapped by mark, it expresses how he had felt a lot of responsibility and pressure as the young leader of nct dream. he debuted as a leader at age 16- it's crazy to think about how much was heaped onto his shoulders at such a young age. mark is also someone who always strives to be better and is never satisfied with himself, hence the feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty. various references to being lost/finding their way, taking the first steps into a new journey, waving goodbye to the past/leaving the long night, etc = the overall idea that the dream members felt lost when they were separated, but now they have found their way back to each other and are ready to move forward into the light, leaving those days of darkness, sadness, and loneliness behind. and the last line, sung by mark: "what's left after everything has passed are the warmth of our hands, and us" no matter the obstacles they've faced before, what's important is now moving ahead with hands joined together to experience a new journey. they're graduating from graduation with this song- it's a clear, beautiful message to the world that they have grown from their past and are eager to step into a new direction with positivity and happiness :)
and since you've already watched the graduation special video, it would be great to soak in the lyrics as you watch the video again because a lot of the clips they show from their past line up well with the message of the song. from showing us their debut days all the way to we go up era (their last comeback/mini album as 7 before mark's graduation), to the first dream show 2018 (again right before mark's graduation), skipping a lot of the period where mark was gone (boom, reload eras) to hot sauce/hello future/glitch mode/beatbox where nct dream really flourished as artists because they were finally complete again. the clips of them shouting/chanting together is also really iconic for the group; the first version of their group chant before performing was them putting a foot in the center of a group hug, but it eventually evolved into mark saying "yo, dream!" and the six members replying with "쩔어 주자 화이팅!" which translates to "let's do amazing [on stage], fighting!". there's a clip of boom era 6dream calling mark on the phone from their MV filming set to have him say "yo, dream", because it didn't feel right for anyone besides their leader to do that part of their chant. they really adore mark so, so much and it's so evident which is why it makes you cry! they've gone through a lot but i am so endlessly proud of them for making it through the long night to step into the light.
Thank you once again for giving me all this context! I know lyric videos aren't always going to be the best....it's hard trying to find the right one because...well, lol...I don't know which one is more accurate 😂🤷🏻♂️ But it works out for me anyways because then there'd be nothing to really share with me in the comments lol. Thank you for everything you've posted!! 🥰🙏🏻
