Valdes first controlled with the chest, then hit the defender and then his hand = not a handball. Different from the penalty on New England, with defender's hand stretched and blocking a clear pass/shot. Two different scenarios that casual fans will always miss.

@@djoscartj You might wanna go read that rule again, because you're wrong. The rule states that "It is an offence if a player ... scores in the opponents' goal ... immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental."
I mean America still won 9-2 if you take that goal away so what is the problem🤷🏻♂️
@@tdbsoccer10 You forgot to include the "or" part of the rule, which states that the hand must be in an "unnatural position"... Valdes' hand is in a normal position, so, even if accidental contact after a rebound with the defender, it is not considered a handball. Accidental PLUS unnnatural hand position is sanctionable as a handball, both must be true.
@@djoscartj No I didn't forget that part of the rule because that's a completely separate part of the rule and is defining a different situation that would be an offense. It has no effect on what I'm citing. Literally just go read it. It's a separate bullet point. ANY contact with the hand or arm immediately prior to a goal is an offense. It used to be the case that both had to be true, but that rule changed this year or last.
