I really have to thank you guys and gals who had the preserve of mind to be able too keep these shows I just missed this wonderful era in time but I have found them after I brought my Xm sirus radio for my truck so know all over the lower 48 states I have them and now I found all my favorites on you tube it feels like sitting in a warm living room with the fireplace crackling and getting the chills and my shows thank you again for posting all of these
Karloff was one of a kind. If you like eerie stories, let me recommend "The Gables" on YT. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/Ot1sF7fkhMw/видео.html/. And see the other two on "Claude Chabot's Theatre of the Fantastic. One other is coming , too, presently in post-production!
The Lipton tea lady seems awfully worried that listeners might associate their tea with the scary show it sponsors. Makes you ask why they chose to sponsor it?
...a cadaverous old man with sunken, dark eyes watches himself with horror as he shuffles uncontrollably through a stinking crypt towards his own dark tomb - AND NOW THIS FROM LIPTON CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP! 😄 😄 "Like"
I love this! And I swear the creepy host (and supporting actor in this drama) is none other than Otto Kruger, famous stage and film actor (1885-1974). Wikipedia does say that it was Paul McGrath playing the host, but, could they have had the exact same voice?
Does any one even still do radio dramas? I thought it was an extinct artform? EDIT: BTW, when i was in sixth grade in the '80s, our class did some radio dramas. Probably the fondest memories i have of school! :)

Fortunately where I live, many better alternatives exist. The only time I tried Liptons was on foreign holidays because NOTHING else was available. Not only did it taste awful, the sterilised milk that always accompanied it only made it worse.

At the time, the series was heard on CBS' Tuesday night schedule at 9pm(et) [directly opposite NBC's "AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW"]. Paul McGrath is "Your Host" {aka "Mr. Host"}.
I'm 74 brings back memories listen with my mom in 1949
So glad you have those memories to cherish. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share.
God bless your mother's soul sir!

Can't go wrong with Karloff
Can listen to and watch him in anything. Often the best thing in it.
Always liked the contrast of the host and the Lipton Tea lady.

Great Show To Have!

Spooky and exciting. 😎
Fabulous thank you!
Thank you! Will be posting a new show tonight!
There is a real shame that today's CBS radio dramas don't have the same quality .
Virgil Jacas No good character actors let alone great actors anymore!
Does any one even still do radio dramas? I thought it was an extinct artform?

I can see your reflection in the dial glass of the radio on the screen, lol. Great show, btw.

Richard Widmark plays the son. He was just another radio actor at the time.
Ah! The Classics. 🎃🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🍁🍂☕
Hahaha Lipton is gross but I love these ole movies for the mind !
Fortunately where I live, many better alternatives exist. The only time I tried Liptons was on foreign holidays because NOTHING else was available. Not only did it taste awful, the sterilised milk that always accompanied it only made it worse.
BBC Radio Dramas rules.I do recommend SCI Stone, characterize by Hugo Speer and a group of super professional actors.
Thanks! Will check it out!

Scarey - to think that this might happen -

oh yes when there is nothing on tv
Of course. No better way.
That was a good story! Surprise ending.
Always get one here or there that throws you off and ends with a twist.
Spooky
Why do I always see Betty White in my head when the Lipton Lady talks?
I can see it also. So, no surprising. Ha!
I have the tape of this one.
Mary is like one of the stepford wives.
