- I had always been curious about the Tern GSD,and amazingly i seem to have some how managed to blag one off of www.carryme.or... The founder Alix Stredwick had kindly let me use one for a week. Here are my thoughts on theTern Gsd.
I’ve been looking at this bike for a while as a mom in the US with a kid who does a ton of shopping and doesn’t own a car. This has been the most helpful review. I think this is the bike we’ll be getting.
Yeah seems to be a good bike ! But for the price it's the same as a car ou maybe even more expensive
@@algeria_online_fair Upfront it might be more pricey than a used car (although currently I'm not even sure that's likely). Long term? No way. Car maintenance, insurance, registration, depreciation, and repairs will dwarf a bike long term. And lets not forget the most expensive part of a car, gasoline.
@@algeria_online_fair for the same amount of money, you can get a high quality electric bike, or a beater car that you'll have to tank money into, if you actually want to be safe. I mean, I get why someone would want a car. But if you can bike, choose to bike. It's healthier and more practical for most trips.
Seems like a great commuter. Two questions though:
1. Why would anyone buy a pannier that's not waterproof?
2. Why didn't you move the kid's seat all the way to the back of the rack. I get claustrophobic just by looking at him so close to your back.
Thanks for the review!
I purchased a JuicedBike electric bicycle earlier this year and love it... I don't understand why more manufacturers don't make them useful like the tern... If you want to replace a car you need storage... Why don't they split the cover for the rear basket so you can use the cover and the child seat... put a zipper or velcro on it to cover the storage in rainy weather... You seem like the happiest person on earth...it's a joy to watch your videos....
Excellent review thank you. I think reviewing alternative modes of transport is very interesting. The first thing I noticed about that bike is that the front carrier is connected to the frame, not the forks, which is a good sign, that is very stable. Having Theo along really helps because often I see these kind of bikes reviewed by a single adult and of course many who are interested will have children.
I love how this "review" is more like Londoner gets hold of nice bike, shows his friends. Lol. A natural reaction of course
You can dissemble the handlebar and there should be paint scrapes where the noise is coming from. Just place a bit of thin rubber in there and reassemble.
Heya! That stem creak can be fixed by tightening the stem's folding latch. The S10 has pretty well understood issues now (brake mounts need facing, bike stand is made of cheese, the motor issue you mention), but it's a great urban solution.
Great video and review. Looks like you had fun making it and folks liked riding it. I'm glad you demonstrated how the kid seats attach - was curious about that.
For me the Shimano steps wins the day. Guess I'm biased since I have one, please take that with a grain of salt. Off, Eco, Normal and High, basically I use only Off or Eco when shopping and around town. With the that setting I get around 180km distance. When using High on a 30km round trip I use around 14% of the battery. The bike is an Dutch designed upright aluminium bike, produced in Poland.
Your buddy doesn't like it coz he doesn't sell them... Review one of his bikes and you'll get a much better response
I love your channel and your choice of music
Yes great video and channel, the bike is great excellent for around town on dry days. But price is a bit high.
I got the HSD which is a little more compact than the GSD and I love it.
That is such delightful music. I'm really taken with it. Who is is by?
@Ronald McDonaldtrump LOL, not French.
Awesome review. It kind of looks like on of those moped scooters when it is loaded up and running. Also, that is an adorable child, I don’t think I was that cute XD
the handlebar squeaking sound can cause from the front wheel and the fork not well tighten. I have the tern x20 and it make that sound too when the front wheel is loose. Just tighten it.
Amazing cover song!!🙌🏿🙌🏿
It took me second. I was like: "I know that song. Why do I know that song?".
Rebel Rebel by David Bowie.
When you have the Bosch engine you only use the Turbo mode.
Great review. What was that pretty song at the beginning?
@Ronald McDonaldtrump That's not French.
Do you know if it is possible to put it in US mode, or is it stuck at 25kph?
Hi John, are you in Roermond, Holland this month ? We riding the oliebollentocht OBT 2018 one day after Christmas
Unfortunately for me it clashes with the Christmas holidays and I can't get away for so long.
Really cool video thanks. Did you get to keep the bike for free... 🤔 I'm going to buy the Tern Gsd s10 next year, huge amount of dosh, but definitely worth it.
There is something attached to the back of the front fork, just under the frame. i am thinking it is something to keep the front wheel from being floppy when parked. I thought that was interesting. A lot of bikes could use something like that.
Good job John.
I really like the intro music. Can anyone tell what the song and artist is?
@Ronald McDonaldtrump You keep saying that but it's not French.
Great review! I want one! Would be great for my needs in Portland, OR. It’s not clear but, can you switch out the handlebars easily? Looks like there need to be enough width on the stem area to accommodate the double clamps.
Yes it would be tricky but I'm sure possible.
Had one for a month, Really liked the idea of it, but my god the ride is harsh, something i just coudnt get over, especially living in an area with 98% cobbled streets, and the cockpit felt pretty cramped, and im 5.11
Yes there expensive, but after youve bought it what extra running costs are you looking at, compared to a car? I guess some people are still stuck with a post war dullards attitude that riding a bicyle must equal poverty.
does it have any way to lean the kid seat backwards for them to sleep? by the way your kid didnt seem to have a good time, it was too close to you and could not see forward, also the seat belt seems too tight, but anyways nothing to shame the bicycle itself
Thank you so much! I am just wondering can this fit into the trunk of a private car? Thank you for the video!!!
That's a very good question, I'm not sure on the size of the fold but I am pretty sure it would definitely fit in a large boot.
Love it!
I want one 😊
please continue
Com essa música eu vou seguir vc mais tempo,aí vc venceu
Can we go on long ride with this bicycle?
nice a video in the morning.
and i am awake xD
Only because I was too drunk to post it last night :)
Hiya Mate,
Lovely video John well done Mate :-)
I would absolutely love to own it but the price is... WOW
I got side bags not knowing to assemble it
the bike must weigh a ton!
MUSIC c'est qui ?????????
👍👍👍👍👍
sir how do u charge it can u please explain?
Remove battery, plug charger into battery
£4000, plus extra for the accessories. Another £400?. What do you get 500 battery charges. Use this daily and I’d imagine performance would start flagging after 18 months.
Problem solve the staring at dad's backside ???
What's the name of the song at 0:16?
It's a remake of David Bowie's Rebel Rebel.
@@ninetyminutestd : ruclips.net/video/GzkXuHu-xYc/видео.html 👍
@@lucarnetrange it is a different version Seu Jorge version is also fantastic, but in this video it is not Seu Jorge... wonder who it is :)
You're worried about wind on your kids feet even though your bums in his face?
It looks like a great bike but you could buy a decent second hand car for that price.
Yes, that's quite right. The problem with that solution is that you then have to park or store the car, buy fuel for it, pay the vehicle excise duty and of course insure the thing. I reckon for people who can make the leap to a different solution a bike like this will rapidly pay for itself and also deliver health benefits.
Indeed, and as a matter of facts people won’t buy more this kind of bike if it was cheaper indeed for most people, an expensive bike is a visible sign of wealth that people are expecting to curb the perception of poverty traditionally associated with bicycle mobility.
Yeah but which is the most fun. Plus little running costs.
Ditt barn "vill gå in" 😂
Very nice but I don't know what is the price for it
It's a shame they haven't invented a magic portal where you could enter a request for information and the information would be shown on some sort of magic screen....
With the child seat that close to the rider, if you were to blow one.....💨 your poor kid would have to smell it......🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮😷😷😷
That fellow needs to be a bit more honest in his opinions. Maybe a skull sticker would help
Please John and everyone: children on bikes should always have helmets on. Here in Sweden the law says that everyone under 15 year of age must use a helmet when on a bike. If your children isn't using a helmet you will be fined.
Cheers
Teee heee...
Next step is Velomobile Mania :)
Would've been nice to actually hear the interviewees responses, rather than you talking over them.
"is it fun?"
kid looks dead inside 0:16
It was absolutely freezing that might not of helped. I think the cold preserved him.

4,000 pounds is a stupid price for a bike even if its e bike.
@Ronald McDonaldtrump still massively expensive..
... said no cyclist ever.
If you live somewhere where this can replace a car then it's actually pretty good.
E-bike are expensive though.
