We're starting the new year off right with a beat tape from Manchester-based producer (by way of Brighton) El Train. The producer and musician enlists various talents for the ten song project, including Chillhop familiars Misha and Jussi Halme on opening track (along with goodie bags who makes multiple appearances). From track one until the very end, the project properly blends synthy beat-driven grooves with downtempo electronic moods, making for a smooth listening experience from start to finish. Dance floor tendencies with retrofuturistic vibes. Like a house party. Like a boombox. Like a ride.

I feel that way about the first song. When that one note kinda eases flat, reminds me of an overplayed cassette trying to determine if it's melted enough to snap or if it's gonna hang on.
