- Superman appeared in live action just 10 years after his debut in the comics but other members of the Superman family or Superman supporting cast weren't so lucky, in this video I'm gonna go over more than 100 Superman related characters and see how long it took them to appear in live action.
Fun fact the Superman villain The puzzler was in the 1960s Batman TV show for second season in one episode because the actor playing the Riddler didn't want to come back because he wasn't getting paid that much
Superman's foe the Puzzler was a female character that separated like Puzzle pieces was not the same character. Green Lantern had foe Harlequin a villainess but was much different than Batman foe Harley Quinn also a villainess. The first later gave up crime and married Alan Scott the 2nd had hots for The Joker. Batman foe Clayface originally used disguise his TV equivalent on Batman TV show was called Falseface by then Clayface had powers in body to disguise by shape shifting and altering appearance not by wearing masks to disguise.
@@hydrolito actually the original was a guy who love the board games and puzzles and made a appearance in one episode of the 1960s Batman TV show
It's fitting that Superman's first enemy was the one that took him the longest decades to make his live action debut.
Maybe for green arrow and green lantern you could combine those two into one video. They were road trip buddies in the comics and paired up a lot, so it makes sense to tie them together in this. Obviously GA would have more character adaptations, but since GL has so few I wouldn’t think it’d make the video super long or anything
This is genius
There were dozens of different characters called Green Lantern first was Alan Scott, also Hal Gordon and a whole lot of Space aliens but some other earthlings.
If Dr. Death ever appears in live-action, then he’s gonna reclaim the longest gap for the Batman characters.
Krypto appeared in Smallville, they gave him a bath at the end of the episode and dried him off with a bright red towel that they just happen to leave on his back and he walked around with it on for a little bit just so he looked comics-accurate.
see, i was convinced the longest one would have been Chrissy Beppo, seen as she’s probably the closest we’ll get in live action to Beppo the Super Monkey. Though I’d understand if you didn’t include her since she’s not a super monkey lol
You should do something like this for Marvel characters, either Spider-Man or X-Men would be fun to see
maybe marvel as a whole, yes it’d be a lot more to do but there isn’t really any character who’s supporting cast has enough live action material, correct me if i’m wrong
I'm soo glad you're doing this. Superman is one of the greatest superheroes of all time. He's my favorite hero. He's so under appreciated. You should make more videos about Clark and all of his side characters.
you forgot Red Tornado was in Season 1 of Supergirl, they made him a defective robot that had to be destroyed, i wanted him to be reprogrammed to be good, like he was in the Superpowers action figure line
Ma Hunkel was originally Red Tornado back in 1940's and was not an android.
I love how you bring up the very old comics and they have something unhinged written on a cover like "Jimmy Olsen becomes a werewolf"
In Superboy Season 2, Episode 14 in 1990 there was the first (and I believe only) live action appearance of Yellow Peri, who made her first appearance in 1982 in The New Adventures of Superboy #32, 8 years before being in live action.
I never finished Stargirl Season 3 because I got behind then it got cancelled so I figured I'd just wait for it to come to streaming, and I was just thinking the other day "I really hope Ultra Humanite can be brought to Live Action in the new DCU" I had no clue he was in Stargirl.
I really like the idea of these videos; do you think you might ever do one for Spiderman, X-Men, or Avengers?
I don't know if you can count him, but Microwave Man was changed to Micro Boy on the 80's Superboy show. Loving these vids dude, keep up the good work 💯.
holy shit i completely forgot that krypton was a show that happened
it wouldn't be a long list, but could you do TMNT?? I know you're mostly DC & some Marvel, but it's be real cool!
Flash, then Wonder Woman. I feel like Wonder Woman would be a super short video!
I love when Reboots include actors who played characters in the original.
It could be interesting to see a video like this for Justice League members in general
Oh my god that would be so fun
I’d love to see a potential live action appearance from Terra-Man, a Superman villain who is also a cowboy from the future in an upcoming project.
Terra-man was from the past and had technology of a space alien from then.
Please do a Flash one now I’d say Wonder Woman but I don’t think her cast is that big
Yeah Wonder Woman is really just her, the Greek gods, Steve Trevor, the Amazonians, Cheetah and Giganta.
I love these types of videos
I think it'd be interesting to see some Marvel ones like Spider-Man or X-Men
You missed Guardian in Man of Steel.
I'm not sure if it counts but krypto did appear in Smallville. He was a dog that Clark took in who temporarily gained powers from kryptonite and Clark consideres naming krypto untill Lois tells him not to
Maybe try for Green Arrow? Idk how many Arrow characters are actually directly tied to Green Arrow...since a lot of the characters were Batman or League villains.
But I figure his list could still be a good 1.
But also do Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & the Titans (some will be repeats from previous videos due to characters like Wally, Dick, Donna).
I think all of those should have enough for their own videos.
I know it doesn't really count, but I would add Smallville's "krypto" as an honorable mention.
I kept on thinking that too. I thought it should have counted and came to say the same thing.
I would count it if they had actually decided on the name. Lois absolutely hated the name lol
I think it’s funny how many are in the negatives
Love these videos, such a cool concept
Ultra humanite appeared in stargirl that was so cool
The first ever super villian in the history of comics FINALLY made it into live-action!!!!!
Mmmm, monkey
The amount of time it would have taken for research. Bravo.
Thanks for yo hard work!
Damn there are so many superman characters that I didn't even know existed 😂
Yeah dc comics has a huge cast. A lot of characters slip through the cracks while other gain more traction.
Eben was actually Jonathan's ORIGINAL name in the comics. His name wasn't changed to Jonathan till the superman novel published in the 40s or 50s.
Please do a video about red deadth in the flash season 9
Great video btw
I'm pretty sure Krypto first appeared in Smallville not Titans.
He wasn't really called Kypto though (for longanyway), but he did have powers.
I'm gonna guess Solomon Grundy, but he technically started in Green Lantern and is also a frequent Batman villain.
Will you do a video of flash, arrow, legend of tomorrow and other shows plz
I love Superman and was so excited for this video!!!
If I recall there was old black and white Adventures of Superboy which only had a pilot .
A: What if the Dark Universe was built-in the MCU structure?
B: What if the DuckTales Universe was built-in the MCU structure?
you did an great work dude!
Thank you for making this video
The reason Superman does not get much adaptations is because the general public do not understand Superman. Most people have a very shallow surface level view of the character. You see, Superman is... not Superman and he is not an alien (I'm serious). Sure, he came from another planet and has a super powered body, but he is just a man. He is a human like the rest of us. His name is Clark Kent and he has always been Clark Kent. Superman / Kal-El is how the world views him. Superman is more of an idea and Clark is his real self since the day when he was discovered by his human parents (Jonathan and Martha Kent). Clark is human all thanks to his human parents. They raised a human boy and shaped the person he became. Clark Kent is the reason Superman is able to understand how to talk to the "little guys". This is also why Lois Lane chooses Clark over Superman. She could have rejected Clark and chose to persue Superman but she has an incredible intuition (hence her being a high level reporter) and was able to see right through Superman that there is more to him than the surface level view the world has of him. She fell in love a man and not an idea.
Everyone misses the most important aspect of Superman, which is Clark. All they see is a super powerful dude who beats up tough bad guys with ease. This is also why anyone who takes on the "Superman" mantle can never live up to Clark's Superman because without Clark then Superman is nothing but an empty hollow husk (see what happened after Doomsday kills Superman and Superman impersonators attempt to fill in for Superman but all fail because they do not have Clark Kent's wisdom and humanity). Spider-Man is the opposite whereby anyone who puts on the Spidey mask is Spider-Man. Superman is such an incredibly interesting character with so much potential for great stories, but a lot of people don't know about the importance of Clark. They always say it is too difficult to write a Superman story because he is too strong for villains. First of all, not all stories about heroes need a villain that can throw hands. Second, how the hell are they writing Superman without writing Clark Kent first??
This is soo true. I hope they make more future adaptations of Superman where they explore the Clark Kent side of the story more. They are some of my favorite parts of his character
Interesting- but it could be argued that much of Clark Kent is a fiction as much as his other identity. The very fact that he has to pretend to be weaker, both physically and emotionally makes the guise a disguise. Neither is the whole man
@Will N Proven? It really depends on who wrote him. The original version of Clark however, by Superman’s creators made it plain that he usually played the coward, to further the disguise, and to give him a plausible reason to run away so he could come back in the cape. Was that how the real man would have reacted? Like he was silly with fear? I don’t think so. In the Reeves movies, he was a clutzy shy barely social goof-up as well. Real man? But your mileage may vary
@Will N OUCH! Lol
You did not mention/knew.
Originally father Kent was nameless and mother was called Mary.
Then John and Mary (John by Bill Finger if I am not mistaken
And only after years by other writers that gave them Jonathan and Martha names.
Lobo actually really surprised me. He seemed like he might fit into Smallville.
The casting directors for Smallville really saw Desaad and said “idk, just get some normal ass guy to play him”
Wasn’t Desaad just a normal human looking guy with a bad comb over when he debuted, though?
@@hexum7 oh true he was. But at least he was an old lanky man and not just some bloke
You missed Vartox from the Supergirl Pilot (1974 to 2015), though I don't blame you he's nothing like the comic book character. And poor Pee Gee never made it to live action :(
You should have mentioned that Sam Witwer is the only actor in your list to be in 2 Superman roles debuting in live action for the first time. and the first actor to have starring roles in both series debuting them.
I think the next video should be on wonder woman to complete the DC trinity
Didn't mention Brainiac 5 from Supergirl like when you mentioned the actual Brainiac on Smallville and didn't see his green version until the Krypton or Titans show.
Also anytime an actor played a different character previously you mentioned it, except for Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty, didn't remind that he also played Doomsday in Smallville.
If you wanna be technical, Krypto does appear in smallville
What about Lobo. Did I miss him? Didn't he first show up live in Krypton?
So Smallville's Crypto didn't count?
They could have vastly improved Superman The Quest for Peace if they used Bizarro instead of Nuclear Man, and brought back Otis instead of introducing Lennie Luthor. Nothing against Jon Cryer, he made a good Lex Luthor years later but his Lennie character was dreadful
Please do Wonder Woman next to round out the trinity
You forgot to mention Doomsday who was in Batman v Superman.
Fun fact: The only other CSA member to make a live action appearance is Deathstorm.
Are all the radio shows available to listen to somewhere?
Make a flash one to celebrate the ending of the show soon
Perfect ending with Superman for tomorrow.... did you make this video for me? 😂
That ginger cat joke caught me off guard, lmao. Well played. xD
Krypto was also in Adventure of Superboy cartoons in 1966.
Only doing live action
The Flash next
Unless I'm mistaken, Lightning Master predated Ultra-Humanite...
The black steerky cat from Supergirl look like my cat
Wouldn't the Superman impersonator they hired for the 1939 world fair count as a live action debut? (Genuine question, idk)
7:16 that ain’t George and weezy from the Jeffersons?
Forgot the biggest gap with the Gaurdian
Forgot Ultraman was in Smallville
From what I've gathered, the Krypto in Titans is a clone of the Krypto that knows Superman. So the original Krypto does exist in Titans, we just haven't seen him.
21:13 phenomenal joke
The record breaker: 28:50
So, along with Overgirl in Crisis on Earth x, there was a version of Overman, did you mention him?
Smallville Amalgamated Krypto and Streaky with their version of Krypto which was dog but color of streaky and got powers from chemically treated kryptonite and not from krypton like comic Krypto but so sort of copied origin of Streaky.
For how bad Doomsday looked in Smallville you can at least tell who the character was. Can't say the same for the cave troll in BvS.
Incorrect on Krypto's debut. The dog's first appearance is in Smallville Season 4 Episode: Krypto.
Do the teen titans or justice league next!
Mercy kinda debuted in Smallville
Did he skip dreamer? Who is an adaptation of the legoinaire dream girl...
I thenk Maggie AND the legión are More Superman charakters
Atomic man was 31 years later not 41 2018-1987 = 31
Kripto is in smallville
24:32
Holy shit, humanite made it to live action? Guess I have some catching up to do
great videos i Vote Wonder Woman
Wait are you telling me Dragon Ball Z stole the name Namek from DC?
Hopefully we get Lori Lemaris soon
Spider man next
Think maybe Spider-man ones?
Smaaaaaaaeviiiiiilllllllllllle!!!!!!!
Krypto was in Smallville first
Wow they even pulled the ginger hate on Streaky
0:47 2:05 2:28 4:48
Did you mention Dreamer/Dreamgirl on Supergirl. If you did I missed her.
no, he didn't mention her but her appearance is short anyways
@@darkshadowx9543 she was a main character for 3 seasons.
@@disneyerapowerrangers2923 ik but I meant in comics
They aren’ t the same character, though. Dreamer is a remote ancestor of Dream Girl- but based on the later, so I guess technically they are the same.
Didn’t Kilgrave debut in Flash Season 4?
technically
Can’t Believe The Walking Dead’s Over 😭
@bruhmanofyear2 why you be like that
I cant believe it went on as long as it did
Thank god it is 🙏🙏🙏
It was a fun ride
Quite random but I feel the same
oh yeah, Krypto
perhaps captain america cold work? he has a long listory
He hasn’t had many adaptations, though.
Background music name
isn't Bloodsport (from Suicide Squad) a Superman character?
yes
