Sonic 3 and Knuckles is my favorite game of all time, so I think you'll have a lot of fun with that one. There's also more emeralds than usual to get, but it's 100% worth it

Oh boy the 2 boss no hit run, the devs of sonic 2 wanted to really test us lol You have to hit the death egg robot just right, you can even hit him while walking but it's really weird with knuckles because of his nerfed jump height, if you didn't notice he has a lower jump then everyone else because of how he makes up for it with climbing, during a boss is when you really feel the nerf But plus side, SONIC 3 & KNUCKLES TIME

Oh also FYI when you entered the death egg you would always start off with zero rings, no matter how much rings you still had at the end of of sky fortress. A tip for sonic 3. I'd recommend playing as sonic and tails for this as that game is more story oriented, and you miss out on content if you don't play as sonic (I won't spoil). And as for chaos emeralds in sonic 3 instead of looking for checkpoints, your looking for big rings but this time they are hidden around the zone instead of at the end of level so make sure when playing sonic 3 you check for any secret passage ways or hidden areas as they may lead to a big ring
the S3&K stages are not out in the open like in Sonic 2 but hidden & are not star posts, in fact the Mania bonus stages were based off the S3&k as they are blue sphere, & some of those ones were even in Mania, so here are a few things to know and remember, first & most important is that you can jump, this can help when trying to avoid red spheres or bumpers & sometimes even a blue to get all the rings in a stage, plus if you do hit a bumper you can press forward to go forward again, collect all the rings in a stage to get the perfect bonus & 50'000 points which will give you an extra coin, also remember that a square, rectangle or formation of 9 or more blue with some blue on the inside can be turned into rings, the top right counter shows how many rings are left as it counts down like it did in Mania unlike up in the original games, you might find some of the stages tricky but with enough coins you can try as many times as you want, 1 final suggestion is that you play as Sonic/Amy &/or Tails first, as Knuckles story happens to be his own, if you can think of anything else you want to know then just like & reply

There is no option in the game to change the Sonic 3 music so you have to use a mod. Im not a lawyer but i would guess why there isn't an option to have the Michael Jackson music is because they can't use it without Sega paying royalties so they probably just decided its not worth it. Fun Fact (maybe): Its rumored Michael Jackson actually wanted his song "Black or White" to be in Sonic 3 some way but was refused by Sega.
Funnily enough, a dark form was originally going to be part of this model for that exact reason! I had to cut it due to time, but with it being spooky season, who knows what could be added... The Sonic 3 music lore is insane tho! I'll probably play it as is, but it's really crazy that they'd have Michael work with them and then scrap it altogether 😯
1 extra piece if advice if you're still looking to get emeralds when you get to Marble Garden act 1 then I suggest you take the top path [land on the rotating platform] as I found 5 total [I think, might be just 4] on that path

Oh my goodness, the final boss is going to be so much harder as Knuckles. So many less chances to hit him with Knuckles' shorter jump height. Your first attempt to hit him would have worked as Sonic.
Oh no! You don't even get the full ending cutscene as Knuckles. In the Sonic ending, there are some grayscale pictures of Tails seeing an explosion and hopping on the plane. Tbh, I thought those would still be there even if you were applying as Knuckles. Oh well. 25:46 And the eyes don't show up in the bush! 😂 Because they're supposed to be Knuckle's eyes in reference to Sonic 3's box art. This screen was first added in the mobile version and then Origins. It obviously wasn't in the original because S3&K wasn't a thing yet.
The vibes carry Sonic 2 so hard for me, I loved Cassino Night, Chemical Plant, Emerald Hill etc. But MAN, Metropolis, Sky Chase, DEATH EGG are terrible. And god, playing this with LIVES is insane, the original version of Sonic 2 has TERRIBLE special stages (its so much harder to see ANYTHING, in origins atleast its a lot smoother and you can retry using coin), imagine getting to Death Egg and FINALLY getting to eggman and dying instantly, meaning u have to to restart the WHOLE game from the very beginning (and yes, you NEED to get the chaos emeralds AGAIN) Also, in the original ending (no chaos emeralds), tails is the one who saves u, since u cant use ur Super Form to save urself, i honestly like that version a lot more, but other than that the ending is the exact same. And in Sonic 4 Episode 1, they recreated that boss fight, its the exact same BUT he also breaks the platform ur standing on out of nowhere, cheap death trap. But dw, theres only one ACT in Sonic 3&K that is actually considered terrible, no "3 Acts" bs, no terrible enemy placement, even the water level in Sonic 3 is great (way better than the Mania version imo), the final level is still hard but WAY more enjoyable and more fair than levels like Metropolis. I'm honestly excited to retry that final boss now, everytime I play sonic 2 i stop in Death Egg because of that final boss, i'll boot up origins and try again Update: I actually booted up Sonic Origins and managed to beat Sonic 2, after YEARS of giving up on that final boss fight, now i can finally say i 100% completed sonic 2
I do agree Sonic 2 zones (besides every single one I played in this video, lol) have AWESOME vibes, especially with the art and music! The idea of playing this on Classic mode with limited lives sounds like torture tho 💀 I'll still go into 3 with an open mind, especially since I'll experience it the intended way with Sonic! I just hope the boss doesn't give me THIS much trouble 😅

Also Death Egg in Sonic 3 is an actual level this time, not just a boss fight Just remember to always look for the Giant Rings hidden in the levels, thats how u get to the Special Stages, u can find MULTIPLE in each level, and theres 14 in total. Try getting all of them and u'll unlock an extra Zone at the end, DoomsDay Zone Sonic 3 is prob the only classic sonic game made for Sonic Tails AND Knuckles in mind (ofc except Mania).
Sorry for making a third comment on here, but yes there is a mod to restore the original music. The music in Sonic 3 & Knuckles is all the same as the original except for three zones. Those three zones had their music replaced with their prototype versions. Normally, I like the prototype version better for Carnival Night zone, but then the other two I like the original release versions better. However, the versions of the prototype versions they use in Origins are terrible.
Oh and it's to my understanding that you should get the definitive sonic 3 OST mod from gamebanana, I believe that's what you need to get because you not being to experience the real version of ice cap zones music should be illegal 😂
Pebbles be lucky that you didn’t play the original version because if you did and you got a game over, it would start from the beginning there was no saves Because I experienced the original version and it was suffering
