    Great learning more about the $2 coins I've been hanging onto lot of them since pretty colours or different thing's on the regular to me before seeing some of your videos recently 🙂. Good knowing 3 Wiggles ones as wondered😮 if more. I had no idea about anything being harder to find, so naively just used them almost all unless pretty new looking. I've now deliberately been paying for things so I'll get gold coin or two in change!🙂 Do you find buying rolls worth the effort & go to different banks? Hope ok to ask! One other serious question I think... Should coins that are grotty be washed or left as they are for valuation? I'm tempted to wash with dishwashing liquid and old toothbrush sometimes if I want to keep. Also is there a inexpensive good way to keep brand new almost uncirculated in appearance ones? Like in tissue, then container to be unhandled? I got few 2023 $1 coins in change by helpful cashier of different Aussie states animals.... probably mass produced, but I like them. Big Swoop (Magpie picture but unnamed😮), Giant Murray Cod, Giant Koala, The Big Tasmanian Devil & The Big Banana so far? Thanks for great share 👍🙂

      Firstly, thank you for giving the video a view and leaving a comment! I’m glad that I could help give you some new information!
      If you have the money just sitting in the bank and are really interested in get noodling through coins, getting rolls (or bags) is definitely worth it. Though it’s not always easy to do. I’m with Commbank and they’ve recently stopped the general public from withdrawing large amounts of coins (which is why I haven’t been able to make any videos on Australian coins lately) unless you have a business account, but as far as I know, most other banks will let you use their coin roll machine if you have an account with them.
      As for cleaning your coins, generally, everyone agrees that you shouldn’t clean your coins. Especially if there’s any value above face value. But they’re your coins and you can do what you want. If your wondering what method to use, I’d suggest using some practice coins before cleaning the main ones you want, so then you can see for yourself if the results are worth it and which way to clean is best.
      As for keeping coins in good condition, for short term, a tissue is fine. But the best way is in a coin holder/protecter (sometimes called a 2x2 holder) they’re generally cheap and effective. Most people avoid the self adhesive ones because the glue can potentially damage the coin over time. You can also buy plastic coin folder sheets, but that can be difficult to find the right kind of plastic (because any plastic made with acid, will damage the coins after a couple of years) and then there are also individual plastic coin holders which are usually safe and made in various sizes for different coins.
      I hope that’s been helpful and thanks again for the comment!
      (And sorry for any typos, but my message is way too long for me to bother proof reading 😂)

      @@zachsworldcoinchallenge Thanks heaps for your reply I appreciate all the information & typing via small dinosaur mobile phone screen so make typos & send by accident often. Tried the recording message that converted to text & sent without reading. Read few days later & was mumbo jumbo new language 😀 luckily my friend knew what I was meaning & had a laugh too! So don't worry about checking typos if reply to me, plus you have lots of replies to read. I use same bank & was just going to go inside to teller & ask to get coin rolls. When I get there & it's open will let you know yes or no over counter as no savings only regular a/c. Discrimination 🙂

    The 2 Dollar coin with hh down beside the indigenous face is it worth anything and also l have a1823 British coin George 3th is it worth anything

    • @zachsworldcoinchallenge
      @zachsworldcoinchallenge  Год назад +1

      So, the HH $2 coin is only worth $2, they’re extremely common (1-7 of ALL $2 coins ever made since 1988 has the HH initials)
      As for the 1823 coin, it’s hard to say if it’s worth anything. The value depends on things like how rare it is (how many were made) the condition of the coin and so on. To check if it’s worth anything, go on eBay, search the denomination, country and year (eg. UK halfpenny 1823) and then filter by sold prices and the display should show the price of the coins as green and that shows what the coin sold for and that will give a general idea of the coins value.

    I have a$2 coin with the HH 88-89 that has a defect where the date is meant to be. So I have an Un-dated coin. Interested ??

    • @zachsworldcoinchallenge
      @zachsworldcoinchallenge  Год назад

      Any kind of defect on a coin (if it was made at the time of minting and not after) is always interesting. Though the coin itself, just because of the HH is very very common.

      Yeah, they’ve even (at least in my area) completely put a stop to the general public using their coin roll machine (a business account is only way) and that’s why I haven’t been able to make more videos with Australian coins. But hopefully next year, I’m going to get back to Australian coins
