Exquisite music. No wonder Handel included music by Muffat in a notebook he took with him wherever he went. The Fuga is quite unique in its multiple themes and use of stretto. Handel's brilliant and dramatic albeit wayward polyphony (wayward as in not adhering to strict formal contrapuntal structure) feels akin to Muffat's liberal use of formal fugal practice. the Adagio is meltingly resplendent.
Good rendition of a quite underrated composer. Thank you for sharing. Just a very small correction: the painting is "the portrait of Anna Caffarelli Minutoli"
You small correction seems wrong. I could not find your stated name in connection with the painter. Only with a Palazzo. "Palazzo Chigi of Ariccia". Maybe you mixxed something up?
Anna Caffarelli, (1644-1693) daughter of the nobles don Pietro Caffarelli from Rome and donna Lucrezia Gaettana from Naples. Antonio Minutillo was his mother's cousin.
music beautiful beyond words from a composer little known and whose works are seldom played in our time.
Chi ha avuto dimestichezza col genio musicale di Corelli e Lulli non poteva esimersi dal produrre una simile meraviglia!
Wonderful. I listen to this at the beginning and the end of every day. ❤️💐🥰

One of my favorite pieces to add to a concert.
Fantastisch, erleuchtete Schönheit .... ❤
