DUDE!!! Terry, what a project 😖 There was one point that I was prepared to come over and give you a hand. HOWEVER, you were moving around SO FAST, I realized that I'd never be able to keep up, and I didn't want to make a fool of myself, so I just stayed home, sorry! But so far it looks awesome, so I'll get back to the video and see the end product. Good luck! Oh yeah, you did awesome on the exhaust system, so I think you got this!!👍👍🌟
I don't know how many times I tried to do different projects and invariably I would mess something up, I'd get Soo frustrated. And this project looked SO massive and technical, I'm afraid I would have packed it all up and hauled it off to a shop. I take my hat off to you!👍👍 Till the next, Taikuu from Alaska.
Haha persistence is the key, don’t worry, I’ve done plenty of other projects that were massive failures!! Hahaha what do they say… through failure we learn!
Hey mate! Thanks for the video, I’m looking at mounting a bush company 270 XT awning on my base rack, just wondering does the t slot dovetail clamp feel solid and would you trust a big heavy awning bolting down to them? Cheers
Hey mate, no way! They’re only good for mounting small awnings in my view. A 270 would be to much for the small screws that clamp the T slot adapter together.
Maybe put a flat “extension” plate on the front of each Rhino mounting bracket to get some extra height. Cheap to produce and powder coat, just check the legs can still touch the ground.
Hey mate. Thinking of getting a base rack for my series 5 this video showed everything I was wondering about it in a patrol. Wondering what your total vehicle height is from ground to top of rack? And even to top of awning too? Awesome video mate.
Hey Alec, total height is just under 2100 without the awning. I don’t have a lift, however I do have 25% stiffer rear springs that give a slight lift but not much. We could fit in a 2.1 car park no worries. It’s 2200 to the top of the awning when it’s on. Thanks for watching mate, appreciate the feedback. Terry.
Thank you for making this video mate, I'm thinking of getting this setup on my new S5 that's coming. Are you still happy with its quietness, after driving around with it on for a couple weeks?
Just curious, what is the Static load and Dynamic load on the Y62? Or is it an, across the board load (Static and Dynamic is the same) Found the latest Hilux actual roof load is 75kg Static and (33% less) 50kg Dynamic overall, not including Rhino Rack which is about 27kg. So, at a stand still (Static) you can load a whopping 48kg and Dynamic (out bush on a roughish track) a massive 23kg. Not worth the trouble even though the Rack is rated to carry 100kg, you really can't. check this out cheers. ruclips.net/video/r32xd9z4SZ4/видео.html

Hey mate, for 270 awnings you should be using the arb base rack heavy duty awning brackets. Your usual ones won’t cut the mustard.

thanks for the video bud, just got a series 5 and have been curious of clearance on back door for awning. Legend 👍
No dramas mate, you’re welcome. For info, the sunroof tilts as well.
Great informative vid, thanks for filming all the steps mate 👍🏻
Your welcome, thanks for watching.
Terry, I'm hesitant to put the arb base rack on my 2015 model lx570..
Can’t you adjust your tailgate by pushing the button and holding it when you want it to stop?
nice setup! what's the size of the t slot nut 37:22 trying to find something similar
Hello, thanks for your video, very helpful, can you please let me know what size you got, 2145x1285 or 2145x1445?
Nah it’s the narrower one mate, the 1285. The 1445 just looks awful on the car in my opinion.

Yeah good idea. Might have a check around who can fab that up for me. Cheers mate.

@@trltouring43 thanks for the reply mate appreciate it
Cheers for the video. By any chance do you have the height of the top of the rack to the centre of the roof at the rear highest point cheers
Sorry for the late reply Jamie, the measurement you’re after is 9cm. Centre of roof at the rear to the top of the rack.
Nice video mate. Wondering if the tilt function on the sunroof touches the rack. Looks pretty close.
Haha still havnt tilted it! Not game enough.
Thank you for making this video mate, I'm thinking of getting this setup on my new S5 that's coming. Are you still happy with its quietness, after driving around with it on for a couple weeks?
Yep still happy with it, even full of gear it’s super quiet, very very impressed with it really.
What’s the sound like at 110?
Don’t even know it’s there at that speed. That’s with nothing on it, loaded up there’s a fair bit of noise but that’s to be expected.

Ninja
Bit late but you do realise you could have just used a torx bit & unscrewed the plugs. Would have taken you 15min to do the lot.
Nope, don’t even know what that is!! Hahaha all good. I’ll know for next time. Thanks.
@@trltouring43 torx is like an Allen head but in a star configuration. So a torx bit is an Allen key but instead of a hex it’s a star.
Can winge
Thanks for the feedback pal!
That looks awful
