So... as a proud owner, I can't help to mention the BRC 500. It's a power-valved, electric start (in some configurations), counter-balanced 500 2t that is made to drop right into a modern KTM or YZ frame. No frame cutting/welding required. I went from racing a YZ450f and getting 6-8th place to the BRC and now consistently being in the top 3. The counter-balancing makes such a huge difference! Very little arm-pump/numb hands.
It always took me a bit to get used to a different brand/model bike than what I rode. I knew people that could hop on anything and mob it comfortable. Like you Albert. I really like what you've done with your life regarding moto. Good job yo
Yooo whats up Aj, a big fan man really love the content. I can't wait to see more of your training videos and really looking forward to seeing you in Supercross. I'll be rooting for you
i could see a 500 set up right getting traction like a 450, all the low end grunt they can produce at low rpm. interested in seeing how the big bore 250s do with like the 325cc kit.
The side by side comparison is very cool 😎. Wish the Magura clutch cable did not disconnect (easy fix) because I would have liked to see the times. Both incredible bikes and great feedback post ride.
Had an '06 CR500AF. One other unusual behavior of the bike was when I kept the R's low, the lack of rotational inertia of the crank basically disappeared. Since the bike was so light, it felt like throwing around a 250. Let the R's come up, and it makes the bike much more stable. Way cool bike. The only thing I didn't like about it was how it could jump up and bite me, without me feeling it happen. When it hit the fat part of its mid-range, the speed would come on hard, almost like the difference between a 125 smoker off its powerband then on. But, I'd never notice it happening.
I wonder if the second ride you do always is a little worse than it could be due to, tired, arm pump, arm pump sooner/easier and those kinds of things.
This was the first track I've been to like 2 or 3 months ago but I'm still a beginner and had to stay on the Vet Track but man you make that Big Track look fun! I can't wait till I'm ready for that! Thanks for the awesome video and visiting my home town
I mean we really really have to put the comparison into perspective, both the Cr 500 and KX500 were virtually unchanged from the mid 80s on. The Cr 500 engine is 38 years old now. I really ask everybody to go on Google and look at other vehicles from the 80s and compare them to their modern counterparts... The potential left in a let's say 450 two-stroke, if you one of the big brands actually committed, is insane. Injection, proper electric engine management, maybe some tricks with the variable inlet... an 86 CR500 with an FMF pipe already makes more power and thus also more torque than a modern 450 everywhere... So they could even reduce power to increase rideability
Thing with these big 2 strokes is that 500s stock make around same hp as modern 450s but they make like 2x torque and lot more at lower rpms too but 500s have lot of potential and one guy had old 500 with 72whp and thats more than in any New 450 I know most hp I know is 68 whp from 450
@@xfdfff2620 My godfather is a two time German 500cc champ and was a KTM works rider from 84 to 86, at KTM they had 90hp in development, but already back then 250s were faster because they were easier to ride

Great content man. Bike comparisons like this are fascinating. Would actually like to see what a top rider like you could do on a YZ450fx versus a YZ450f on a motocross track. Enduro/moto comparisons.

Sweet vid to bad the track was so dry and slick.. be cool to see that 500 on a track with some nice tacky dirt or a sand track really let the thing eat
I can't figure out why these modern manufactures can't see the market developing for a modern 500 2 stroke. For $250k-500k in tooling costs you could sell 2000 units a year. You'd have to tool up for a head and cylinder that would adapt to current bottom end and frame. It's a no brainer, at 10% return you'd net 2 million in profit.
Aj you are able to produce fast lap times on the 450 because that is what you are used to. But, those lap times are as fast as you will produce on that 450. The more you ride and get used to the power and speeds of the 500's. You will only get faster on the 500's. I would love to let you test my Service Honda CR500AF.
