I believe that the "gunpowder unit" is used to know which units are affected by some arsenal upgrades. I dont remember any special bonus damage against these kind of units.
Pretty much that, also some card upgrades only affect them (most I can recall are dutch and portuguese). I also looked at the wiki and aparently it serves as a way to make it easier to diferenciate rifle infantry aka skirm type units form musketeers, aside from the heavy infantry and light infantry tag

Yeah, like, janissarys have almost +40% hitpoints than musketeers and yet they cost only 15% plus food. That's so fucking stupid. Janissaries should cost 100f at the very least.
Still no revisit of the Spanish Gold Card to make it viable again... That really breaks my heart, the Spanish really need that bit of eco push to make them viable for anything other than rushes. In lieu, the only change they got was a nerf to one of the only eco boosts they do have.
No German/russian inquisitor spam, No Magyar Hussar Spam with otto revolt, nerfs everywere! But those russia changes were interenting. Russia FF could do a 3 falc push, could do a block house spam, and those huntsman is a really nice eco boost. Malta hero doing commandaries is interesting... Have to make some test. Hakkapelit tag would benefit it those hussar cards, now rhey are not as buffuble as before. That is sad.
One thing I liked in the russian changes is that poruchiks are now viable option instead of rekruts, despite costing more gold they are less food intensive so it harms vil production much less, they are faster, have better siege, kill cav faster and have 10 more hp, I can honestly see now a strelet poruchik play in ages 2 or 3. Even poruchik raids in age 4 aswell to search for factories, houses or other infraestructure as they can function now as a cheaper and less pop intensive oprichnik (sorry for murdering this unit name) but without the vill raid bonus. The russian-american card does ship the blockhouses but does not upgrade them. Otto and USA were under nerfed in my opinion. They also finally corrected a civ LAUCH mistake for Pennsylvania Cav it was always intended to cost gold but never really changed it because other age ups where more common, but once this was found out people "abused" of it, finally that'll no longer be the case. Inca did not need any of those buffs and Lakota was just murdered in this patch.
That's the gripe that I (as a revolution player) have with you: you skip the spicy and juicy part of the patch notes and the most fun part of this game ;)
not a hater, but bro u read so many of these wrong, for example some buffs you read like nerfs, or vise versa, for example Swedes Dalkarl Pikeman you said buff, while its a nerf.
@@redeyewarrior just played a game and it changed nothing, i get what you mean but they are going the wrong about it the problem is the animation and rate of fire (both too fast) and they just nerfed base samurai which is pretty bad for almost anything else
@@caan_69420 the real problem in this game is the multiplayer feature allowing all sorts of different level players to compete with one another in lobbies. That makes team games extremely unbalanced.
@rohann1t546 abus became too expensive unit when it lost damage multiplier against arty. 110c and 50f? An uhlan is still better and preferable. Otto needs options for 1 pop units. And sentinels need to be 1 pop units too. When will sipahis be trainable?????

Azaps need to become competitive like desert archers. Eles they are of no good use for except range cav.
They already have abus guns, The best anti infantry in unit. But I do agree that azaps should need to do better damage vs heavy infantry.
