I was answering a question re the reason why OTHER PEOPLE MIGHT have ticked dislike. I was not one. No, artistry takes many forms, not just balletic. Remembering Bicherova's "disco" floor. It showed great artistry & dance with disco moves. Biles simply isn't a great dancer. She plays to her strengths & is entertaining to watch. But anyone not really liking her will give lack of artistry as their reason. Biles DOES show artistry a lot of the time, ie her leaps are in full splits & high. But her feet are awful. But many people prefer a more elegant artistic floor & beam, compared to the lost beauty from the past. And that doesn't mean they have to do a balletic routine. Let's not forget the title of this sport is ARTISTIC gymnastics, not acrobatics.

It is the CoP that is at fault that a gymnast with big tumbles, yet few dance skills & lacking on the artistry side should be able to win a world floor title. She won according to the code. But it is flawed. Go & look at the world floor winning routine from 1981 & have a look at what artistry is. Natalia Illienko.
glad to see she's doing well on floor agian-amazing that she stuck all of her passes!! I know if she competes a routine like this in competition she will surely win :) also happy to see her beam training didn't rattle her on floor - truly love her floor routine

+Amy Brown I think Gabby is just on the rebound and rebuilding her skills. I can see her routine getting better with a crowd and once she's more comfortable and not in "comeback" mode.
If you're too uncomfortable with your gym skills, you're going to be too self-conscious to sell your performance. How many times have we seen gymnast who had an amazing or great FX only to have that suffer when they put in upgrades they were not comfortable with (or got injured and are struggling to keep skills)? I think she's probably prioritizing keeping her skills over her dance and choreography. Gabby's choreography has never been great, but I found her a lot better in 2012 than she was in 2011 when she was recovering from injury that affected her at 2011 Nationals. I foresee something similar happening if Gabby keeps building up and progressing. The confidence and comfort will make her dancing much more convincing and maybe she'll even add choreography.
Simone doesn’t get enough credit for her leaps because her legs aren’t as elongated to show the lines. The air time she gets and the strength of her back legs allows for the overextension. Also the 🐐 has the best choreography leading into her wolf turns.
I know that Simone is the best in the world because she has that huge difficulty, but her gymnastics has no grace and is not beautiful. It's a shame that today is no longer required to be a graceful gymnast to win.
