I remember getting this guy for Christmas when I was in kindergarten. My parents got it for me for 15$ at a flea market. It broke. But i recently got it again and oh boy does it hold up
As an young collector, I find it very cool to listen about how Spider-Man was important to you in the years before social media and the modern day internet. They made some incredible figures back in the day that are so awesome. I mean, where are you ever going to see a Spidey figure with articulation in each individual knuckle?? As much as I enjoy collecting the new shiny things, and being the die-hard Spider-Man fan I am today, I can't help but have so much respect and even nostalgia for some of the amazing figures and toys that came out back then. Sometimes I can't help but feel like I was born in the wrong year. Love watching these videos man, they make me very happy.
I remember seeing the giant Spider-man in stores back 2004. I bought one used years later at local toy convention. The ridiculous articulation is my favourite part of the figure(I don’t have any accessories, he came with snap on web shooters with different projectiles).
A trip in time Magazines, online boards, and trips to the toysrus was how it was done back on the days. To be honest i miss those days hunting and waiting was part of the fun and frustration lol
It was different, it was great! I remember running out at 11pm to a Wal Mart across town based on a message board rumor (struck out on what I was looking for -POTF - but found the Bat-Man animated Harley Quinn!). So many memories!
The 18 inch spiderman was my most wanted figure as a kid. I was lucky enough to hunt for him around 2005 at a flea market for $5. Throughout the years i kept finding more at flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, & even online for DIRT CHEAP. Fast forward to 2017 i got a sealed one on ebay for around $60. I have 6 loose & 1 sealed.
Gahlee, I remember finding the 18" Spidey at a thrift store as a kid! Got it for like $5 and loved actually playing with it. But then I "grew up" and started donating most of my toys and that was one that went. Looking back, I can't believe I did that, because it's just such a cool figure!
Thanks! There is plenty of negativity in this world - why would we share that in this hobby that we love? I can be critical of figures, but I try to always find the good. Great avatar, BTW!
I'm 2 years to late but I'm ganna leave a comment anyway. I love Carbon Scoring, I love action figures, and I don't want to be anywhere else but here watching this video. and CS if you ever see this I want you to know you are a cool guy and I love watching your videos. especially the mystery boxes!
The little pig guys are called Tsum Tsums. I never got into them, but got a bunch of the Star Wars ones as gifts since that's my main fandom and they were like the cheapest Star Wars things. My understanding is that they're based on a Japanese like playground game where people would stack rocks or something.
I started watching your channel a little while ago and I'm loving to see these mystery box with old and no figures, it's really really great and relaxing to watch in a way, but I have some comments that I thought during the video 18:32 - In fact this is a misconception that many people end up thinking, the amazing fantasy cover was designed by Jack Kirby and not Steve Ditko, he who drew a big spider on his chest and thin eyes, Steve ditko actually drew big eyes from early on even in amazing fantasy 15 11:56 and 16:20 - This big-eyed style looks more like the drawing style of Mark Bagley and Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane's eyes were even bigger and more pointed and triangular, and there were thousands and thousands of web lines all over his body. 15:19 - That's is from a Disney mobile game called Tsu tsu 28:37 - That figure it's so great, it was always my childhood dream to have this figure, the only thing I think could be better it's that lines from the eyes could be more thick
Thanks for the great, well informed comment. You are correct that Jack Kirby pencilled the cover to Amazing Fantasy 15 after the Ditko cover was rejected (it did survive, however and was published as a bonus cover for issue 700, I think). But, Kirby's cover was based on Ditko's costume design and for sure Ditko's look changed and evolved over the years. So, I would argue that while you are right, Kirby drew that cover, it was still Ditko's character design that was represented. As far as the eyes go - that figure doesn't really match any of those artists eyes, but since Todd really brought them to prominence, he get the nod. Love those Tsum Tsums and I agree, the big figure would be improved with more black around the eyes - I have always thought that as well!
That's great! Thanks for being there from the very beginning. And by very beginning, I mean coming up with the name of the channel and registering the account and pushing me down this amazing road to adventure!
WOW!!! No joke?!? I guess that there is ZERO argument on who the number 1 fan of your channel is!! Many content creators can only dream of a fan like Blake here! Count your blessings!
It's funny how some people get so angry when others mess up with the names of the 5 Venoms when in the original comics like 3 of them look alike and even Spidey mixes them up sometimes lol
Man this channel is really helping me with my comic book vocabulary and choosing my figures as well. Keep up the good work cause this has to be the most fun and educational toy unboxing/review along with some fun tidbits
Thank you so much for bringing these memories back to me man!! It means the world being able to go back in time for a moment, I used to have that big spiderman, I remember all the times it used to pinch my fingers as a kid
Awesome video! I would love to see a vid about the marvel lines that tried to replicate mego's style like the captain action reboot line as well as what diamond select offered with the vintage collection I believe
Congratulations on 10000! I'll definitely have to snag some merch! Love the channel and all the videos you do. Your video quality is awesome and I always look forward to your new videos! Please do the famous covers line that'd be awesome!
Happy 10,000! I've been enjoying the hell out of your videos since I found your channel, and I hope that you keep on pumping out the great content so we can keep on enjoying it. Congrats!
I used to collect figures and comics from like very young all the way to like 12 years old I had so many figures but in each box of figures i always had atleast 1-2 rare figures so when I sold them after a while I got loads of money and soon I'm going to start working so I think I'm gonna get back into the collecting I still have some comics under my bed and some accessories like the Glider from TASM 2 and a few funko pops it's not the figures I miss it's the unboxing and buying them that really gets me it's a small passion that you never loose great video
wow, that Spidey; i remember i was like 13 and i wanted him so bad. ( was cheaper much more cheaper than a Haslab Giant Man) but i was more into 8 inches figures
Hey CS, I got a question for you. If there was one character that has never been venomized/interacted with a symbiote, who would you want it to be? Personally I’m gonna say that a Venomized version of Black Widow would be cool, even if it was Claire Voyant as the host!
@@CarbonScoring Well CS, have I got a surprise for you! While it’s not necessarily cannon in the marvel universe (and I know in your videos you mentioned how you don’t play video games a lot), there is a character in Marvel Contest of Champions named Venom the Duck and it is just CRAZY!! The symbiote completely devoured poor Howie! And there’s just so much….TEETH!
I remember one of my relatives had the last figure and he(the figure)was so cool, I think I accidentally broke it though,(side note) Facebook came out in 2004 so it existed at the time, so did deviant art which was in 2000
I got my 18 Spidey his right leg the ratchet in the lower knee and his foot are no longer working but I have him sitting on my shelf & behind him is the 12” Spider-Man 2
I know I've commented alot but those little round dudes that you couldn't remember the names of were called "tsum tsums" I collected over a hundred of them 😅
I didn't know that. Was there a precursor line to pops that had that design or were they just making different types of bobble heads until the pop brand struck gold?
@@CarbonScoring they were kind of the same line. As far as I know they have mostly gone back and updated a lot of the older figures they’ve done but the main differences is on the old ones they didn’t have eye brows and on characters with special eyes they still used the black circle eyes but now they use eyebrows and for characters like spidey with his special shaped eyes they use that shape instead of the circles that’s how you can see the age. It’s still funko pop they just old. So basically just kept changing it til they struck gold.
I agree, that was right at the end of the time that Toy Biz had the Marvel license and, man, they went out with a bang, producing some of the best figures of the entire line

15:33 In case anyone is still wondering, they're called "Tsum Tsum" . The Disney line was HUGE and I rmb owning some.

I have the same exact venom and carnage figures
I loved the old Playskool Spidey figures I had Alot of them when I was growing up
So. Much. FUN!
the 18 inch Spidey is insane, the best part is, the extra joints dont make the aesthetics ugly.
I liked the peter head
