Yes, Wireshark is a powerful network protocol analyzer that works well with various Wi-Fi adapters, including the AWUS036ACS. You can use Wireshark on Kali Linux to capture and analyze network traffic. Here’s how to get started: Install Wireshark: If you haven’t already, install Wireshark on your Kali Linux system: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wireshark Run Wireshark: Open Wireshark from the application menu or by typing wireshark in the terminal. You might need to run it with root privileges (use sudo wireshark). Select the Correct Interface: In Wireshark, go to Capture > Interfaces. Choose the network interface associated with your AWUS036ACS (e.g., wlan0). Click Start to begin capturing packets. Analyze Captured Packets: Wireshark will display captured packets in real-time. You can apply filters, search for specific protocols, and analyze network behavior. Monitor Mode: To use Wireshark effectively for wireless analysis, you’ll want to put your AWUS036ACS into monitor mode. Use the following commands to enable monitor mode: sudo ifconfig wlan0 down sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor sudo ifconfig wlan0 up Start Capturing: Go back to Wireshark and click Start to capture packets in monitor mode. Remember that Wireshark is a powerful tool, and understanding network protocols and packet analysis concepts will help you make the most of it. Happy packet sniffing!
I have a Alfa AWUS036ACM but im having trouble connecting it to kali linux on oracle vm it either says the usb cant be connected or it disconnects after a few mins is there a fix?
Hello! It seems you’re experiencing connectivity issues with your Alfa AWUS036ACM USB Wi-Fi adapter in Kali Linux running on Oracle VM. Let’s troubleshoot this together: USB Connection Issues: First, ensure that the USB pass-through is correctly configured in Oracle VM VirtualBox. In the VM settings, navigate to USB and add a USB filter for your Alfa adapter (look for the chipset name or model). Make sure the Alfa adapter is connected to the VM when Kali is running. Network Configuration: Go to the VM settings and navigate to Network. If your connection is configured with NAT, consider changing it to a bridged network adapter. Choose the Alfa adapter from the drop-down menu. Confirm Adapter Availability in Kali: Start your Kali VM and go to Devices > USB. Look for a device related to your Alfa adapter (e.g., mediatek 0100). Click it to connect. Check wlan0 Availability: Open a terminal in Kali and type: lsusb Confirm that the Alfa adapter is recognized (look for the chipset name). Type: sudo ifconfig wlan0 up This should activate the adapter. Test Connectivity: Confirm that the Alfa adapter is working by checking if wlan0 appears: ifconfig wlan0 If it’s there, you should be good to go! Remember to replace any placeholders (like chipset names) with the actual information related to your Alfa adapter. If you encounter any further issues, feel free to ask-I’m here to help!
