      @@Elcore
      I am sorry but the argument: ''the film is shite for many reasons'' is completely invalid since the greatest majority of the cinema critics plus almost all the viewers deemed it a very good film. And then you have the 5 Oscars, i the good ol' times, when the committee gave them for art purposes and not for political agendas.. But then again, you could be referring to it's great historical inaccuracies-and if you do, you missed the point. The film was meant to entertain you, not to teach you. If you were looking for what actually happened.. you know.. you can always read a history book. My country's ancient history is frequently raped by Hollywood, and Europe, too. This is art, not history, i am afraid..

    • @Elcore
      @Elcore 3 года назад +2

      @@vardellsfolly5200 Sorry to disappoint you but there was not a time in history when the Oscars weren't rigged. And I was agreeing with you that it's a film with really good things about it - it's one of the best in terms of action scene editing! It's also got plenty about it that is just plain awful (in terms of a story or a drama, not even talking about historical accuracy).

    • @vardellsfolly5200
      @vardellsfolly5200 3 года назад +7

      @@Elcore
      Actually, you did not disappoint at all. I passionately adore the art of film-making. I know that the greatest majority of awards, if not all different awards, are quite often ''rigged'', as you put it. However, this by no means implies that in all circumstances are manipulative. And when it comes to the story, or drama, well. I respect your opinion.. but it is just that. I tend to trust another greatest majority, than of film critics and movie experts,when it comes to quality.. Now, i would never characterize BraveHeart as ''plain awful'' but it was certainly NOT ''The Remains of the Day'' which was nearly a masterpiece..

I would really love for him to make movies similar to the movies he did in his younger years, just using younger actors obviously. Like another revolution movie, with the same tone as the Patriot? Come on who wouldn’t want that. In fact Mel could go through his whole career and just direct movies with similar plots and settings as the movies he did in his younger years, and I bet it’d KILL.

      Mind you, he's not using his iconic claymore in this scene, and even if he was I still doubt it would cut clean through an entire leg and chausses of iron mail. It certainly wouldn't cut through this anachronistic style of armor the English wear in the film.

    I like how there is probably 10 guards who all form single file to fight Wallace. When one dies they run in with the sword waving in the air screaming........ I'm 100% confident that this is how battles were fought back then.

      I always thought these fights are bullshit but I noticed recently how people fight in some video games (i know weird comparison) and its similar. Instead of grouping and fighting together they tend to charge one by one and get rolled. I think it because people want to be heroes or they feel they missed the opportunity so they rush it in hope they will fix it. Adrenalin does its work aswell.

Also when the guy attacks Mel when he's holding the hammer, he does a big overhead swing, and Mel blocks and holds the hammer in the same spot.
