this build order is pretty good but i saw beasty make a mistake at 0:00. playing byzantines its crusial to pick the right color which is purple of course, any other color puts you at a disadvantage making this build order only have a win rate of 95%. now it is possible beasty picked teal to throw of the opponent by picking a non meta color, but its equally probable beasty is nerfing himself to make the game a little more fair.
Picking purple color means you're telegraphing that you're playing Byzantine. You'd ask "And what? I have 100% winrate". The problem is opponent will deprive you from the pleasure of absolutely crashing them, unpluging ASAP as they see your imperial purpleness in lobby.
Its also very important to practice all colors vs bots in case your opponent on ladder predicts youre going for purple byzantine build and counterpicks with purple with a civ not as relient on color such as abbasid because theres no black color. To minimize this risk you should also hide your match history and prevent completing byzantine masteries at all cost.
Not picking purple is a perma
@@michaelnel5272 Playing with COC as JD is a perma. No pun intended.
🤣🤣
Beasty putting in that extra effort to get Byz nerfed. 😂
Glad you uploaded this, been maining the Byzies and the one time I drop by your stream, you are showing a pretty neat build order for them instead of the temperamental hippodrome build or 2 cistern builds I have been, glad I don't have to keep swapping to Twitch to view it
Just have to say I am so happy to have found your channel beasty. You're witty and chill and a fantastic teacher. Not to mention so insanely talented and very generous to share your tips & tricks & passion for the game and new builds. You're so good too it seriously feels like getting daily coaching from Michael Jordan of AOE
Finally! Ive been asking for ages for Byz guide
I've been looking forward to this!
Thanks for the video, really good I wish you could make one for each civ : D
Great guide! If you could also talk a little bit about team games in terms of which units and production buildings to go towards to support teammates and counter the opposition. I get a feeling it is probably javelin throwers instead of longbows but just curious what your thoughts are
Very nice guide - thank you
Nice! I was looking for a 100% win rate build order for such a long time, I don't understand why it took so long for someone to make one.
hahaha
If you think about it byzantine farms under grand winery gather rates are so much better than anything else in the game. Not only do you get extra 60% gather rate in olive oil, you also get extra 60 % on the cistern bonus and gather upgrades. Also olive oil can pay for gold units so its also kinda like enclosures. In total resources, its about double standard vill.
Its not almost double a standard vill. Standard vills get 45% from horticulture. The farm upgrades translate into less than the actual gather rate, and there's diminishing returns the more gather rate you get because walk time becomes a bigger factor, but I'm gonna ignore that for the sake of argument.
A villager under grand winery will get 71% gather rate, and it returns an extra 32% resources in olive oil. Grand winery does not make you return 60% of resources as oil, it makes you return 60% more, and farms return 20% base, so it increases to 32%.
So they get 1.71/1.45*1.32 more resources. That's about 55%, and in practice probably slightly less due to walk time.
That's good, but its not double.
Been a while since I played Byz so cmiiw but the GW gives you extra oil not increasing the Gathering Rate.
Essentially the typical 1500 foods Berry Bushes will net 1200 Oils (from 750 oil) and the Olive Groves will net 3 oil/10 foods (instead of 2 oil per 10 foods)
@@RandomPerson-cc9mn Is horticulture additive or multiplicative with cistern gather rate? I always assumed it was multiplicative (1.45*1.26=1.82)
It would then mean 66% instead of 55%.
(after some researches, it looks like HRE and Abbassid stacks additively, while english seems to stack multiplicatively... not sure if it still works this way, and not sure how it works for Byz...)
@@Nanarachouilla I'm not 100% sure its additive, but I'm pretty sure it is. I think almost all eco bonuses are additive with English being the only exception I can think of (I think, I've also heard that's multiplicative but I've never investigated any of those myself).
I think the only reason English is multiplicative is that its a bonus to the farm, not a bonus to villagers.
@@RandomPerson-cc9mn Ah I see! Yeah it would definitely make sense
Thanks for your insights
Love it beasty! Tried this out today, real strong
hey beasty where do you place the winery, if the berries are in front of your base?
Could you also speak to playing civs on FFA and multiplayer when making these guides? Thanks for the great content brotha
I’m new to AoE4 and having some good success reading your guides, I keep getting into trouble with HRE MAA rush. Any tips?
Any new japanese orders / tricks ? I feel like its not really doing good in 1v1's ( or maybe its me, but i tried 2 tc castle rush, simple castle rush with 1 tc, staying in feudal but nothing really works out strong )
Age I - Dark Age
- 5 villagers on sheep
- 1 on nearby tree for 10 wood to 100
- 1 villager on first cistern (spawn dependent)
- Gold + sheep
- Berries + wood
- Farm by TC + Mining camp on Gold + House next to camp
- Upgrade house eventually for massive vision gain around base
- Keep house in TC if enemy will dark age rush
- Put just outside TC if enemy does not dark age rush
- 3 villagers on gold
- 4 villagers on food
- Age II - Feudal Age - **Grand Winery**
- 4 villagers building, then onto berries
- Move 3 from sheep to berries
- Set TC rally onto wood until 10 villagers
- First economy upgrades
- Switch to Dialecticus on cisterns for faster research
- Wheelbarrow on Winery
- Double broad-axe on Lumber
- Second cistern
- Put in influence of more resources
- Stable + Mercenary House + Blacksmith
- Walls + Farms with wood
- Merc Contracts
- Longbow then Landsknecht
- Javelins instead against English
- Switch TC rally to food/farms
- Tip: Do not put blacksmith near military production buildings
- Put blacksmith on a cistern with Dialecticus for research speed
- Order of Economic Upgrades
- Wheel Barrow
- Double Broad-axe
- Horticulture
- +1 Range dmg/armor on house
- +1 +1 on TC
- Last: Specialized pick
- Military tip:
- Calvary better for harassment
- Longbowmen outclass archers
- Javelin outclass longbow/archers
- Limitanei counter knights
- Horsemen counter archers
- Third cistern
- Put in influence of more resources
- After 20 villagers on food, rally TC on Gold
- 11 minutes in:
- not mining stone, houses + farms give stone
- 90 pop cap - 40 villagers - 20 military
- Age III - Castle Age - **Golden Horn Tower**
- Triple barracks
- Avoid Cataphract (unless high on resources)
- >10 horsemen, get veteran horseman upgrade
- If opponent has men at arms, make a couple archery ranges
- Longbow + crossbows
- Varangian Guard can tank men at arms better
- Upgrades:
- Teardrop shields
- +1 range dmg
- +1 range armor
- Economy upgrades
- Veteran Contract
and if y play against civs tha can early attack mma ? or japan with early rush with ona bugeisa or samurais ?
First game worked liked a charm.
Absolute masterclass. AOE4 is another level above chess.
Just won my first ranked match trying this build 100% so far lol
Wouldn’t cataphract and camel raider do good against a knight civ?
After finishing the video , i realised that 11k people are going to try this build on the ladder😂
Everybody desperately needs the wheelchair to get the win.
how does if we use this build against J'D or French or Mongol? do we produce limitinae instead?
@5:10 i mean ... for us not Conq III players its the BIGGEST Deal ever! At least i have a nice base, even i suck :(!
TY teacher :D
What would you do against 2 russian/ english tc ?
Why is double broad axe prioritized over horticulture? You will get a faster ROI on horticulture because you almost always have more vills on food?
Because you are upgrading wheelbarrow and cant get both at the same time.
@@BeastyqtSC2 Roger that. Thank you!
I think this build order would be easier to learn from if you did the first 4 minutes straight just explaining the order, and then go back through and do the pauses to explain cisterns placement, etc.
Byzantine mains, our time has come
Always has been
Byzantines broken af right now.. give me a OOTD TIME
@@unclientrandom5371 your time is now for FFA
@@Daniel_deez_nutz meh FFA isnt that fun of a mode in my opinion.
ive found it really difficult to defend against hre or english going MAA in feudal. With the horsemen + longbow contract, I find it v.difficult to defend until I can make xbows/ VGs in castle.
Archer dont do lots of dmg against maa but can kite them infinitly. If you mass enough archers and dont die to stupid death maa wont ever reach ur archers
ok now how do you counter this build my friend started to use it and i cant beat him anymore in 1v1 helppp
do you always go stables on this build
Yeah, very good tutorial. But what shoul I do when Barrys is in the front of the base? Its already 3 games, and every time barrys in the front 😂
I’m a newb. The cistern shows the square area and plus signs around buildings. How is that different than the circle area it shows?
the circle area shows the area which the villager production rate is improved. The square shows the area in which buildings gain the benefits of conscriptio, dialecticus, and whatever the armor one is called
genuine question, can this not be countered by burgrave?
or is there a way to stop that as well?
I think youd jusr deny gold like he does with the ayubid
Are longbows really that much better than javalins and camels?
Can you show me a way to make it to conquerer with 0 APM and doing absolutely nothing 🤔
Pick byzantines
Won my first game, true title, very good.
Update, went 8-1 first time trying byz, civ is incredibly strong. Didn't even execute properly.
what would cataphracts need to be viable? ...
Good break from FFA videos.
Ten on wood is the sweet spot for going into farms.
Reported for misinformation!
?
@@V-a-s-h Probably a byz player that doesnt want people to know that the civ is strong!
@@ShineOnYour no it's cuz they lost using the build order
now that everyone is using this build maybe its good time u can show us how to counter?
been tryin smth similar a while now on ffa... 2 tc into many farms .. feels okish but i giess this works best on 1v1s
Probably a bit too slow in terms of army size and defense for ffa
I don't get it why this build is so viable and *better* than "playing normal" with going out for food on the map and/or 2 TC. Is it all about the olive oil gather rate that makes it so broken that you can chill in your base on 1 TC and out-macro your opponents???
I don't think it's necessarily better than 2 TC and going out on the map. It's mostly that playing in your base is safer than needing to go outside to find deer and what not. Additionally farms only cost 60 wood and they give you olive oil! Yeah it's very strong. English is a Strong counter
Kinda proud this was my exact build. Kinda bummed he blew up my spot
Word
beasty, we would really like to see team build order, because 1v1 build order in 4v4 or 3v3 is just garbage, with my respect, because most of the 1v1 builds depends either on map, or rss around you or whatever...
i dont understand why you'd upgrade double broad axe before horticulture when you have more vills on food. arent you losing value?
Because you are upgrading wheelbarrow and cant get both at the same time.

@beastyqtsc2
Cataphracts plus Triumph and Trample are fun, though
so true. Triumph is so badass. I have been gathering 250 gold before moving away from gold in order to be able to afford expilatores immediately upon feudal. It was pointed out to me that with expilatores (+2 to horseman damage vs. villagers) buff and triumph activated, it takes only four hits of a horseman to kill a villager.. So, two horsemen will kill a single villager with only two attacks. If the opponent doesn't react immediately, they will lose two if not three (if they're running back to their TC).
@@rockgobbler that is correct! You will have fewer mercenary troops, but if you're willing to micro the horses, you can do more damage. It is risky, though.
@@eljouser yeah, it's definitely a gamble. It feels awesome when you get a couple villager kills, though; expilatores basically paid for itself at that point
Its a destruction
My latest vids shows how this build can crush even as a plat scrub. Cheers Beasty!
Love 野兽
if this is truly 100% win rate then who wins in a mirror match up with the same build order?
Unstoppable force meets immovable object
This is really broken. Now when Byzantine unlock level 2 cistern, it will have a eco as good as Abbasid, on top of which it has mercenary hired with oil, and it can grow further. In another word, Byzantine has one of the best basic income plus oil, this eco is just insane. What was once painful for Byzantine is the first mercenary squad arriving too late to be helpful before Byzantine player dies to early aggression, but this is no longer a problem since the last patch buffs them arrival timing, then we start to witness how op Byzantine's eco is. I'm expecting Byzantine nerfed, pretty much roll back the cistern to the 5% initial status and it will be more fair.
I’m 3-0 with this build so far!
I m go to Byzantine main
Great video. Trying to get back into AoE 4 and everyone is talking about how strong English is. But based on this video and that 3rd match, it seems like such a basic strat. Rush as fast as possible with longbows and take out the opponent before the game even begins. Just seems hilarious that's their only use and if it doesnt work immediately tap out. Doesnt seem that different from when the game first launched.
well now as english you have the option of going King which is like a knight that heals, or longbows super fast. Even if it doesnt work you force him to idle his villagers which means you did a lot of economic damage. Also for most people english is quick to learn ( easy straightforward build).
i figured out your plan!! we will all take this BO to the world and byz will have to be nerfed!!
once again puppet mastering civs in and out of meta!
jk ofc bruhder love your content ty for these informative vids!
Gonna be byzantine main now
Ok, won three in a row after practicing this build only once *while extremely drunk*... build is strong!
bro wtf happened with china now i miss 3 wood every time
This has been like my exact build which makes me sad cuz now everybody gonna use it :(
And people will still say Rus is the most OP civ >.>
Please make Jeanne D'Arc guide!!
Chinese build order please!
no brain, chinese main
When 100% winrate build whit france 😢
I would like to see this BO as well :(!
as a French Main I approve. I agree
👀👀
Noooooo!
I really think beasty's purpose with this video is to have Byzantines nerfed 😂
Beasty triggers the reddit aoe community 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Build is strong, but that alias is not fooling anyone who read Chinese or Japanese :)
just got aoe3 on game pass and its freaking awesome .. same as aoe4 but a lot more unique units , goofy fun units and its small maps with quick skirmishes.. if they could just take the units, hunts heroes and cheat units from aoe3 and add them to aoe4 would be unreal ..
I used to play a lot of AOE3. It's a great game, but I quit playing it cause I don't have time for multiple games, and I like AOE4 more. What I think AOE3 is better at though is all the cards create tons of different types of strategies and ways to surprise your opponent. Water play is better on AOE3 too. But I feel like AOE4 has better balance, better units, better base building, and I like stealth forests and being able to put units on walls even though no one ever does.
@@williamwolfe9335 i like aoe4 better too .. im an old school EE/AOC guy and its as close as it gets .. love the gunfire though lol .. they need to bring in that final gunpowder epoch and all the cool units and hunts to aoe4 even on a dlc .. i would pay 20 usd for them lol .. the water on aoe3 is gorgeous
@@iLightSoundGeometry I agree about the water.
Byzantine are just English with extra steps. lol
beasty senpai, Oliver oil +114
This is why Aoe4 is trash because of people like beasty showint broken guides and people that are sheep 🐑 that follows everything this dude does or says is sad
Build orders are great starting points for players new and old. Makes matches better and quicker.
But having a build order for the first 5 mins of the game does not turn you into some GAMING GOD you ignoramus.
You still have to practice, develop mechanics, learn the game, implement strategies effectively and so on.
Now hurry up and get upstairs, your mom is calling you for dinner boy
Sir this is a Wendy’s
Do your own build then. Mass wood in dark age and then go to boar with 5 towers before age 2. See how far you get. This shit is only for the beginning to give a jumping off point. Be quiet and look inwards for your horrible attitude and negativity comes from something else. Not a beasty guide.
