If “Maneken Pis” is so famous it’s because there are many legends about him. One them goes back to WWII. It explains how German troops saw the kid and needed a piece of information. They asked him where did the Belgian soldiers left (or something to that affect). The kid didn’t understand the Germans as he didn’t speak the language. He then took a piss because he had to and the Germans thought he was indicating the direction that the Belgian soldiers took to leave. Luckily, he pied in the opposite way which gave time for the Belgian soldiers to run away... Tadaaaaa...

I have to stop just a few minutes into this (and lord I hope you see this message) I have to say I joined your journey late when the SkillieOlympics started, so now have to catch up, binge watch, get no sleep kinda nights so I can get my proper laugh on with the 2 of you. Amazing again. Found your channel last week and since then my wife and I have watched, European trip, Indian trip, the Custard van build, South Africa (BTW, I lived in SA for 10 years and really enjoyed the videos) Mongol rally (one of my dream trips) the last Iceland trip, then jumped to the beginning and watched the first two episodes and saw what Aimee had to go through, glad she's 10 years free. Then finally just finished watching the Algarve trip since I also lived in Portugal and in 2017 did a trip around Portugal ending in Algarve. You guys are amazing and I just loved Aimee's life attitude. BTW, I was following Eamon & Beck's page and quite a few others. Need more free time to finish your entire series ;-)

Hi , about your chips question.They were created in Belgium , by the river Meuse as they used to deep fry little fishes and as the river was frozen in winter , they had the idea of frying slices of potatoes as it was one of the main sources of food and here appeared the frites. Also the ones you have had were probably not "real ones " but frozen ones ! Never eat on the main squares in Belgium , the food is 2 or 3 times the price for half the quality and they do not have the ime to cut them and cook them properly , lots of Belgian food exeriences are ruined in those places. You need to go in a proper friterie, there is one behind one of the main churches in Bruges and it s delicious . Thanks for your videos , I ve just discovered it .I m Belgian but have been living in London for 10+ years and I miss Bruges sometimes . Enjoy your trips ! I'm from belgium, and i think that brussels is one of the ugliest places in Belgium. lol
So here are a lot of fun places in Belgium if you are roadtripping:
-Bruges is like a city of the middle ages, really beautiful!!
-Gent/Ghent is more like an openminded city where everything is nearby. If you like to go to a party, don't go in the weekend. Students live here during the weekdays and go home in the weekend. You can go to the 'overpoort', it's a street with a lot of cafés and pub's. But if you like more like 1 club: you should go to the charlatan! i love that place.
-Leuven: this is the ultimate studentplace. I don't come here very often but there is a lot to see there!
-Antwerpen is known as:
the meir: it is like a really big street of almost 1km i think full of (brand) stores.
If you like a lot more of tiny cute things to go shopping: than you should go to the 'de wilde zee'. It is really cute and if you walk near 'het zuid' than you can find more like chique places!
Ofcourse there are a lot of more places you should go to. but if you are a couple of days in Belgium, i recommend to place your van somewhere in a caravanpark(like Lokeren, some town nearby Ghent where you can easily hop on the train) (because wildcamping is forbidden) and take the train (if you're under 26 years old, there is a cheaper ticket called go pass 1 or go pass 10 for taking the train like 10 times.) The train is much cheaper to take than to park in those cities. thank me later and tot later!

hey guys another great video. We've enjoyed your trip & vlogs so much and actually a bit sad that we now have to wait for the next adventure. While we do 2 or 3 holidays, usually hiking & road tours a year, we are really getting so impatient now.... we're planning on doing some major travels in a couple of year and yes we plan on buying a van... I was down Barrybados the other day & as lovely as the beach was.... I still prefer to be in some of the places you visited. You rock. Thanks for sharing. And of course, rule your own world. 🤘🚐🏴 x
