So glad that you’ve explained just how important and useful it is to have a solarmeter. While pricey, it is well worth it to ensure your animals are receiving proper uvb levels.
What a great video! I have been investigating some build-your-own-meter options using raspberry pi and my smart computer building friend. In any case, it's so great to see videos out there with important information like this and someone like you, so invested in the proper care of reptiles. Keep up the great work.
Most definitely can wait to get one for all my reptiles! Saffron is thriving just got to move him into his 40 gallon tank had to wait a while having so many reptiles I have to quarantine them longer in 20 gallon tanks for the safety of all the reptiles. By far he’s climbing the latter for one of my favorite reptiles, he’s just so enjoyable 🥺❤️
Definitely sounds like a worthy investment, plus I'm a gadget addict. Thank you for breaking it down for the rest of us 😉 I hope you're safe and warm wherever you are 🥶
They are a great investment if you have multiple animals. I’ve got one bulb that’s been going 18 months now and still well within range. I’ve also used it on my crested gecko where the standard shadedweller was too much but took out the reflector and was perfect. As the bulb aged I added back in the reflector. Again that bulb has been going for over 18 months.
@@HunterHouck Its also a great way to recycle older tubes. I have 6 shadedwellers and some species require very low UV (Argentine Horn Frog & Bauers Chameleon Gecko) so I just use the old bulbs from the other enclosures. Hoping it will save more over time 🙂
I'm extremely excited to pick mine up I asked for money towards it for my bday and am paying the rest to come up with he full amount I'm super excited I've had my baby's for like 4 years now maybe a lil longer and I now have 6 beardies and 4 Leos so I spend a ton on uvb bulbs so if ever this saves me money one one of 2 bulbs a year than I'm happy so can't wait to get mine do u have any recommendations on where to get one by any chance
Definitely seems like a cool product, Hunter! I have a completely unrelated question though that I'm asking a bunch of people whose opinions I value. I need to pick a high school senior quote, but am stumped for what to choose. Do you know any good quotes by any chance?
Great informative video! Hey I don’t have a meter yet but I’m wondering for my 40 gallon tank would I need to put the t5 10.0 linear bulb inside the tank or is it okay on top of the mesh top? I know there’s a percentage that is blocked due to the mesh top but enough to put inside the tank?
I’m not able to advise because I’m not sure of your specific bulb, but you can join the “Reptile Lightning” group on Facebook. Their experts are very helpful.
Great video!
Thank you so much, Dayyan! 😁

You actually only need one for all your reptiles, since it’s a portable meter! And that’s so awesome to hear, he’s such a great gecko. 😊
Oh that’s even better thank you! Indeed he is.
*Thank you so much for watching!* 😊 One minor correction: At 03:37, I meant to write onscreen "4 out of 5" instead of "3 out of 5."

Very interesting video. It is kinda pricey..but seems well worth it. Thx!
Thanks for watching! It’s definitely a hefty price, but I do think it’s worth it. :)

Thank you for sharing! That’s a great idea to take away the reflector (and later put it back) to adjust the UVI!

Great info. We use ours daily
Thanks for watching! It’s a very handy tool. 😁

Thanks for watching! I’m terrible with quotes, so I’m afraid I won’t be much help 😂
@@HunterHouck it's fine, I'm terrible as well 🤣

might even find that just raising your basking spot gets you some more life out of the bulb
Period with the nails king 👑
Haha thank you!
It is a rip of price, it costs $38 in Europe and India
You definitely can't find it for $38 anywhere in the world.
