Honestly .... not only it looks INCREDIBLE but your tutorial is sooooo good. Thank you dude.. for spending your time to show us how to do it and for linking all the items. Can't thank you enough
I would like to start off by saying thank you so very much for taking the time to create this video for all of us sir. I to am a toy collector and I'm needing another display for my Masterpiece and vintage G1 Transformers. Along with my Masters of the Universe and Mythic Legions figs. I found a slew of those metal shelving units behind a Wal-Mart by my place. Maybe they'll let me have or buy a few. Thanks again for the most awesome idea!
Amazing!!! It's amazing how far a little creativity and skill goes! This video is a testament to saving money. Like you can go the expensive route and buy a shelf at inflated price, or you can use a little extra time and stimulate your creativity and skills and build an amazing display like this one! I've gotta do this sometime soon!
Amazing what you have done!! Well done . I’m debating to create my own hot toys shelf because i have moducases and both there black& white cases but I like the white cases better because of my home interior and don’t want to go through moducase again they are expensive and take forever . This creativity of your home made case really helps come up with a design thank you so much sir!! Awesome case
Awesomeness! I appreciate the feedback! I hope all goes well with your future project, and feel free to come back and ask questions if you need any help in the future!
Thanks for the great video. It's nice seeing someone else going outside the ubiquitous detolfs (they're so limiting). Just got a Uline 48X18 wire shelf unit - can fit so many figures on one shelf! And height isn't a problem.
Amazing man I just bought a house not long ago and I’ve been dying to get my hands on some of these nice looking display cases but I didn’t want to spend an arm and leg for them..thank you so much I’m going to try this and see how it goes
Great project idea. Thanks so much for sharing. Just what I need for my sudden Gunpla collecting fever. I'm running out of shelf space. One question though. How do you open in case you want to make changes on display or to add figures?
Really like this video I’ve been looking all over RUclips but a lot of the video skips out on details we need to see! How does the glass/acrylic work does it open in and out slides? Can you go more into how it will open and close
Simple! I used adhesive magnets (Linked in description) and glued the magnets onto the plexiglass around the shape of the frame! Then it just sticks on and off of the frame with the magnets! Hope this helps out, and thank you for checking out the video!
Nice job. Im sticking with my detolfs for at least another year. But doing something like this is so much more tempting than spending £1,500 on moducases and waiting a year to get them too.
This helped me out so much. A heartfelt thank you! I wanted to also ask, how much weight do you think the glass shelves with the middle support hold? I have about four Sideshow premium formats that I want to display on one of them, as an example! Thanks again!
I’ve never owned a premium format! So I’m unfamiliar with the weight of them. To be on the safe side, I would ask at the hardware store if they have a thicker piece of glass and use that for them!
Oh heck yes! I would definitely get thicker glass. Or use the wood boards that come with the shelf, and paint them white! But the frame is heavy duty shelving rated for around 1,000lbs! You should be able to load these shelves down with no problem. Just as long as you get thicker glass shelves. The frame also has middle support for the shelving as welll! Hope this helps out.
Another question. My frame is grey and I do want it as black. I didn’t know weather to tape everything with black vinyl tape or spray paint it. Did you have to sand down your frame before spray painting? Also metallic? Thanks for the help man I appreciate it. I can’t wait to get all the supplies because the end product it looks amazing. Basically like a moducase.
@@JojosupremeIQ195 yes! I used non prep gloss black spray paint! No prep needed, just spray lightly and cover the entire frame! I’ve built 3 of these now, and it’s the perfect budget moducase!
Thanks for the video; learned a lot from it. Was wondering, when you spray painted the metal frame, did you need to seal it after with a clear coat or is it not necessary with the krylon fusion paint that you used?

Marcio, I really appreciate that! Glad I could help out!
This is. EXACTLY the type of display case I need! Thank you so much for this awesome guide & links to supplies.
Glad I could help! I’ll be building 2 more of them soon!

Thank you! Looks awesome!!!❤
very nice display, the cute cat clip was a great addition to the video
Thank you! I had to add her to the video at some point, as she was “helping” for the entire build! Haha!
Wow amazing… this looks professional….
I appreciate that!
Looks great buddy!
Thank you Mike!

Awesome! Enjoy! I have 4 detolfs, and I’m planning on building more of these to take their place one day!
I love a good hack! 👏🏿👏🏿 Brilliant. 👏🏿👏🏿
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!

Thank you this is exactly what i was looking for nice collectables btw 👍

Great project idea. Thanks so much for sharing. Just what I need for my sudden Gunpla collecting fever. I'm running out of shelf space.
One question though. How do you open in case you want to make changes on display or to add figures?
I have no doors, currently. Originally had magnets, but now I just have them open!
May I ask, how do you open the display cabinet or where the door to open to add more figure
The plexiglass is one big piece that is removable with magnets!

Thank you! That means a lot!
Nice job very helpful...i wull try to do something like it also
Have fun!!
Thank you
Nice job. Im sticking with my detolfs for at least another year. But doing something like this is so much more tempting than spending £1,500 on moducases and waiting a year to get them too.
I agree! I came up with this to create a cheaper moducase alternative!
Subbed with both of my channels... nice videos man.
PeytStrick, what brand of lighting are you using ( lighting showing on your video) Thank you
Currently using strip leds from Super Bright Leds! www.superbrightleds.com/5m-white-led-strip-light-highlight-series-tape-light-12v-24v-ip20
I want to do this with a 48x18x70 mussel rack but can't get the plexiglass in that size localy.
I want to make a custom display like this for thr hot toys tumbler
It will fit in this shelf!!
This is what I did and looks amazing, modu case charger 250 for a case? I'd rather stacked fish tanks on top each other for the price of 150 per tank.
Overpriced fish tanks are about what moducases are! Haha!
@@PeytStrick way cheaper, over price modu crap , c'mon.
You’re acrylic glass is 1 piece? And it covers the whole front?
Correct! The one i used is linked in the description!

How do you get rid of the spray paint smell afterworks?
Give it time, should go away after a day or two! I’d let it sit outside for at least 24 hours
Great video it helped a lot what was your total expense
Roughly around $450!
Thank you for the video! Question. shelves... some of my collectables are pretty heavy. upwards of 25lbs. These rated to handle that?
Oh heck yes! I would definitely get thicker glass. Or use the wood boards that come with the shelf, and paint them white! But the frame is heavy duty shelving rated for around 1,000lbs! How does it open?
The plexiglass is removable with magnets!
Me mola mucha la vitrina.te quedo expectacular.una pregunta? Como pusiste las puertas y de qué material ?
Muchas gracias
Usé un trozo de plexiglás. Usé imanes para sujetarlo al frente.
Eng: I used a piece of plexiglass. I used magnets to hold it in front.

@@PeytStrick im sorry dude i have another question what size black vinyl tape do i use? Is it 1'', 1&1/2'' or 2''?
Thanks for the video; learned a lot from it. Was wondering, when you spray painted the metal frame, did you need to seal it after with a clear coat or is it not necessary with the krylon fusion paint that you used?
No need to prep! The metal is already painted, and the type of paint I used stuck to it and look perfect, Just spray lightly! Thanks for watching!
Bro how did I missed this?
Sadly this design heavy statues that weight 20 pounds plus each. Good design for PVC figures but terrible for Polystone or resin statues.
Just use the wood shelves that are included, instead of buying glass ones. The frame itself can support a lot of weight!
