In Hyderabad, many UPSC coaching centres are the same. My coaching centre was on d top floor of a residential apartment, there was no lift facility n d internal staircase had been barricaded. The only way in and out of d coaching centre was a rickety spiral , metal staircase that had been built outside of d building without any permit, it connected d ground floor to d 3rd floor. The staircase was so narrow dat it fit only 1 person, and since it was spiral in structure everyone can only move slowly on d staircase. It was a total fire hazard waiting to happen. The staircase was exposed to wind, rain n d sun, it was always creaking. I wud always be so worried about d single entrance to my coaching centre dat i wud choose to sit nearest to d door in case there was a fire accident. There were no fire suppressant cylinders in my academy either. Its a famous coaching centre in my city, we pay lakhs of rupees for coaching. Yet they can't provide us with d basic infrastructure to ensure our safety. In d end, they didn't give us our money's worth of coaching either.
This is heartbreaking. And the worst part is this is not even an accident. I was shocked to know it was a library in a basement. And to think there are many more coaching centres have their offices/rooms in the basement... मैने 3 जॉब्स ऑफर को सिर्फ इसलिए ठुकरा दिया था क्योंकि उनके offices बेसमेंट मे थे। अक्सर बेसमेंट मे एक ही रास्ता होता है और इमरजेंसी की अवस्था मे आपके फसने के चांसेज बहुत ज्यादा होते हैं । मे ऐसी सिचुएशन मे फस चुका हूँ आग लगने की वजह से उस दिन के बाद से मे ऐसी जगह काम ही नहीं करता जहा से निकलने का सिर्फ एक रास्ता हो ।
