Anch'io ho avuto il grande piacere di ascoltarlo dal vivo quando è venuto a Firenze al MMF nel 2021 per un recital e nel 2022 in una opera Romeo e Giulietta. Infine sempre nel 2022 in un recital al teatro alla scala accompagnato al pianoforte dal maestro Scalera. Ascolto sempre da you tube sue performances.
Listening to this interview with JDF one can realise how hard and demanding a career of an operatic star singer is, how much effort it costs. It's not only "glamour", as JDF said some years later. I wish him possibly the longest and most brilliant career cause he is a completely unique phenomenon on the operatic stage but I'm not sure whether he will sing till his seventies, as Alfredo Kraus did. In 2014 JDF's singing is not as easy and secure as it was some years ago. IMHO he made some repertoire mistakes in the last couple of years. But he still is an unquestionable king of bel canto to me and his voice remains so beautiful that I shall forgive him all likely imperfections and only repeat somebody's charming appeal: "Canta, rossignol, canta!" And take care of Your valuable health...

I think he's being very careful. With a renowned leggero voice, it probably pays not to commit to repertoire that might be detrimental to the voice. I guess that's why he does not make bold assertions about what he could/might do.
I can understand English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. There is a beautiful interview in French also very interesting. The wonder of human diversity.
