Was at the game today. Whatever Loppy did tactically second half was lunacy! We had a back five with Coufal at CB, the CDMs so deep they could have shared a pair of shorts with the CBs and basically sat back handing the game to Brighton. How we didn't concede 4 is beyond me!

It was a serviceable performance and point, that doesn't do very much for us long time, But it will give jlo another 2-3 weeks. And that basically demonstrates the core philosophy of the board in how the run the club and that is surviving of the week without making a decision. I generally believe the if you offered Sullivan the possibility of finishing 16th no higher or lower from now until eternity he would take it within a heartbeat and that is our biggest problem.

Geo you summed up exactly how I felt watching that . Midfield needs pace and physicality . The midfield is so slow which makes transition to attack almost none existent. Bowen was getting frustrated with non backup on attempted press . Even if we should beat Southampton who will probably have a manager change boost . The chickens will come home to roost when Liverpool come to town .

I know soucek gives everything he can every game but watching Brightons and Bournemouths midfield I can't see our midfield improving whilst he's part of it , it's so pedestrian its worrying
All the complaining about going with a back 5 in the 2nd half and yet that was the stage of the game we looked most like scoring. We had 3-4 really good opportunities on the counter which could’ve easily led to a goal had our wide players not turned into Said Benrahma with their final ball and decision making.

I think the more defensive approach you identified is really our best option. Imo we simply don’t have the creativity, particularly without Soler, to take games to the opposition. That is something Steidten must rectifyin the window. But given his performance to date I’m not expecting much tbh.
We have no idea what to do when we actually get in the finally third. Relying on someone to do something and often the result is we try to take someone on and end up defending a counter
We didn't have a decent enough core of the squad coming in to the summer though. We literally had to give away both of last season's first choice CBs for free, as well as last season's £30m midfielder. Our best striker was Michail Antonio. Only one right back, no natural LW, midfielders all extremely lacking in at least one basic attribute. Plus oldest squad in the league. Was in a truly awful state coming in to the summer in my opinion. Pretending £100m was a major investment and not required to essentially stand still (not least because Aguerd and JWP will offset £40m+ of it) seems pretty unfair.
i do not enjoy watching west Ham these days. so much so that ive lost any emotion when watching. Very pleased to see Ollie Scarles get more game time but looked totally out ot his depth.
Geo, I'm sure u have been reading my abject consideration about Fullkrug b4 he came to this club, up until today. Slow, not great in the air for big man, average touch. But predominantly, he NEEDS pin point delivery and chances created for him. We don't have that, hence why Antonio worked in the past.

Just got back from the game. Wow that 2nd half was awful, we were so lucky to get a draw. We might not have the ‘right’ players but the manager is clueless. If the opposition manager changes tactics Lopetegui doesn’t know what to do. Same as the 2nd half at Bournemouth.
Annoying result, but I disagree with many on here: thought we put a lot of effort in had a decent performance, albeit with a slow midfield. Paqueta is the only downside for me. Don't mind Paqueta being suspended for the next one. Got to say, Amorim's Utd lost 3-0 to Bournemouth at home. Ahem. Makes our away Monday night draw look quite good. Perhaps not a popular pov, but you can't argue with results.

Got rid of Moyes to hire a bloke thats just as bad but makes more subs. Midfield still gets ran through, keeper still lumps the ball aimlessly upfront, defense is still constantly under pressure and we still rely on Bowen to win us the game

Fulkrug needs crosses, not hoof balls so what does Loppy do? Oh yeah, play hoofball for 60 mins then take off Fulkrug, then put on Summervitand Coufal who have decent crossing ability. Sorry but the blokes a c#%t, sorry for his loss but he needs to go.

Fulkrug needs crosses, not hoof balls so what does Loppy do? Oh yeah, play hoofball for 60 mins then take off Fulkrug, then put on Summervitand Coufal who have decent crossing ability. Sorry but the blokes a c#%t, sorry for his loss but he needs to go.

Fullkrug seemed lazy and uninterested. Summerville needs to be in the game. Defense still needs churched up, leaving some big open spaces on the pitch. Agreed it was a poor showing but I have a glimmer of hope that we are actually finally trying to build on the last few games.
