(There was only caste rigidity) If that was the case, why did Swami Vivekanada say -" KERALA is a MAD DOG HOUSE, which even God can not save". You mean to say he was not knowing what he was talking about. Stop blaming the Britsih for the ills created by caste system since time immemorial. Also, please Ambedkar's liitle known book "WAITING FOR VISA" to know the obnoxiousness of caste system. It paid rich divedend for the perpetrators.
