- While we’ve seen modern sequels and reimaginings of classic series like God of War, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta, there’s one 3D action game pioneer that still has not seen a new entry in over a decade: Ninja Gaiden, the best pure action game of all time.

And that there lies the problem. Itagaki was forced to leave after the “affair “ he had and recently gave us wanted: dead. The NG team however gave us wo long recently. So, unless they manage to come together, 🤷🏾♂️
The man truly responsible for ninja gaiden's success has left team ninja. Ninja Gaiden will suffer hard without him.

Look up some more advanced gameplay (from the likes of JTB123 and Bigalski), the person playing in the video is not making the most of what the game offers. It’s such a great game.

Its a true master piece when it comes to gameplay execution nd the level of violence and the sound effects. A next gen Ninja Gaiden 4 will be a huge comeback that many fans will be dearly happy including me.

The difficulty system is also relentless. The enemy level upgrades in a way that it doesn't simply makes it a damage spounge, like many other games. It makers their AI smarter and forces early encounters with endgame versions of the enemy.
Yea they need to make enemy aggressive or more cunning or even suicider in higher difficulty instead of bullet sponge like in Bethesda games
@@OSTemli that's by far the best thing about the NG diffuculty, that Capcom games often struggle to balance. New abilities new tech new ways to kill you, but if you knock them in the air, or catch them with a dive at the right angle, they still fall just like the rest.
Capcom's recent flagship games DMC 5 and Resident Evil Village both felt weird at higher difficulties where enemies suddenly decide to stop flinching from clean power hits or battles become 5x as long mostly because of HP inflation than new tactics
This dude works for IGN, it's doubtful he ever even tried the hard mode.
Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 are the best of that genre. The flow of combat is better than any other game even modern entries.

Something about Ninja Gaiden is more satsifying than the other games. Ninja Gaiden legit feels like you are in the real world over coming adversity. Like how it would be if you had super abilities fighting guys with assault rifles for real
No grinding or RPG mechanics, that’s why. Just a pure game designed to test you fairly without disrespecting your time.

Just replaying again on Very Hard on XSX (the update to resolution and frame rate). This truly is the GOAT. Combat was focus of video but other pros:
Each new difficulty felt fresh
The kinda 'resident evil/metroidvania' approach to level design compared to later iterations.
Light Platforming and puzzles to break up combat. Omission from other iterations.
So many costumes and unlockables and mission mode.

It’s easily the best balanced game overall, in addition to being one of the best action games. NG2 would win best action game at the game awards but it wouldn’t be nominated for GOTY like Black would.

Hands down the deepest and most responsive combat system ever in a player action game. Glad this is still being celebrated and fingers crossed for a comeback for the series.

Yup agreed. Probably the best action game ever made. Myself and my little sister played the hell outta this. When you mastered it you felt so 100 percent in control. It was so fluid, so fast and smooth. Incredible game. Rock solid 60fps and looked great for its time too!
Completely agree. As someone who LOVES the DMC franchise, Ninja Gaiden Black just hit different.
When you choose harder difficulty in Ninja Gaiden Black, you will face new enemies,. They did not just buff up the same enemies.
This really blew my mind at that time and make the game so replay-able. And to me the best fights are Ryu vs them Dark Ryus. The bosses literally taught me some new combos, like slash --> kick to the air --> throw incendiary shuriken --> kick away, boom --> Flying swallow =)))

This actually used to be pretty common back in the day with higher difficulties but nowadays it rarely happens
@@MILDMONSTER1234 Nowadays they go for the lazy route of increasing difficulty in games, simply making enemies bulletsponges and doing more damage. Its just not interesting to me.

Ninja Gaiden made a great comeback was all thank to Tomonobu Itagaki
The guy understood what made the original games great and went further with the aid of advanced technique to create Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2, the most intense action games I've ever played. His philosophy about this franchise is what made it great.
When he was forced to leave the franchise, it's gone down hill since then.
In term of pure action, Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 are GOAT.
And one of the most difficult games ever.
Considering Itagaki hasn't been able to pull off a decent game since he parted Tecmo and that Team Ninja eventually found their footing after the blunder of "Ninja Gaiden 3"... I'm not so sure about that....

All Team Ninja did was develop a game that matched the pacing that they were comfortable at developing. The Nier franchise is almost wholly and completely a different game from the Ninja Gaiden series.
Itagaki was absolutely responsible for the success of reviving the Ninja Gaiden franchise, Devils Third is his only release since Ninja Gaiden 2 and really its biggest mistake was being exclusive to a console that failed to be pervasive in the mainstream market and catering to the quirks of that console. Many people still love that game for the deep and stylish gameplay it brought, even if it was clunky due to playing with a giant gamepad.

@@savaget2058 Other M wasn't Team Ninja's blunder. Their work on it is actually great. They finally made a 3D Samus that has the maneuverability of 2D Samus. The action and controls are fantastic. The main problem is the characterization of Samus is awful, and that stems from the game's director at Nintendo.
Dude u forgot to mention one of the most important aspects of the game which is its spectacular set of music through the entire game also its graphics is way ahead of its time and the cut scenes were above amazing level.
The music is sooo overlooked.

Love how this game forces you to learn technique. You can squeak by the first level mashing buttons, until the first boss literally wipes the floor with you
The Speed and Momentum of Ninja Gaiden's combat is the best on the genre. It's just so satisfying and rewarding to beat a chapter or a boss battle that has been giving you headache in a battle that you can actually understand what's happening but at the same time it's so chaotic and beautiful

My biggest gaming achievement was beating this game on Master Ninja difficulty. It really felt rewarding.
This game is one of my favorite of all time! The Alma awaken battle is top notch!..And the sound track is on is unforgettable!

IT IS truly a crime, against humanity that Team Ninja has not made another installment in the Ninja Gaiden series. It was one of the first modern updates to a classic game that was solid.

Combat and controls are so fluid you feel like an actual ninja. Makes me wonder why so many people complain about controls too.

The combat is pure. It was designed around playing like dead or alive action game. It’s not a pure action game, which is why it’s better than all the others. It’s also better because it requires actual learning in order to finish the game.
You say that as if you can eaily beat Bayonetta on NSIC without learning dodge offset lol. NG aint unique in that regard bro even Doom eternal does this

Literally have not stopped playing since it first came out . My favorite is breaking the rules of what the game has set attacking the enemy with such flawless technique that it actually stops trying to attack me and just stares at me
Same with Onimusha 3 and Prince of Persia.. totally forgotten amazing video game series.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is my jam. That staircase in the underworld is my favorite spot. Ther wer so meny ninja that the game slowed down on. Then on the next Jen it got crazy. Cus everything ran smooth and you're brane had to speed up lol

Nothing ever top NG 2 in terms of pure style and tough challenges as much. Finding opening to finish of one guy in the arena, to then instantly charge up weapon and unleash the carnage.

@@TK-ev The holt slayer gate was more challenging then anything black and 2 threw at me outside of maybe purple laser fiends. Especially with forward y with the talons exists for an easy delimb plus ninja gaiden isn’t exactly about player expression either

Ninja Gaiden gives you that high you get from knowing that it takes skill to quickly clear a room filled with tough enemies. DmC is stylish and you can get away with button smashing.
Yeah but fighting vergil in DMC is way more fun then fighting Alma but NG enemies are top tier

Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja Mode was the most challenging and fun game I’ve ever played. Still true in 2024!
Now imagine NG Black with a PvP mode. The combat system has just enough depth to pull off, they'd just have to remove most of the magic spells.

@@MILDMONSTER1234 that's because Ryu deals way more damage and the boss health melts way too fast, they should've adjusted where they don't take hefty damage and player has to learn the moveset in order to defeat it
@@neverEndingvoid525 That goes against NGs design though, everything in NG is supposed to be a glass canon including the player. Master ninja mode the bosses have a decent amount of health while still getting shredded if your hood but The problem is that a lot of the bosses are just kinda meh with some exceptions like Dokus who easily the best fight in the game

Wish this video focused on Ninja Gaiden 2, the best game in the series and the last NG game Itagaki created not the Sigma garbage that happened after he left Tecmo.
It’s not better then black, not as polished. Itagaki even admitted they rushed the game a bit
