you really did not mention the other job on your to-do list... planning and executing all the shots required to tell your story so well in pictures. you do it so well, most don't notice that you create and keep such an excellent video narrative. you are understated but quite sophisticated. two thumbs up for planning, filming, and editing.
Hey Devon, I see you are hard at it again. Always busy. I know you were commenting on the HEPA vacuum not dispersing unwanted particulates... Maybe you and mom talk dad into a central vacuum that is mounted outside and you just move the hose from place to place.. No contamination as all the exhaust is forced out of the protected greenhouse. 😊 Hope your day is a beautiful one. 🙂
Hey, Devon!! I recently stumbled upon your channel. You and your family are an inspiration and so much fun to watch!! Congrats from Mexico City and thank you for sharing so much of your work at the farm with us!!
Hi Devon Those are good looking tomatoes. You and your family are a 1st class act! Good morals and beliefs, HARD work and determination. My hats off to you guys. Take care
Love your videos and story telling you do showing all the hard work you put in at the greenhouse! Your video skills seem to continue to improve, keep up the great work!
Hey Dev, that weed is a curly dock and they have a huge taproot. I sit in front of the tv and rewind my bobbins, it takes a while to do 500 for the three houses that I do lower-and -lean on. I have two houses that have just strings dropped, three for each plant as I go to three leaders on each plant and as they grow up I go sideways without lowering. I like the sideways method for the middle of the summer, I get extra shade for the fruit and have less yellow shoulders and white cores. Single leader, lower and lean will expose the fruit to sunlight and cause the fruit to ripen improperly in tunnels that don't have any cooling like mine. I wish I had a water wall like yours but I get by. Good luck on your peas, I got a lousy stand planting them on the 5th of April, should have waited. Thanks for posting.
That makes sense about the weed. We could not pull it out. That's a good idea and you have tons of bobbins. I like your sideways method, and it makes sense for sure. The water wall is nice, and we also have to put shade paint on the greenhouse in the summer too or we start having problems with the tomatoes and the lettuce bolting. Thank you and I hope you get some good peas as well. Maybe you can throw some more in and see how they do. Have a great week! -Devon
Another lovely video. It's not hard to tell you put a lot of thought into them. I'm watching you from Montreal and have been noticing the similarities in our weather patterns and unsimilarities. We keep getting nice weather and then suddenly it's cold again. Lots of rain. Your videos bring a little sanity into this crazy Covid world.
Be safe northern neighbor. Im in michigan and woke up to a light frost. I have stuff under cover of floating row covers or frost cloth. It goes by so many names. But the stuff on the patio I forgot so ran out before the sun hit them and drenched them a bit with water. They are cold weather crops but I had only just been hardening them off this week.
Sounds good! I don’t mind the smell. My fingers turn green when I work on the plants. Old fashioned bar soap works good to get it off. Have a wonderful day! 🍅☀️💚
Good morning Devon! We look forward to seeing your peppers and strawberries take off! It's also warming up lots here and before we know it the cherries will be ready for the market. We haven't converted the high tunnel yet but it's in the planning process. Our little NFT experiment it working very well. Thank you Devon, Kati and Doug for all your tips and tricks.
Hello! Glad to hear all of the good updates. I get very excited when cherries are in season at the grocery store. They are usually from Washington state. That’s so cool you grow them. We are planting more summer crops now in the NFT and so far they are doing well. The bad weather from two weeks ago didn’t seem to affect my little peach trees luckily. Hope you continue to have nice spring weather! 🌸
@@HomegrownPassion Are you back on the channel. Mom and dad are wonderful but I started watching your channel because of Devan. I love your style, perspective and the mix you videoed. One of my favorite you filmed was the Maple Syrup. Please say you have returned to the channel. Miss you 🥺🥺🥺
Ah dang ...I gotta go do a little harvesting myself....I'll be watching this later! Thanks for giving me something to look forward to...tell Buck everyone here is a fan of y'alls maple syrup...best we've ever had by a long shot!!!! Can't say enough about you folks!!
Devon awesome video..your editing and style is spot on..i was looking up those grow bags last night and one bunch came with a plastic tray to set them on.. i,ve seen the same tray at the dollar general store with the flower pots..there clear round plastic with a lip around the edge.they might save you the scrubing..have a great weekend.
Devon, you need a small electric pressure washer for the stains. Something like one of the inexpensive Ryobi models would do great. No bending over just like sweeping with a water broom.
That would be really nice. There’s some stains on the cement in the back from the wet wall. We’ll probably get Doug’s gas power washer out when we replace the covering eventually. It will be nice to get it all clean.
Also in this video you can see that everything is very clean and systematically structured down to the last detail. With your experience, the business is very successful 🙂👍👍
I'm not sure if its allowed but I found a bit of baking soda really got rid of green algae buildup on my cement patio. I was out of bleach so I just used my little scrubby brush got the slab damp and sprinkled it on and scrubbed it in. It worked rather well. I havent had a lot of green regrowth there but like you mine was a leaky potted plant and I stopped putting that planter on the patio lol
After a long time watching your videos, very good information. I like your mom's Idea for growbags. I am soo curious to know about your return on investment. You people growing very consciously, caring of each plant. I am from india we harvest almost 200 to 500 kg Tomatoes daily in season on land ( not hydroponics). But feel like we are not getting proper returns for our work.
Good morning Devon! Curious, what's the overnight lows in the high tunnel? Since it's not heated. I'm thinking of transplanting peppers into my high tunnel. The tomatoes look so yummy!
Hi Lee! We moved everything out to the high tunnel once we saw it wasn’t going to get below 35 degrees. It should keep heat in if we get an usually cold day. Hope you get lots of good peppers this year!
@@HomegrownPassion Hi Devon, I always wanted to ask: (1) what are key differences between (a) Greenhouse and (a) High Tunnel? I think I know this, but wanted to confirm from someone who has been using both for a while. I am sure dad may want to tip in as well. Another question I meant to as for a while too: (2) about your lettuces (lose leaf green and purple), (c) what is the time to maturity and (d) what varieties and cultivars are they? I know from some of your videos that you purchase your seeds mostly from "Johnny’s Selected Seeds", but I do not recall which varieties. Ok, now that I have asked my questions, let me congratulate you one one darn informative, inspiring, and beautiful video again! As many have mentioned already, it really shows how much you like what you do, and how much love you put into filming and, increasingly more recently, into editing. An vivid illustration is that, Mum might have lightly pointed out at the need for you to shorten the stem on cut tomatoes. But you took it upon yourself to insert that remark and it's solution into this video, wow! I salute your dedication to sharing knowledge! Oh, one last question, while I am at it: (3) what software/program do you use for editing your videos? That would be question (e), wouldn't it? Well, I guess I have been holding a lot! Thank you very much for all you do; always a pleasure watching your video and looking forward to more!
