1. The love of God
- Its Preexisting Reality - It is the first cause in order to declare His glory
- Its Determinating Factor (Eph 1:5) - not our goodness but God's goodness. The one thing that separates people for salvation is His love.
- Its Effectual Outworking - God's love is not only electing but also effectual. It overcomes our rebellious hearts. (Prevenient grace - making salvation possible for all)
- Its Unconditional Nature - (Romans 5:8) - It comes to us while we were yet sinners. (1 Thessalonians chapter 1:4-5)
- Its Persevering Power - it's not only initiating but also a continuing love (Phil 2:12-13)
2. The love of man
- We love God - Psalm 116:1
- We love Christ - 1 Corinthians 16:22
- We love the word of God - Psalm 119:127
- We love the Sabbath - Isaiah 58:13-14
Your love to God is the evidence that He loved you before the foundation of the world.
If the love of God is really wanting in your heart, come to Jesus Christ.
