If I recall, Wallace took the man's own knife from his scabbard and slit his throat, just as he did Wallace's wife. The swordsman at the end who surrendered was sent to England to tell Longshanks what happened.
Man all of the timeless and most remembered battle scenes of basically all cinema are the ones that are actually realistic and not just thirteen backflips cutting armor in half with swords and all that nonsense. This scene hardly has any blood but the feeling of being speared in the gut or shot with an arrow is there!
Actually... though I love this film... it has very little to do with historical accuracy in terms of fights and weapons/armor. Even the famous claymore throw scene after the win in one of the battles could not have happened... they were not in use at that time.

@@billywashere6965 Felt real?.? Because you are obviously unfamiliar with the facts.... The battle of "Stirling".... Was not infact fought on a field. It was the Battle of Stirling Bridge, and a large reason the Scots won at Stirling was because the bridge was used as a bottle neck to force the English to funnel their heavy cavalry and large parts of their forces over the bridge, hundreds of English troops fell down into the river from the banks and off the bridge, and the remainder of the cavalry that made it across the river were introduced to to the Scottish Schiltrons, thus routing the English. Wallace also skinned the English commander "Hugh de Cressingham" and by most accounts, the Scots made the English commander skin into leather belts, lace and sheaths. Check your history... I was a kid of 9 when I saw the sword at Stirling Castle..it was taller than me..that it might cleave thru a knee joint in armour is no surprise to me. The thing must have weighed at least 40 pound
@@lesenculinario6133 More like 6 pounds, really (5.95 technically), if you're referring to the famed Wallace sword. That's assuming the sword was, actually, the same used by William Wallace and assuming that sword was, in the 1290s, still the same large type and hadn't been reworked into a larger type later on. Mind you, he's not using his iconic claymore in this scene, and even if he was I still doubt it would cut clean through an entire leg and chausses of iron mail. It certainly wouldn't cut through this anachronistic style of armor the English wear in the film.

Everytime I watch the old man heave that spear with an arrow hanging out of his chest I think to myself "damn, I hope I can do some shit like that one day."
When Wallace looked at the man at the end, he must have been wondering, "How do I begin to deal with this fellow?" 😂
Prima nocte with a baseball bat. Every hour. Every single day.
The question is not "will he die?" but "How will he die?". In the end, the method chosen was borne more out of disgust than anger...all to show he is that rare breed whose in full control, irrespective of the situation.
If I recall, Wallace took the man's own knife from his scabbard and slit his throat, just as he did Wallace's wife. The swordsman at the end who surrendered was sent to England to tell Longshanks what happened.
That was no man.
That was a turd disguised as a human look-alike.

Even the famous claymore throw scene after the win in one of the battles could not have happened... they were not in use at that time.
unfortunately this movie is totally inaccurate and not realistic, but it's still a great movie!
Cutting through armor with swords, a bunch of unarmored guys with farm tools easily defeating well trained soldiers in armor and wielding good quality swords. Not a very realistic movie.

@@Mark-jt5cs No that has nothing to do with it.What this man did is heroic and he deserves to be looked at as such

@@corneliussmiff2773 It felt real though, and that's what really sells it.
Its far more interesting than some Hollywood tale.
@@SpaceHCowboy Not to mention the term "Braveheart" was for Robert the Bruce, not William Wallace. One of the most memorable scenes in cinema history. But I could never get over the fact that he cleaved through steel armor with a sword.
