Thanks for posting this! I was a passenger on a southwest flight into LAX and I had the pleasure of seeing this beast landing while we were taxiing to the gate.
Awesome! The plane is so big that, during its takeoff roll, it looks like it's lumbering down the runway at 25 miles per hour (40 kph)! But, once it was airborne, it was right at home in the Southern California sky.
Hey Ryan I was right by 25L today when it took off, and if you were wondering why it took so long to takeoff, the pilots had to cool off the brakes because they were overheated.
Yeah no problem man, I was at the Flight path museum, teaching a simulator class, took the students out to see the plane and as you said it took nearly 30 minutes to take off! Once I took my students back inside it took off 5-minutes later, bad luck I guess haha - Demetrius
A380 can't takeoff via 24R & 25R. They avail use by 24L or 25L T/O. So, may be that time, 24L closed due to under construction. In addition, A380 can Land only 24R or 25L.
At one point Boeing were having problems selling a plane, and they considered shutting the line down. Are you about to suggest to me that the 737 is not a massive success story? And the 787, even more problems than the A380, but will probably be a success. Time will tell, I think the A380 will make good on its promise, it's a game changer for airlines.
You obviously haven't seen the issues.. Boeing has a lot orders for the 787 so they don't need to worry as much as airbus does with the A380. Airlines are getting angry plus it's lacking some orders as airbus needs 500-600 orders for the A380 to make a profit.
The 787 has problems with its engines, the A380 has problems with its wings. Every plane has problems at first. Airbus will pick up orders for it, and the figure for a break even is 420, not 500-600.
Well it's giving airbus nightmares... (Which I'm ok with heh) But this plane is putting airbus into the ground they won't even break even with this plane.
It hasn't had more problems than most other new planes when entering service, but as it's the largest thing out there, every problem will end up in the newspaper. Your page indicates that you're a Boeing fanboy. You know, I like Boeing too, but it really is too bad that some of their fanboys feel that the best way to 'defend' their 'team' is by trashtalking the competition. It's so juvenile...
But it's a problem unique to Boeing planes (Airbus doesn't use GEnx for any of its planes) and still a problem on the 787 and 747-8, even if it isn't Boeing's fault. The 787's original problems weren't the engines though, it was fasteners, then wing joints, then electrical fires n shit. Going back to the original point, the A380 isn't shit, it's a great plane to fly on (16 times for me) and it's good for airlines. That's why Emirates aren't happy with 90, they want 130, but there's no space!

A beautiful beast. Korean Air makes it look wonderful!

Thanks so much! I was wondering what took so long, it seemed like it took nearly a half-hour.
Awesome shot man!
Nice vid man!, I was there today same exact spot maybe you saw me, and it did take a long time to takeoff and that BA B77W took a long time to park.
Such a beautiful plane!!!! Great video :)

Hey Ryan I Have A Question for you. That Airbus A380-861 is Take off from LAX to .....?

Good one!!!!!
I know I'm most comfortable at LAX once airborne. That field is a nightmare.
No, it's a pretty common thing. Long taxing, relatively high temperature, pilots having their feet on the brakes, ...
Maravilha de avião. Muito bonito. Mila.
The taxi speed is quite fast for an aircraft with that size.
Yet the engine problem isn't boeings fault. I'm pretty sure the break even point is around 500 and sources or proof?
It flies, it carries more passengers than any other and it allows airlines to make more money, can't be that bad!

They will not use Runway 25L it only uses Runway 24L
You can clearly see in this video that this aircraft is in fact departing 25L.
Possibly send me the link by a PM I would love to be 100% correct for my info next time

Oh yeah and the sources came from EADS.
prolly half empty....

This plane has had so many problems it's literally a piece of shit..
