I assume you were playing on Hard Difficulty? Because Baron got pretty badly beaten up. But with all seriousness, I wasn't expecting that Mechcommander Gold's Expansion Campaign had so many Mad Cats. In the Original Campaign, you only get to salvage like... 4 Mad Cats?
It was Normal difficulty. Baron got beat up because he sucks (low piloting skill) and this is second last mission. I used only the starting pilots on this run, and most people would replace half of them long before this. If this was Hard difficulty, all these pilots would probably be dead. And correct, you get 4 Mad Cats in the original campaign. You get as many as 10 in the expansion.
