@@Chugloe if you take away the 3D World and Metal variations of Mario and Peach, the babies and the alternate genders for the Inkling and Villager, MK8DX has 29 non clone characters. If you do the same for Tour, you’ll see the MKT has 43 non clone characters

Tbh I don't get why Mario kart 8/deluxe gets so much hate these days. I feel Mario kart fans are like those of Zelda or 3d Mario. When double dash came out mk64 fans hated it, when Wii came out double dash fans hated it, when 8 came out Wii fans hated it. I don't know that seems to be an observation I've made.

Demeech: they have ignored Mario kart 8 deluxe for 4 years so they are obviously working on Mario kart 9 and it will come out soon. It’s been five years and we haven’t even gotten the second wave of the booster course pack. I definitely think they are gonna end the booster course pass years before switch is over and just continue to update tour and Mario kart 9 won’t come out until the next Nintendo console and Mario kart 8 will be over 10.
The reason this game came out was because the mario kart team was working on arms and they wanted a mario kart game at launch, so if arms 2 is announced then no mario kart 9 for switch- I'm worried that could happen because of the great sales and spinoffs like mario kart tour and mario kart live.
Heck, even SML had Magikoopa complaining/ranting about his absence for pleasure of adding baby and metal versions of Mario and Peach in most new Mario games like Mario Kart 8
I hope we get new racers and karts alongside the Booster Course Pass either free, part of the booster Course Pass, or paid separately (at a reasonable price) because HOOOOOOO BOY I hate babies But also, unlike the courses being straight ports of Tour, I would NOT take the racers and Karts directly ported from Tour (unless it's SNES Mario and DK Jr) because they're on-screen at all times, while the courses at least have the excuse of you driving fast trough to really care
Idk if this is actually what you were trying to say when talking about tour Vs 8 deluxe, but I personally do no want a Mariokart that constantly releases new content (especially if the new content costs money). Idc if the game eventually gets boring but you should be able to buy and game and then be able to play the whole thing. I even personally wouldn’t like a game to receive post-release updates (like new tracks or characters) the game should be a finished game upon release in my personal opinion, but you know I’m not the only Mariokart fan, others may feel different

Its probably no wonder we have Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina. Plus Baby Daisy from the beginning. A little weird (especially PGP) but personally I enjoyed them tho.

Ah, Mario Kart 8. This is my second favorite Mario Kart game, behind 64. I remember the hype like it was yesterday... You guys had quite the passionate hate for the roster. Normally, I don't like to entertain the thought of wasted slots, but the base release of 8's roster was bad. I can't deny it. The Koopalings are great, but took up a fourth of the selection. Honestly, I have no real issues with either Baby Rosalina or Pink Gold Peach, but the absence of Diddy Kong, Birdo, and other veterans was jarring. The DLC featured in 8 added some tiny improvements IMO with the return of Dry Bowser, some fun skins for Yoshi and Shy Guy, and a few guests. Deluxe, however, was a noted improvement with Dry Bones, Bowser Jr., and King Boo. Since Deluxe, I now see MK8's roster as passable. The presentation is lovely. Even today, I admire the level of detail put into the tracks and character models. These include new voice clips for many of the veterans. Moreover, the number of tracks to race on is brilliant, each with nicely composed music. No disappointments here. Battle Mode was heavily panned in the original MK8. As much as I had some dumb fun with it, it's no dispute that it was improved upon in Deluxe. I don't play Battle Mode very often, but it's fun to do. Most everyone is ready for Mario Kart 9 at this point. Admittedly, I wish to see what new things this time-tested racing series can do on the Switch with a better roster and perhaps a Mission Mode. However, I'm not really _tired_ of 8 Deluxe. It's still fun to run through every now and then. This was a neat episode, Demeech!

Here’s why I think Mario Kart 9 hasn’t released yet. Mario Kart games release every 3 years (not counting the Arcade GP games or Tour, which seem to have their own patterns). In their eyes, Mario Kart 9 would’ve cut into the ongoing success of 8 Deluxe, so they made Home Circuit instead.
Gliders don’t feel as fun as mariokart 7. They feel like they just slow down the pacing of the game. Yes, 7’s gliders were op, but they were fun! Also, some retro tracks are worse because of the new mechanics. Wario’s Gold Mine is way too easy because now YOU WANT TO BUMP INTO THE MINECARTS! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A CHALLENGE! I think mariokart 8 takes a too casual path which makes it feel a bit less fun
Baby Rosalina does not contradict Rosalina’s story! Don’t listen to the wiki. Rosalina’s crown had no jewels on the storybook’s illustrations bc it was a stylistic choice. You can see Rosalina’s mother who looks almost identical to Rosalina has no jewels on her crown either.
The moment when the devs think Pink Gold Peach is more important than Funky Kong... Also, the Pac-Man costume is the closest we’ll get to them acknowledging Arcade GP aside from the Thundercloud
MK8 has the best selección of tracks! All of the nitro tracks are fun (even the weaker ones) and the retro tracks (except that lazy port of SNES Rainbow Road) are cool (but Wario's Gold Mine was better in Wii because it's hard while here it's easy), N64 Rainbow Road easily has the best remake (to me at least)!

But there's a question that still remains though.... Why was Nintendo lazy at making a new Mario Kart 9? You know, a similar thing did happen this year when instead of a BOTW 2 we got a Wii port of Skyward Sword in HD for the switch.
I would say the game play when you are in the middle of the pack is really bad... the two items make it just a blender and you can’t really keep track of who is where because their is so much turnover

the coin should've had two instead of one to be more clear, having a single one just looks bad visually even though it's a decent item for recovery.

Mario kart 8 Would've Been the best If they Replaced Link and the Animal Crossing Characters with the Likes of Characters from racing Games Like Captain Falcon or The Dude from ExciteBike.

Unfinished games get free updates along the way, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can't. Only now is it getting a new DLC Pack, but minor things like maybe characters and cars could have been cool.

You know, a similar thing did happen this year when instead of a BOTW 2 we got a Wii port of Skyward Sword in HD for the switch.

The most infuriating thing in the game is that theres more nitros than retros, they couldve added another snes track
MK8DX is by far my favorite Mario Kart, almost everything about it besides the roster and single player content is impeccable

This is NOT the last episode. Mario Kart Arcade GP VR is this Saturday February 6th, Tour is after that, and Home Circuit is the finale.

I have over 25 hours in Mario Kart 8 deluxe and have never gotten the 8 item
I've gotten it like twice in my 60+ hours of playtime. Its super rare now but i kinda like that.

I was wondering the same thing! I hope not! Because I wanted some new characters like Kamek, Pauline, or other metal versions of Mario characters.
I would say the game play when you are in the middle of the pack is really bad... the two items make it just a blender and you can’t really keep track of who is where because their is so much turnover
This game is my favorite Mario kart, I love it More then Wii!
