Thank you for this video! We dug at Royston a few years back and are finally getting around to processing our lovely little nuggets. So worried we were going to destroy the material trimming it. This is exactly the info we needed. Off to epoxy some stones!🤠

Great work. Thank you. You're so right about backing I was cutting a lovely cab the other day of turquoise. It broke in half as I was trimming it on the trim saw. ALWAYS BACK ALL TURQUOISE. Also. Quik JB Weld is NOT waterproof. Regular JB Weld is. Thanks for the frank video clarity. Another trick is to spoon mixed JB Weld into a small zipper bag, make a micro cut in one of the corners, and twist the bag. You can then put the JB Weld exactly where you want it, like on the back and sides of small cabs. It sure makes want to visit Royston. Thank you again.

Nice video. I am learning so much about Turquoise from mining to a finished piece. Very helpful information.

How thick is your cut turquoise? How does one know when to put a backing? Do u always put a backing on your Royston stones?

You would want to use jb weld to level out, or make a very thin cabachon thicker. If your finished cabachon is too thin, or uneven it will not sit properly in your bezel setting. You might also need to stablize your material if it's lower than a 6 on the MOHS scale. If you don't stablize your stone will just disintegrate when you touch it with your wheel or saw blade. I hope this helps you out 😊

Nice grade, a light blue, almost “trickled” through.
My fave is the blue to green polychrome

Why do you back them? Does Royston tend to break?

Nice job on that oval. You should start doing turquoise and cabbing videos again.

Great video but when you cut to the music it near bust !my ear drums. Your voice was so low volume to the music. Which I also have to say was very annoying when your trying to taking everything your doing. It was like a fly buzzing a round my ear & I couldn't manage to take in what you was doing so watched it again knowing at what point you started to talk again to turn my volume up again.
