    Incredible authenticity. This honesty is so healthy, dispelling illusion,
    pushing away delusion. This needs many more views.
    This is such a good talk.
    Thank you.

    "Dead for ever"is easier to comprehend and not confuse it with the dead mobile phone.

    This is not about euphemism, it is about the sulkiness of forced to conform to the positivity-think and glue on that big happy face smile. What a rotten crummy break that a kid has to die from something like that. A soul born into this world in a body that gives him just a brief and dim taste of real life. I am so sorry to hear about him and his death.

    Its like Voldemort in harry potter. people are so afraid to speak his name and that adds power to his cause with fear and he didn't even have to do anything. only until harry starts to say it around everyone do people start to have hope start to fight back.

      +SolexWindGuardian True. If you name something, it also means that you have power over that "person" or thing that you name.

    in thai we say the battery is out not dead but since my brother and i grew up in the US we used terms like my phone died when my brother said it once to my grandpa in thai he said “oh we must have a funeral for it.” it made me laugh and realize i had never thought about it like that before. now that my grandpa is really dead (cancer as well) i cherish those moments and this made me think of that, its a shame most of us have to have first hand experience before we rethink the ways we think and talk about death. thank you for the video, rip sammy.

    we fear death so much that we're willing to believe, without proof, in a higher power that watches over us, sees our every moves and will reward or punish us in an imaginary world after death

    An interesting talk, but some of her ideas are linguistically and historically inaccurate, i.e. we use euphemisms because of past superstitions. Euphemisms exist to shield us from taboo words or topics.

    Interesting thing to say for a rabbi, I thought religion was the ultimate source of euphemism. "He's not dead, he is enjoying his afterlife" or something.

    I stutter, it’s natural when you are trying to decide whether to chose the word ‘murdered’ or ‘killed’ or only dead. No one can help- it’s only natural.

    Exactly sister! you rightly said, we agree with you. despite that, it seems to me that In the future English language will become the most hard language to learn in the world and china's language would become more easy to learn than English language.....thanks a lot sister.

      🌿I wonder if...in 20 years...someone who went by the RUclips name of "razorvol" creates something that saves the world...from pain...hunger...from some type of devastation... Most situations we find ourselves in are usually temporary... "Dead" is pretty permanent... Please do talk to someone...you'll find that even complete strangers care...✨🌿

      Thank you for your concerns please understand that I am 43 years old I have no job or any prospects. I am divorced for 7 years and not future relationships other than being used the only time people want to be around me is to use me I'm a washed up has been that existence was and is a mistake

    • @seanagarrow7488
      @seanagarrow7488 9 лет назад +1

      Boy did you luck out in having ME be the person you responded to🙊...
      Didn't you know that 43 is the new 21? (I'll be planning my 50th next year...& yes...I look pretty awesome for my age😜but we'll get to my "physical" status later)...
      No job prospects? Then you have the freedom to choose ANY direction...make a list of what you want to do, break it down into steps, & start knocking them out...(I know...easier said then done...listen to some Tony Robbins videos here on RUclips...they'll get you going & give you some ideas)...
      Relationship issues? My last one involved the authorities...(the guy turned "stalker" on me!)...
      I do have one "issue" that has put a damper on my perfect life (yes...I wouldn't want it any other way) & that is a spinal cord problem that's taking out the nerves from the waist down these past few years (lost the right leg & 40% of the left so far)...but that's just life...
      I could've gone to the couch & given up after I heard the news...but I chose to keep taking steps...as many as I can until I crash & burn...(it's a family trait...to live large..or go home & "stay on the porch"..)...
      So...come on...start dreaming...start living...pass the white flag to somebody else..(you spring chicken, you!)😊😊😊

      Thanks for your advice and experiences I do have cerebral palsy on my right side and I always seem to receive the ugly stares from others Where relationships go I end up getting used. Last weekend she was at a location with tornado warnings and I instructed her to take cover and over 24 hours I couldn't get a hold of her but I kept trying about every hour except that night when I went to bed. I kept blaming myself for constantly trying to contact her and being a bother I hope what I did is not like what happened to you I guess I'm crazy and in relationships it seems like all I'm good for is to be taken advantage of I'm sorry I'm a bother I only want to get out of the way

    always. great talk.

    • @Janinho897
      @Janinho897 5 лет назад +1

      You just used "the opposite of a Euphomism" by calling it a crime, meaning you're overcorrecting by way too much, going over to the other side of the unrealistic- phrasing-spectrum. So... Let's call a spade a spade. not a crime.

    I could say she was nicely dressed, or I could de-euphemize and say she was fat and ugly. Now we know why there are euphemisms. I would not want to say anything mean to this lady, I have nothing against her.

    • @jamesshepard3
      @jamesshepard3 8 лет назад

      +justgivemethetruth saying someone is nicely dressed isn't a euphemism for perceived attractiveness though.

      You are not smart enough to engage in this conversation. Think about it for a few years.

    • @jamesshepard3
      @jamesshepard3 8 лет назад +2

      +justgivemethetruth You're not articulate enough to express your thoughts. Edit your original comment for a few years.
      You didn't actually refute my point so much as you made an unwarranted, ad hominem attack. If you have actual retort, I'd love to discuss your perception of euphemism; however, I refuse to participate in a toxic dialogue with someone who can't handle being called out on their shit.
