  • I sat down with dating and relationship ninja Matthew Hussey for this episode of the Aubrey Marcus Podcast. We kick it off by reminiscing on our recent trip to Poland with Wim Hof and his breathing techniques and then venture down the path of modern dating. He is an amazing human that taught me a lot in this episode. Dating these days is incredible hard, but Matthew has a ton of tips and advice on how to navigate modern love, romance and relationships. We talk about dating apps, the idiocy of Negging, and how to reframe your story to become the hero you are waiting to be. Matthew also gives relationship advice as it pertains to online dating, getting out of your comfort zone as it relates to making a good first impression, along with specific relationship advice as it directly pertains to either women or men to get the guy or girl you've always wanted.
Check out Matthew Hussey's speech on what confidence truly is at www.howtogetth...

Confidence is a byproduct of competence. Competence isn't a by product of confidence, it's a by product of action and that can be done without confidence by using courage and / or discipline. Forget aiming for confidence. Aim for competence.

Matthew you came out a new man from that experience. There’s something in your eyes and smile that speaks you’ve found a sense of meaning in life. Your energy is just so refreshing and inspiring!
It’s also so new to see Aubrey looking for deeper and more meaningful relationships and becoming a positive force to someone’s life than the ‘transactional’ relationship ... something soulful did really happen on your trip to Poland!

As I am getting to know someone I really like, I am using all the obsessive thoughts and the emotions as indicators to know where I need to work on myself instead of projecting it on a potential partner and overwhelm them or run to other numbing drugs. It's a delicate dance :)

these are the parts i love: 51:18 56:35 (he talks about his dad and then his mom and wow it's so valuable and vulnerable all at once. he admits he has his own anxious voice and needs that parent figure to calm him. and his moms answer to him asking her how do you know who you are? and she replied so truthfully: "i know who i am by what i've done, and what i'm comfortable with" and then he dives deeper into how we can evolve beyond our current self through confidence and competence, but then also necessity of life. that was so cool to listen to, his self-awareness and gentleness is beyond anything i've ever seen in anyone i know.)

So my question is, how do we attract more of these conscious relationships into our lives? It could be attributed to a limited belief, maybe, but I feel it is difficult to find people who have this level of emotional, mental, and spiritual awareness. I want to attract a conscious man into my life, sure, but how do we build a community of people where we can just “be,” as Matthew said. I’ve experienced this. I know how great it feels. And I also know there is difficulty in trying to find that feeling in everyday life. What steps have you taken to realize more of this in your day to day life? How do you connect romantically with someone who has a depth like this, too? It’s not something you can feel about a person through a dating app or over a text.

I have approached men with more confidence knowing he might not happen be interested to me. I'll keep this conversation in mind when I am out in the world. I always approach people like I am genuinely interested in saying "Hi how are you" (and sincere about it and mean it) not what if I am rejected by this person. It makes everything much easier.

Thank you for posting this video! I know I am late to the party, but I just found it. It was very surprising to me to learn that good-looking men would ever feel nervous about approaching a woman! I truly had no idea. I always thought if I saw a hot guy and he didn't make a move on me, he just wasn't interested. Like most girls, I was trained, too, to never approach a guy first. Haven't been in the dating world for years. I guess now if I see a guy I want to talk to, I'm going to have to get brave just in case! Makes me wonder how many guys I missed out on in the past......hmmmm.

So much brilliant insight in this! I really loved the entire show, even when they were just talking about meditation and breathing exercises. They summed it up well, be the person you want to be including taking time for yourself and your friendships; and you ll find better people to date, be a better person to date, and be in the practice of feeling abundant, thus attracting on that level.
The people that are knocking these men on their breath work might be looking for someone to complete them...which is a dangerous place to be. When you are already complete you compliment and have something to bring to the table. (By focusing on what makes you peaceful and feel good and proud of yourself) When you look for someone else to complete you, you think you aren’t enough, and you ll attract people who validate those thoughts or put you down.

I'm still early in this discussion, I have watched 20' and can't help but feel from both the anxiety of losing connection with the high awareness that we are all wired in.
It's OK to lose connection at times and desperate measures bring desperate results.
What only is required is consistency.
    Consistency of word and practice.
That's the one thing that needs to be done from the people that need it.
I need it too so I can still stay on track and remain sober.
So it takes a serious amount of discipline.
    Discipline must be present daily.

I think what we often do while trying to reach out and meet a new partner is that we are looking in all the wrong places. This includes dating apps. We select profiles of people who may not be interested back in us, and this may be happening for a huge variety of reasons, including, but not only, unrealistic expectations, low standards/poor boundaries, a skewed perception of other people and society, self-sabotage, etc. For example, I was shocked watching this to hear Aubrey saying he was often rejected on dating apps, being so incredibly hot and smart. Just how. What kind of women was he swiping right on? Shouldn't there be a swarm of girls following him everywhere? I am only starting my take on online dating and I'm a little anxious about what will be happening in my case, because man that's a triggering situation. However, I have been binge-watching Matthew's channel to support myself through that process.

In the beginning, Aubrey compares his usual social activity with the experience in the retreat and says"the occasional girl I sleep with", I find it downgrading for women. Women should be sought for as well and especially for that deep connection you had with the boys in the retreat. The Core Problem of women nowadays is right this one and the reason why dating coaches are making millions out of us. Please, men, look for that deep connection with us as well. The sex will be a thousand times better too.

    • @silviazac7492
      @silviazac7492 4 года назад +10

@@accountability1057 If you look at the success rate of dating coaches for women, at the top Matthew, and their message, it looks like most of the time is not the women's choice to have hookups. Sure, they should set boundaries. That's basically what/how most of the dating coaches like Matthew are teaching women to do. The issue is that nowadays more than ever men and women ( even though I believe most women don't really want that, they mainly do it because of fear of losing the man to another woman who is doing it) have made casual sex the norm and so become incapable to really connect, taking away, in my opinion, the real beauty of sex. Sex has been devalued so much from its deep connection sense that it is now comparable to eating a piece of bread. As Matthew says in the video, it is like a sugar shot whose pleasure disappears quickly afterward. The connection he had in the retreat was endurable. In my opinion, the hookup culture, largely favored by dating apps, is unlearning women and especially men how to deeply connect. I think it will be tough for men and women, who grew up in this casual dating scene, one day to have meaningful connections as they won't have the connection muscle ( as Matt refers to when it comes to social skills) and it might be too late to build it. The sugar shot effect explains also the growing cravings for deep connections which is the reason why dating coaches at least from women's side are being so successful. My point in my original comment was that men should not split sex and so women from this deep connection Matt and Aubrey experienced in the retreat and that the nowadays hookup culture tends to encourage them to do it.

@@silviazac7492 sounds like a heavy burden on your shoulders there. Not all hook ups are heartless and not all monogamous relationships have heart. Yeah, I totally agree with your statement, it just comes to show you, that even emotionally intelligent men and women can still use people to fulfill their physical needs. If there is a mutual acknowledgement that, it is what it is (sexual comfort) then fine. But it seems more times than not, it's not the case. He said it very clearly" why did I spend all that time trying to have sex with that girl?". "When I could have been more fulfilled hanging with friends or family" 😬 I can't make the assumption that all she wanted was sex as well. But it does sound like that was his only goal.

1:23:24 - 1:23:56 ahh, I miss that kind of conversation with someone. I think there's only a couple of people like that in my ife where that happens and they're both gal pals. I don't think that's ever happened with man in my life 🤷

This was such a good conversation to witness, on so many different levels. I really enjoyed how real and open both of you where here, and how generous you both where in sharing real sh*t about yourselves. This may very well be my favorite podcast episode I've heard so far. May the force be with you both :)

love you aubury (only started watching recently) and the conversations you have.... love the way youre showing young men a new paradigm.... re. the continuous falling back after doing so much inner work.... its the same as working on the physical body and going to the gym or whatever....to maintain and grow we need to have a daily practice....one that works for us. and i'm starting to believe we need fellowship.... totally freaks me out how christian that sounds..... and as much as i'm not into formalised religion i'm beginning to understand the benefit of being with likeminded people a couple of times a week in a formal way.... and bringing in ritual! us humans seem to love ritual.... we develop them in our lives around our daily habits...but i'm beginning to long for ritual involving more people. and the other major thing about fellowship is it involves support.... wanna start the church of aubury??

I’m listening to you guys and keep thinking the way to continue after the Poland experience is “The Walk to Emmaus” but it takes a lot of courage, many will dismiss it because they think they already ‘know’.

Bingo. At 1:22:55 it was "almost like an effortless dance" - welcome to 5D. Aubrey head back to your Dispenza interview :). Might it be enough to commit to your alignment , continue to attend to your authenticity, values and what you want to feel in relationship, what qualities you see in a potential life partner embodying. Isn't your frequency magnetic? :) Yes, we are some weave of 3D and 5D and beyond; we are both the narrative and transcendent. Your experience w/Wim was transcendent - yes? How would it feel to create/develop/invite a relationship from there, from that frequency? Dance w/yourself - be the story - kind of a piece of where Matt was pointing. Love you two - your hearts - your intentions. At 1:30 you mention it's hard to approach a woman. I'm curious about that. Aren't men naturally hunters? Full disclosure, I'm a wedding officiant, so I'm talking to couples who actually have found each other and I would say that the thing we call "chemistry" is real - and compelling - and transmutes fear into flow.

You both come across as being comfortable in your own skin but with the usual vulnerabilities we all experience. I believe in keeping things genuine and real. What you are is what you attract. And if they don’t want you... they are not meant for you. You will both find your life partner by keeping it real.... just don’t over analyse everything. I love just being me, and because of that I’m happy. Matthew you past heartbreak shows. Just be you, and your kind lady will find you, and who knows, she may also enjoy the films like Spirited Away.
