In Australia, My Guns are in one Safe, My Ammunition in another, My Bolts in a Third, My Magazines in a Fourth and The Keys for all the Locks in the Fifth. And that’s just Storage; don’t get Me started on Transportation Rules and Regulations.
@@Blackwater_House Serious question: is this true or are you using hyperbole to make a point? I know that contrary to many Americans' belief, Australians still have guns and many hunt and compete, but I've never heard about storage discussed before. If that's really what you all do, that is intense. How do you store a revolver? Do you need to remove the cylinder and crane to separate them from the frame each time you lock it away?
my grampa found a few old old boxes of 12ga shells back from when he used to hunt in the 90s. we fired them all off with out a single missfire or malfuction.
I really like these trays but in the set of 4, with the plastic “cans” being the traditional .30 caliber size. I get the minis for lightweight for the range, but think the larger .30 size are more practical for storage. You can also get the largest size shown here in a set of 3 in the same type of tray, and then put the MTM 100 rd snap lid boxes inside those on end. In fact MTM used to sell that setup as a combo with the big box and a set of the 100 rd boxes with it. For that big of a box, unless it’s shotgun shells, loose ammo will quickly get heavy. This way you can quickly grab a couple 100 round boxes and go. I’ll have to think about adding this “5 mini tray” set to my pile, appreciate the review! 👍
I just bought 2 of these! LOVE them! I got all my different calibers arranged threw away all those little boxes and was able to get an accurate count of what I have. I will get another case for my 12 gauge shells for sure! THANK YOU!
:Been using MTM for quite a while myself. Modular, sturdy yet light weight. Also use the larger ones for emergency food and other items that I want to keep dry yet easily accessable. Thanks, Sootch!
I wanted one of those trays when no one had any. I emailed MTM directly and asked if they could let me know when available. They did, and I got the tray no problem. Nice folks.
Come on Sootch! You just wanted us to see your ammo collection! Like looking in a bank vault and probably equal value in today’s market. LOL! Like the review. I have some MTM products and have been contemplating the crate. I also love the Sootch discount. I’ve saved quite a bit of money using it.
I'm weird, I actually like to store them in the branded ammo boxes they came in, some of the art's cool, and I only put them in ammo crates when shooting hundreds of rounds at a time, which is almost never nowadays lol
Plastic is air and moisture permeable. Use the metal cans with new gaskets. If the kids are damaged or beat up, get new lids and gaskets. Rural King makes brand new ones and they’re less expensive than the plastic ones.
Realy great system for transport and storage. Add desiccant and put in your storage spot. I have 2 of these and I don't know how I got along with out them. Grab and go
I was beginning to wonder if I was dreaming that I had seen this video earlier. I mean, there's stuff in my wish list because of it! Anyway, these boxes look useful to me, and I'll be buying them soon!
And one of the best storage containers I have ever seen most people don't know about they are pet casket shells these are heavy grade plastic shelves the utilize a butyl Rubber seal I have seen them buried for a decade or more in dug up perfectly intact and there is no smell coming out from the contents inside I did not open the thing but the casket wasn't degraded and they come in multiple sizes Saint Bernard down to kitty cat maybe even hamsters
Nice idea. My problem is that I would need 8-10 for 9mm only, not because I have too much, but because I have that many different manufacturers, bullet styles, different pressures, etc. That's why I do not dump my ammo into cans. I keep them in their boxes. Same goes for all my calibers. The 50 Cal cans look useable for me. Do they make the caddy for that size also?and can you stack the caddys on each other as well?
FYI, you can fit 1,000 loose 9mm in one of those AT30 cans. They are now selling the 4 pack crates as Bass Pro and other places. Haven't had my for very long. I got rid of my plastic cans many years ago and went with all metal cans. I liked this crate and wanted to try it out for range purposes. I might even remove the middle two cans and store other items in the middle to simplify range days.
I have one and like it a lot. Gotta pick up a couple more since im running out of room and I have a couple new calibers to start stocking up on. Cant go wrong with the good old metal cans either for long term
Like they did back in the old west learn how to make your own cartridges your own primers how to refill primers reload cartridges smelt your own lead if you can't afford it get the equipment to build it piecemeal if you have to.
My hubby has been working on reloading primers and has spotty success. Those chems can be dangerous to experiment with. Major primer manufacturing facility said they will no longer produce primers. They don't care if we have guns if they can squeeze the ammo market. All this makes me sick.
Great info, but WHY would I want to dump all my ammo out of the box? I have several makes of each. I believe it would have been better to show how many boxes of what configuration would fit.
I've been looking for the background music for months, it just helps me relax so much easier, I would like to know what it is! Thank you so much for your vlogs sootch! I love your vehicles as well.
I just recommend you order a pallet of M2A1/ M2A2 ammo cans from Clean Ammo cans. Great deal. Last order I placed, with freight to MT, we were talking under $8 a can for legit, American steel cans. Sorry, MTM is decent stuff, but just cant take a beating. Apply some Dow/ Corning silicon grease to the gasket and it is as good as new.
I'm new to the firearms world so this is probably a dumb question, but do you keep the same brand/type in a single box? For instance I see you're using Fiocchi. So will one ammo box have all Fiocchi 9mm or could you mix Fiocchi with Winchester, or mix FMJ with JHP?
the big can (50 cal) leaks air when slight pressure is applied in a squeeze to the side of the can. this is unacceptable. the smaller cans don't do this. the plastic is really good for primer storage to prevent them from detonation in the event of a fire
thank you for the video sootchoo!!! keep up the great work you do for us everyday!!! i am a big fan of you sootchoo!!! please don't stop what you are doing!!! i like both of your channels on youtube!!! you have alot of information for us. thank you again sootchoo!!!!!! i don't care what other people think of you. keep up the great work you do for us. i don't care what big tech think of you gun guy's do on youtube and facebook and other sights on the medie. you guy's teach us the safety of guns on youtube. keep up the great work on youtube. The entire tray system stacks on top of each other also and locks in place, makes it really nice to go vertical securely. I have all the same size, but I wonder if the mini tray fits on top of the large tray?
I dont understand the human need of fixing a problem that was fixed when you bought the product to begin with in this case ammo. Unless all you do is reloads the ammo comes in perfect packed boxes already. I have shotgun shells made out of paper in their original cardboard boxes stored in a big cardboardbox and their over 50years old! Looks and shoots as the day they were new. 🤷♂️ And i have many different kinds so its quite handy having them in boxes that tells me exactly what they are.
These are definitely not for long-term storage of anything you want to keep away from moisture. I've had my 5-crate mini for about a year and can confirm they ARE NOT even close to airtight or watertight. Large desiccant packs added to the boxes are bright pink, meaning saturated with moisture, inside a week despite being kept in a bedroom closet. They are also not the best carrying any significant weight. The latches fail when carrying anything more than about ten pounds. They would be fine for the purpose suggested by Sootch. A single range trip with several kinds of ammo.
I love these MTM crates. The smaller cans are easier to manage and let you bring more of a variety (mix n match). I also use them for seeds, parts, gardening/orchard stuff (e.g. pruners, labels, ties, etc) and general garage stuff.
Question: having accumulated ammo before and during the shortage, is it better to leave it in the small cardboard boxes with the little plastic separators, or unbox it and dump it into ammo storage boxes such as this MTM product? I know that original packaging is good for reselling, but ammo isn't something I'd resell.
I really like the MTM Product Line. I have the 50 & 30 cal ammo crates and will add a mini crate soon. But I really like their Storage crates. Very useful for emergency supply storage and other supplies that may be needed. That and they are Pad lockable also.

@@Blackwater_House he said that because of ammo prices right now in the USA, ammo is more precious and expensive that guns

I watched the first version this morning and ran out to Bass Pro and picked it up for $29.99 today. Thanks for the review.
Thirty bucks? That's all??
I'm out the door now.
I've been using MTM cases for years. Love them! They stack great and are light, yet hold a TON of ammo.
Just a heads up costco selling the "multi purpose" storage unit that is just like the mini crates for 19.99
They sell these at Costco now.
I love their Ammo Crate boxes! They're super sturdy, they stack very well and it holds all of my smaller overlanding gear.
I just bought 2 of these! LOVE them! I got all my different calibers arranged threw away all those little boxes and was able to get an accurate count of what I have. I will get another case for my 12 gauge shells for sure! THANK YOU!
How many 12 GA can you fit in one Mini can?
One of our group got these about two years ago, now we all use them, good stuff.
It pays to have a help carrying the heavier loads. Thanks for the video!
Hey - I know you from your other channel, @sootch00 I didn't know you had this one!
My son works for MTM!!! Lol

Metal ammo can and a couple of bags of rice in a nylon pouch.. That's how I'm doing it

Now make the crate Milwaukee pack out compatible.
awesome thanks for the video, i got the Ar 15 one and its cool
Very nice set up. Looks like pretty durable cases

I store all my loaded AK and AR magazines in the MTM cases, they work perfectly.
Got an MTM crate for my birthday. LOVE IT!

I have that same exact gun he has right there only it’s a BB gun and a pretty darn good one at that
MTM makes good cases. I bought 8 of their small pistol cases 'MTM 805-40' and they all were quality made with no issues.

Thanks for the show and tell. I'm heading to their website now. Looks like a great solution to haul my mags to the range.
So what about bad ammunition mixed with the good?
